Liberal ministers have been busy sharing government's message

"Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and new U.S. President Donald Trump
have yet to schedule their first face-to-face meeting, but Liberal
ministers, including Chrystia Freeland, from left, Bill Morneau and
Harjit Sajjan, have been busy shaking hands and sharing Canada's
message in Washington. (Canadian Press/Associated Press) "

FYI I was surpprised that Freeland had manged to play dumb for so
long. Then I reconsidered things. Perhaps she really is that dumb.
After all her boss Trudeau "The Younger" is as dumb as a post.
Methinks T Rex and his mindless boss are gonna heat you all for
dinner. Being a person of BOTH countries you pulblic servants must
agree that I do have the right to my opinions of all Canadian and
Yankee politicians  EH?

The Johnson supremacy
Tuesday 4 October 2011 10:31 BST

"The world does not need a mini-Boris," says Jo Johnson, the
journalist-turned-politician trying to escape the shadow of his
journalist-turned-politician brother in their dynasty of journalists
and politicians. "It would be a disaster if I tried to pass myself off
as him." The Conservative MP for Orpington is sibling number four in
the Johnson clan. After Boris, comes The Lady editor Rachel,
entrepreneurial Leo, Jo and then two half-siblings, Julia and Max. Jo
is considered the "sensible" one: "There was no point trying to be the
loud one."

If Boris is the showman and the stand-up comic, Jo seems to have a
better eye for detail. Some have suggested the two could one day
compete for the top job in the party, Miliband-style, although Jo
describes Labour's filial battle as "unedifying". Perhaps a BoJo-JoJo
double-act at 10 and 11 Downing Street might be an alternate vision of
the future? Jo gives the perfect
politician-being-grilled-on-the-Today-programme response: "We have in
David Cameron the right man for the right time. I am full-square
behind him and George Osborne."

Jo looks like Boris's slimmer body double, his suit and hair less
tousled. At 39, he is eight years the Mayor's junior and says his
father Stanley is more often mistaken for Boris than he is. "

"On top of his backbencher's salary though, the register of members'
interests shows regular sums from the Financial Times, where he
remains a contributing editor, and that he recently received £3,600
for giving a speech to Bank of America employees.

His house, where he lives with his wife Amelia Gentleman and two
children, is in Camden, "a nice part of town, but it's not Belgravia".
He and Gentleman, a Guardian journalist whose mantelpiece must groan
under awards, met 20 years ago while students at Oxford, and married
in 2005.

Marrying to the Left seems a Johnson tradition: their mother Charlotte
Johnson Wahl has faultless Leftie credentials while Boris's wife
Marina is said to be much more liberal than he. Gentleman has written
extensively about the impact of the Government's cuts which, I
suggest, must make for some lively conversation over the supper table:
"There's lots of healthy debate, debate is good," he says, a view that
seems lucky in light of his family. "You can't iron contradictions out
of individuals and you can't iron them out of families."

For the PUBLIC record I just off the phone with James Comey's office
in Washington and they denied receiving this email but it did not
bounce back. Furthermore I do have a record of my calling the FBI in
Boston and Washington  immediately after sending this email.

Meanwhile as I was talking to several of Comey's assistants the EX CIA
know it all Robert Steele sent me the following email. Seems that your
fellow FED spin  doctors are good for something after all even if you
are are as nasty as Helll EH Barry Winters and Chief Rod Knecht?

 Analysis
Scottish nationalists revive independence campaign, with an assist from Brexit
On 2nd anniversary of failed referendum, Scottish nationalists quietly
begin planning for the next one
By Nahlah Ayed, CBC News Posted: Sep 20, 2016 5:00 AM ET

Despite the name, a lawmaking career does not come naturally to Chris Law.

Instead, the 46-year-old is better known as a maverick Scottish
activist with a long red mane who never leaves home without a tweed
jacket or vest — and who once drove a 1950s fire engine across
Scotland to promote its independence.

Now in the unlikely role of an MP in the British House of Commons —
with tweeds and ponytail intact — Law is driving an independence
agenda from the official opposition benches and a Westminster office,
with a clear view of Downing Street. At times, he seems to be
channeling the Bloc Québécois.

"I will be, I hope, the last MP for Dundee," he said, referring to his
riding. "For me, [politics] was not a natural step. This was a step to
finish the job I began."

What may prove his best argument in favour of Scotland's independence
also comes courtesy of Westminster: last June's referendum on whether
the U.K. should remain or leave the European Union.
Chris-Law-Scotland

If the government of British Prime Minister Theresa May can't make
Brexit work for Scotland, then it might be time to hold another
referendum on independence, says Chris Law, Scottish National Party MP
for the riding of Dundee. (Richard Devey/CBC)

The majority in the U.K. voted to leave while the majority in Scotland
voted to stay. For advocates like Law, that stark difference in
opinion provides the best illustration of Scotland's "unique" status.

His perch, meanwhile, along with that of 55 other MPs from the
Scottish National Party at Westminster, allows for some first-hand
vetting of what happens next.

"We did not ask for this referendum. So, we are reacting to a
referendum that was decided by the U.K. government," he said.

"So, whatever presentation is given by the U.K. government, we can
challenge it, we can assess it, and we can decide whether or not it's
going to deliver for Scotland.

"If it's not, then we have to ask the inevitable question: is now the
time for the second referendum?"
Voter fatigue

That time has not yet come.

The U.K. government has been flailing in its approach to Brexit and
has yet to pull the trigger on a mechanism that puts the process of
leaving the EU in motion. New Prime Minister Theresa May has also yet
to publicly articulate a coherent position on what she expects from
the club the U.K. leaves behind.

Scotland's first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has urged May to take
Scotland's wishes to any negotiations with the EU. She warned shortly
after the Brexit vote that she would immediately start setting the
stage for a fresh independence referendum.
BRITAIN-EU/SCOTLAND-MAY

First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon, right, has urged May,
left, to bring Scotland's concerns to Brussels when negotiating
Britain's exit from the European Union. (James Glossop/Reuters)

But she, too, is holding back until the terms of Brexit become clearer
— and until support among an electorate fatigued by votes is
solidified.

'Support for independence is dependent on what London does rather
than what actually happens in Scotland.'
    - James Mitchell, Edinburgh University

"In many respects, support for independence is dependent on what
London does rather than what actually happens in Scotland," said James
Mitchell, a professor of public policy and director of the Edinburgh
University's Academy of Government.

"[May's] got to at least show a willingness to acknowledge that
Scotland wanted to remain in the EU. If she can find some way of
accommodating Scotland in that context, then I think the union may be
secure. If she can't, the union may be in danger."
'This time, we have to win'

The independence movement, meanwhile, isn't waiting.

On Sunday, two years to the day after they lost the last vote to the
No side, the nationalists relaunched a grassroots campaign to turn
that No to a Yes.

It is, admittedly, a soft launch. But a launch nevertheless.

Former first minister Alex Salmond, the star speaker at the gathering,
predicted the next vote would happen within two years.

5 ways Brexit could hurt Canadian pocketbooks
How the U.K. could still ditch its EU divorce

"Two years ain't an enormous time in politics to prepare," he warned.
"Because this time, we have to win."

The most recent poll puts the support for Yes at 48 per cent — not a
ringing endorsement but strong enough to prompt the Scottish
Conservatives (the official opposition in Scotland's parliament) to
campaign, too.
Scotland-independence-rally

Recent polls suggest just under half of Scottish voters would support
independence in a new referendum. (Richard Devey/CBC)

Observers also suggest that in light of the Brexit vote, the No
support is softer than it was back in 2014, though the Conservatives
reject that.

Over the weekend, through newspaper articles and community
appearances, they warned of the consequences of independence: from
worse unemployment to deeper deficits. They also pointed out the
inordinate number of votes Scottish people have had in the past two
years. (Not just the Brexit and independence votes but also a general
election and one for the devolved Scottish Parliament.)

"There is no appetite for it really in Scotland," said Annie Wells, a
Conservative member of Scotland's parliament handing out pamphlets in
central Glasgow.
BRITAIN-EU/MAY

'The best interests of Scotland are served by taking a team U.K.
approach to get the best possible deal in these EU negotiations,' says
David Mundell, the U.K.'s secretary of state for Scotland. (Neil
Hall/Reuters)

"I think people are thinking, 'We've done it. We've been there. Let's
get on and do the day job of running the country.'"

Also on hand was the U.K.'s secretary of state for Scotland, David
Mundell, who has warned independence would mean the erection of a
border with the U.K. and no guarantee of EU membership.

"Now, the best interests of Scotland are served by taking a team U.K.
approach to get the best possible deal in these EU negotiations," said
Mundell, who was the only Conservative elected in Scotland to
Westminster.

The rest, like Law, were all Scottish nationalists.
Independence - but not at any price

Many independence supporters disappointed the last time — and crushed
by the Brexit vote — are coalescing again to lend their expertise to
what they're calling indyref2.

They, too, see Brexit, when it happens, as their best chance at
changing the minds of enough of those who voted No last time.

Scottish pride on the page0:45

In the last campaign, graphic designer Stewart Bremner's work gave the
campaign an unmistakably Scottish — and hopeful — look. Among his most
recognizable work is the image of a Scottish woman holding a thistle
(Scotland's official emblem) that was painted on Law's "Spirit of
Independence" fire engine.

With the government at a loss concerning Brexit, "the benefit of what
Scotland can have on its own now is even more stark," he said in an
interview.

"So, it really made us all go, 'Oh, the timetable has just shortened.
We need to start quietly preparing for another campaign.'"
Scotland-independence

Independence supporters used the 2nd anniversary of the failed 2014
vote to renew calls for another referendum. (Richard Devey/CBC)

As the nationalists wait for the right conditions, Sturgeon has called
for a national survey on independence, calling this "a listening
period." Some of the more hawkish members of her party have accused
her of stalling. Not Law.

"As much as we may want it and we are impatient to have it, we have to
look at the details," he said.

"Yes, we want independence, but not at any price."
