Court File No. T-1557-15

FEDERAL COURT

BETWEEN:
DAVID RAYMOND AMOS

                           Plaintiff
and

HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN

                           Defendant

STATEMENT OF CLAIM

84.  The Plaintiff states that the RCMP is well aware that he went to
western Canada in 2104 at the invitation of a fellow Maritimer in
order to assist in his attempt to investigate the murders of many
people in Northern BC. The Plaintiff has good reasons to doubt his
fellow Maritimer’s motives. The fact that he did not tell the
Plaintiff until he had arrived in BC that he had invited a Neo Nazi he
knew the Plaintiff strongly disliked to the same protest that he was
staging in front of the court house in Prince George on August 21,
2014. The Plaintiff was looking forward to meeting Lonnie Landrud so
he ignored the Neo Nazi. Several months after their one and only
meeting, Lonnie Landrud contacted the Plaintiff and asked him to
publish a statement of his on the Internet and to forward it to anyone
he wished. The Plaintiff obliged Landrud and did an investigation of
his own as well. He has informed the RCMP of his opinion of their
actions and has done nothing further except monitor the criminal
proceedings the Crown has placed against the Neo Nazi in BC and save
his videos and webpages and that of his associates. The words the
Plaintiff stated in public in Prince George BC on August 21, 2014 were
recorded by the Neo Nazi and published on the Internet and the RCMP
knows the Plaintiff stands by every word. For the public record the
Plaintiff truly believes what Lonnie Landrud told him despite the fact
that he does not trust his Neo Nazi associates. Therefore the
Plaintiff had no ethical dilemma whatsoever in publishing the
statement Lonnie Landrud mailed to him in a sincere effort to assist
Lonnie Landrud’s pursuit of justice. The Crown is well aware that
Plaintiff’s former lawyer, Barry Bachrach once had a leader of the
American Indian Movement for a client and that is why he ran against
the former Minister of Indian Affairs for his seat in the 39th
Parliament.

85.  The Plaintiff states that while he was out west he visited
Edmonton AB several times and met many people. He visited the home of
Barry Winters and all his favourite haunts in the hope of meeting in
person the evil person who had been sexually harassing and threatening
to kill him and his children for many years. The Crown cannot deny
that Winters invited him many times. On June 13, 2015 Barry Winters
admitted the EPS warned him the Plaintiff was looking for him.

86.  The Plaintiff states that on December 15th, 2014 the Crown in
Alberta contacted him byway of an email account he seldom uses since
his last communications with the Sergeant-at-Arms and Robin Reid. The
Sergeant-at-Arms wanted to know about a contact he had that day with
the constituency office of a recently appointed Cabinet Minister. All
the other statements in this complaint should prove that the Plaintiff
knew why a political lawyer from NB was ignoring a new constituent’s
contacts all summer after answering a message in Twitter promising to
meet with him. It was obvious to the Plaintiff that as soon as the
lawyer was a Cabinet Minister he was attempting to use his influence
to intimidate the Plaintiff byway of the Sergeant-at-Arms like his
political associates in NB did in 2004.

87.  The Plaintiff states that before he had a chance to respond to
the email from the Sergeant-at-Arms of Alberta, three members of the
RCMP members in plain clothes were pounding on the basement entrance
of a condo at 1:30 AM. They did not identify themselves as being the
police as they attempted to harass the Plaintiff on private property
in the middle of the night without a warrant. The Plaintiff was twice
the age of the oldest one and considered them to be tough talking kids
who were trying to enter a home in the middle of the night so as he
closed the door he told them he was calling the cops. They hollered on
the other side of the door that they were the cops as the Plaintiff
called their headquarters and was immediately patched through to them.
The Plaintiff refused their request when RCMP tried to con him into
coming outside in freezing temperatures in the middle of the night so
they could supposedly speak with him instead of saying what they
needed to say over the telephone. If what the RCMP was saying was
remotely true then they should have identified themselves and asked
for him instead of someone else when he answered the door. The
Plaintiff’s response to the RCMP’s trickery was that it was best that
they communicate in writing and that he would be contacting their
lawyers in the morning. The Crown received its very justifiable
responses and the law was not upheld. The Plaintiff was ignored as the
RCMP continued to harass his family deep into the New Year as he
headed for the BC coast then back to the Maritimes to run for public
office again.

David Amos – Psychopath: Approach with extreme caution! a Public
Safety Announcement from RadicalPress.com
August 3, 2016 by admin 6 Comments

http://www.radicalpress.com/?p=9892

" In 2014 David Amos came out to British Columbia to meet with Frank
Frost, Loni Landrud and myself in Prince George, B.C. It was his
stated objective to bring along his legal papers and file them in the
B.C. court system and that Mr. Frank Frost would assist him in doing
so. It was during that period that I photographed Amos.
When the time came for David Amos to walk the walk and act upon his
endless talk he chickened out and left it to Mr. Frost to enter into
the court record whatever documents that he had brought with him.
Frank Frost did this but since doing so all the court records in the
Prince George Courthouse now show that there are no files relating to
Frank Frost’s own court proceedings. Mr. Frost had earlier on been
charged and arrested and incarcerated in the provincial prison in
Prince George based upon false accusations from his former common law
partner; accusations dealing with Ministry of Children and Family
issues.

In conversation with Mr. Frost yesterday (August 7, 2016) he told me
that third party interested parties (including the local MLA for the
North Cariboo electoral district) who have gone to the courthouse and
requested the files on his case have been told that no such files
exist! Then, they have been escorted out of the courthouse by the
sheriffs in the courthouse.

Mr. Frost now refers to David Amos as David Anus because he is fully
aware that Amos is nothing but a self-absorbed, narcissisticasshole
who desperately craves attention in order to justify his own addled
existence."

Lonnie Landrud and the murder of Deena Braem

This one kind of baffles me. Deena Lyn Braem was last seen alive
hitchhiking to her home in Bouchie Lake from Quesnel on September 25,
1999. Her body was recovered on December 10, 1999 north west of
Quesnel near Pinnacles Provincial Park. In 2009 the Vancouver sun
reported that 10 years later Deena's death is still a mystery.

Deena was murdered on the highway of Tears. The Highway of Tears dates
back to 1998 when the name was used at a vigil in Terrace to pay
tribute to five women who at that time had disappeared along the
720-kilometre stretch of Highway 16 connecting Prince George to Prince
Rupert. The Prince George Citizen reported that the murders along the
highway of tears date back to 1969 and continued in the /70's so it
started before and continued after Robert Pickton. The Highway of
Tears web site claims the number of murders are up to 40.

The Lonnie Landrud story is bizarre yet he seems so coherent. He
claims he witnessed the murder of Deena Braem and claims she was
murdered by a police officer. We've talked about means and motive in
the past. I see no motive in a cop killing this young girl. We have
heard of cops stealing drugs from police lock ups. We heard that sex
trade workers claims police officers extrted them into perofming sexua
favoyr claiming that if the didn't have sex with the police officer
they would arrest them for prostitution. These things are believable
but murder?

A New York-based Human Rights Watch released a report claiming that
police abuse of aboriginal women in BC included threats, torture and
sexual assault. The report also contains troubling and graphic
allegations of physical and sexual abuse, including from a woman,
identified as homeless, who describes how police took her outside of
town and raped her. Rhoad said the woman told her the officers then,
"threatened that if I told anybody they would take me out to the
mountains and kill me and make it look like an accident."

Rape is believable but murder seems extreme. We know Jim Brown is a
freak and the Dianne Rock story raises huge concerns. Obviously not
all cops are bad. Yet when we see idiots like bill fordy getting
promoted it is clear that there is corruption in the administration of
the RCMP. How far that rabbit hole goes is something I simply cannot
answer.

Pretty compelling. Why would no one investigate this? Oh that's
right, we don't really have anyone who investigates the
police...except other police. And that's only in higher profile cases,
usually it's them investigating themselves. Not that this on isn't
high profile.

Listen, the RCMP was reluctant to do anything above the Picton
problem until it back impossible not to. For all the things the RCMP
has swept under the rug to "Maintain Their Right", imagine how happy
they would be to investigate a serial murder crew in uniform.....

For sure. I think they might know a little more about the mid
twenties males that have gone missing without a trace in the PG area
over the years. I think it's pretty safe to say the highway of tears
is more than one person. How can multiple people get away with murder
in the same area? Kind of like the BCR cops wife that is missing
without a trace. Things that make you go hmmm...

Interesting. Do you have a name?

Anita Thorne, she went missing without a trace about 2 years
ago. I don't know what they (BCR cops) are called now, but he has been
a BCR cop forever and is still a railroad cop.

How sad that this case has gone unsolved.

The murders of women have been going on since the 1960s from
Kamloops on up. It was not an area you wanted to even drive through at
night, for fear your car might break down.

One of those killed outside of Kamloops was the daughter of an
RCMP officer. Never solved to the best of my recollection.

Trailrunner and I don't agree on much, but this one, upp we agree.

At one time, an occupation of high spousal abuse were police
officers. The stats must still be around from the 1970s and 1980s. In
one northern, RCMP detachment, of 10 men, 8 admitted to hitting their
wives, one said no, and one said not your business. So would murder of
a woman they were not married to be that far a move? Not in my
opinion. A police officer would be stupid to murder his wife because,
well in a small town it might be noticed she was gone, but a woman not
the wife, easy.

If it is alleged a police officer murdered the young woman, it
would not surprise me if in fact that were true. There are no details
as to how the young woman was murdered, but it doesn't take much
sometimes to kill someone, hit them the wrong way, some one falls and
hits their head......

What we do know is these murders will not be solved and the
killings will continue. it is almost as if it were condoned by
society.

Historically First Nations women had little to no value in our
European descent culture. when they were rapped, battered, or murdered
not many cared. Not much as changed until the change in federal
government last year.

Many cases of murder on the Highway of Tears is because there is
no reliable method of transportation along the way. Christy Clark and
her B.C. LieberaLS DECIDed $250Kk per year for a bus just wasn't worth
it.

There is always someone who knows something or has a pretty good
idea, but they don't share it with authorities at the best of times.
If the "authorities" might be involved, people will simply not talk.
However, we can only hope more information comes to light during the
Federal Investigation Canada will be having into the murdered and
missing First Nations women. Perhaps cases may even be re-opened or
investigate with new technology and fresh, unbiased eyes.

I know of someone who had tried to leave a tip on the Nicole Hoare
disappearance on hwy 16. It was not taken seriously because they
wouldn't leave a name. Funny how that guy that we thought is in jail
for murder and since the killings have slowed, with the exception of
Cody legebokoff.

    e.a.f.March 9, 2016 at 8:28 PM

The case of Cody Legebokoff is an e.g. of why some of the murders
are hard to solve. who would have thought someone from a "normal"
family would have killed 3 women. Had it not been for an officer
stopping him because he came from a road not used often, he would have
continued to be at large.

The lack of "enthusiasm" from police when people try to leave a
tip is not encouraging.

Dr John SmytheMarch 11, 2016 at 11:16 PM

Police constables are human beings. All are capable of horrible
atrocities. History proves this beginning with Cain and Abel.

(On a slight aside, just because they are human, does not mean
police should not be held to an higher standard than the rest of the
body of a nation or state - in fact, because of their position, police
punishment for infractions should be, at least, 3 times that of the
normal sentencing solely because of their position of trust!)

When an area or event is advertised and promoted by the media,
various individuals are "inspired" (tempted) to commit the same acts
("copycats").

While obviously wanting to report on such occurrences/acts/events,
the media have their role of responsibility to play, as well.

@Mike Smith You don't have to be clever to read or understand my posts. However you have to be either a CBC employee or fairly diligent in reading all the posts before the Crown Corp commonly known as CBC buries them or better yet changes its malevolent mind and removes posts after they have stood for hours. In fact I have witnessed the CBC delete entire threads that I have posted within and saved the proof and forwarded it to their lawyers such as Alex Johnston. This thread contains 3 examples of that fact and now quite likely four EH Hubby Lacroix? However one post still remains and certain other lawyers and politicians now know that I am not confused.

That said at least Melanie Joly the lawyer who is Canada's latest Minister of Heritage has acknowledged to me in writing that she understood my troubles with the Crown Corp she oversees. I also hope that she reads the posts in this comment section as well. It appears that I am not alone. If I understand posts that I can read in here today, I would have to say that the majority of the folks of English Heritage in New Brunswick have grown tired of the LIebranos and their bilingual games financed by the taxpayer.

@Andrew St.John In my youth in the 1960's in NB I studied French and Latin in High School because even back then I truly believed that you know as many people as you know languages.I must say that the fella who is proud of his child studying a common Chinese tongue made a very valid point. I have practiced the art of politicking in Canada and the USA for quite sometime. Yet his posts made me consider something about New Brunswick and languages that never dawned on my marble head before. Perhaps other political people should consider what he posted as well?. N'esy Pas Governor Johnston, PM Trudeau, Minister Leblanc, and Premier Gallant ?

YO @Phil Peters @Mike Archibald I have a question or two for you two all knowing dudes and two more for the cohorts of @AlexJohnston the Governor General's daughter who is also a lawyer for the BILINGUAL CROWN Corp CBC/Radio Canada as well.

1. Please explain why the CROWN of Canada's ONLY BILINGUAL province DID NOT PUBLISH this official document in the Royal Gazette?

https://www.scribd.com/doc/2724591/tanker-contemptable

Trust that CBC/Radio Canada and their blogging buddy Chucky Leblanc know the document is SIGNED and was served upon me in 2006 by their friend the Sgt at Arms (the ex RCMP/GRC dude who flew with the Queen and checked Hatfield's baggage long ago) and his Aides de Campe, the Fat Fred City Finest not long after I ran in the election of the 39th Parliament for the Fredericton seat on "The Hill".

2. Can you two dudes or any wannabe lawyer you know find the trespass law that the CROWN quoted to me in the document found within the link above in the Criminal Code of Canada?

3. Can the CBC/Radio Canada lawyer @AlexJohnston query and understand the documents in the docket (T-1557-15) of the Federal Court located across the street (named after the woman I sued) from the Fat Fred City Finest's cop shop in Fredericton?

http://cas-cdc-www02.cas-satj.gc.ca/IndexingQueries/infp_RE_info_e.php?court_no=T-1557-15&select_court=T

4. Why won't the 'journalists" of the CROWN Corp CBC/Radio Canada or the wannabe journalist and proud FRENCH dude Chucky Leblanc who was also barred from his beloved "Old Maison" and arrested by the Fat Fred City Finest twice because of his UNSIGNED ENGLISH ONLY DOCUMENT report about any of this or even admit that I ran for public office 5 times?

@Frank O'Phil I'm confused Thus far CBC has posted one of my comments before your words but not the other. Go figure.

@Andrew St.John I wonder if Rob Hoadley or the lawyer Thomas Christie now a Judge whom Peter MacKay appointed to replace Bruce Noble in Fat Fred City or anyone else remembers way back to 2008?

http://nb.cpf.ca/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/summer2011.pdf

FYI In 2008 Chucky Leblanc and his friends within the NDP supporters called QSLS were making fun of mean old me while the Liebrano lawyer TJ Burke, the lawyer who was the Language Commissioner, the lawyer who was the leader of the the Provincial Green Party and her nasty hubby who was the Master of Disaster for the IRVING's electronic media (then later led the Occupy NB protesters after he got fired by the Irvings) all tried to have me arrested by the RCMP and charged by the CROWN because of my published opinions on this topic and other matters.

Anyway when the false arrest finally happened and failed the RCMP conned an immigrant doctor into having the corrupt cops hold me down so that his nurse Rachet could inject me with drugs then file me in the Looney Bin in Fat Fred City. To this very day David Coon the current leader of the Green Party talks of Looney Tunes? Yea Right he knew everything about my since 2004 when I stuck my hand out to him while he was subject to a SLAPP lawsuit by a Yankee Corp and handled by McInnes Cooper.

David Raymond Amos
@David Raymond Amos Anyway while being held against my will in the Looney Bin Chucky Leblanc and his QSLS pals violated my privacy and gloated about my false imprisonment and still do to this very day. However when I found out about Chucky's malicious nonsense, I asked my friend Ken Ross a former Deputy Minister of Health under Mike Murphy to investigate. Ross assigned an assistant to do so. She did nothing at all for the benefit of the Liebranos. Now she works for the Dept of Public Safety YEA RIGHT.

In 2008 everybody and his dog particularly the RCMP, the CBC and the Liebrano lawyers TJ Burke, Kelly Lamrock and Mike Murphy tried hard to pretend that any of this ever happened. Remember? Well it did. Surf the Internet and you can reiew many things.

BTW Rob Hoadley teased me on the phone at the time saying that he understood the Charter differently than I did. However the lawyer Tom Christie responded to me in writng and thanked me for the info. Methinks that is the reason MacKay appointed him to be judge.

Knowledge is power Correct?

Well that in mind what will any of the wannabe PC leaders or anyone else do with their newfound knowledge if CBC has the sand to post these comments? I am betting everyone will continue to play dumb just like CBC has since 2002 when the received Hard Copy of my first two lawsuits in the the USA EH?

 @Mike Archibald ROUND TWO

1.  A mindless Crown Attorney tried that trick with mean old me in Federal Court (Docket 3 T-1557-15) and failed bigtime. Anyone can sue anyone for libel (and demand a jury as well) without permission from the Crown. The beef is between the dude who happens to be the CEO of NB Liquor and the woman who happens to be a Privacy Commissioner. However the taxpayer should not have to pay their private lawyer fees.

2.. Your point makes no sense to mean old me. Hence I see nothing to argue other than to say if you catch a crook they should be FIRED and prosecuted.

3. That is the way it supposed to be already.DUHHH???

David Raymond Amos David Raymond Amos
@Mike Archibald Remember when you tried to debate me anonymously on April Fools Day 2006 within Chucky Leblanc's original blog after I ran in the election of the 39th Parliament? That blog still exists for anyone to review.

How about when I called you years later and you deleted your entire blog afterwards. Yet you still go on and on within Chucky's and the CBC's domains EH?

Well lets debate again. First Switzerland is a poor example of an actual democracy when it is in fact a very well armed camp at the same time. Furthermore it has provided guards to protect the Vatican State for hundreds of years and that Sate has no democracy whatsoever.

More importantly.Switzerland provides a haven for Banksters and their secretive crooked clients. Remember when UBS got caught putting pallets of brand new Yankee cash in Iraq for the benefit of Paul Martin, Bob Rae's and Jean Chretien's friends in Power Corp? Then there is the FSB Chaired by Mark Carney Governor of the Bank Of England formerly Governor the Bank of Canada and a former partner of. Goldman Sachs. Need I mention to the all knowing "Mikel" the Bank of International Settlements etc?

I will respond to your other arguments with Phil Peters within ROUND TWO

 David Raymond AmosDavid Raymond Amos
@Phil Peters Politicking Read my other response to you If and when CBC allows it

David Raymond Amos David Raymond Amos
@Phil Peters As a man who has run as in 5 elections thus far an Independent I strongly disagree with your opinion on Independents. I have said many times (even during a televised debates that CBC did not report about) when the question was asked of me that there is no democracy when the votes within a party are whipped. Listen to me say it at the just before the 50 minute mark of this debate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cFOKT6TlSE

BTW I crossed paths with Bernie Sanders the Independent Congressman and the "US economic Tzar" Robert Reich in 2002 when he was teaching at Harvard with Iggy and seeking the Democrats' nomination to run against Mitt Romney while I was suing Tom Riley the Attorney General of Massachusetts, the high priest Cardinal Law, 3 US Treasury Agents and legions lawyers about money within two lawsuits. I also to name but a few that you just mentioned.truat that crossed paths bigtime with Reich's old boss Prez Obama, Ralph Nader, their old buddy Noam Chomsky and his lawyer pal Paul Saba in 2004 before I ran in the election of the 38th Parliament

David Raymond Amos David Raymond Amos
@Mike Archibald I got bored waiting over an hour to see if the CBC moderators would alow my comments to be posted thonght. So while waiting I did a blog with a true tally of all my comments since the Governor General's daughter was hired and made me register in my true name again.. I just gave up on waiting for the CBC people to do their job or not for tonight. I will check to see what was posted and what was not tomorrow. In the "Mean" time if this comment is posted feel free to compare what you can see to what you cannot.

'Shady, secretive system': Public Safety green-lit RCMP, CSIS spying devices, documents reveal
@Alex Johnston Whereas you are a lawyer just like your Daddy the Governor General, you must have at least two clues between the two of you. Correct? I have sent you and your CBC bosses more than enough emails since you introduced yourself to me in order to tell me that I must re-register with CBC with my true name again. Have I not? What was the point of the exercise if my comments are still blocked anyway? So did your or your politically appointed Daddy bother to read even one email I sent to you? BTW For the record I believe I still recall what CBC reported your Daddy said to Harper just before they entered Rideau Hall in order for him to be sworn in a Governor General. You Daddy said "Whatever Works" Correct?

FYI Everybody and his dog knows I crossed paths with your Daddy when he set up the the barriers for Oliphant to follow in order to protect Mulroney from prosecution.

That said now that your cohorts in CBC and Viafoura continue to block my comments, I am compelled ask another 3 rather obvious questions that you unethical CBC people will no doubt block as well but folks will nevertheless review elsewhere. N'esy Pas?

1. Did you bother to discuss with your Daddy or his minions in the RCMP and CSIS about the not so secret things Judge Richard Bell found in the docket of Federal Court (File no T-1557-15) and discussed with me on the PUBLIC RECORD on December 14th, 2015?

https://archive.org/details/BahHumbug

2. Did you or your Daddy even read Judge Richard Bell's decision that Federal Court FAILED to publish just like the other four in the matter thus far?

http://davidraymondamos3.blogspot.ca/2016/09/docket-t-1557-15-judge-b-richard-bell.html

3 What would you or your Daddy do if you were I ???

Job action by Crown prosecutors 'very likely,' says union
@Sean Onuaillain Alternative justice is not necessary. We need to properly separate Justice from politics. Did you know that Harper politically vetted all the judges he appointed? Trust that these greedy lawyers and their union know it.

Here what I am having fun with today Please note Hindle's words.

"Hindle said wages are "the big stumbling point." "But he also believes "pent up frustration" over the government's switch to a shared-risk pension model for public service employees — and the ongoing lawsuit — has also played a role"

Interesting words from a fellow political animal circa 2004 EH?

http://www.pipsc.ca/portal/page/portal/website/news/newsreleases/archives/2003/Steve%20Hindle%20Announces%20He%20Will%20Step%20Down

Ottawa, November 7, 2003 - Steve Hindle announced this morning that he would not seek a fourth mandate in 2004 as President of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada.

"My desire to become a Member of Parliament arises from my experience as President... We must do more to influence senior politicians on the workplace issues that we hold important."

Now fast forward to the last Federal Election

http://ottawacitizen.com/news/politics/union-launches-political-but-non-partisan-campaign

Well anyone can Google the former President Gary Corbett's old email address the word pension and my name to see what I sent him as I made fun about what Blaine Higgs and David Coon were yapping about pensions in 2013

FYI Type "gcorbett@pipsc.ca pension David Amos" and Google will provide this link as their first suggestion

http://thedavidamosrant.blogspot.ca/2013/11/i-bet-john-sinclair-blaine-higgs-and.html

P.S. I must say I am impressed with CBC's newfound sense of Integrity today.

Changes coming to commenting on CBC.ca

La version francaise suit. This email has been sent to all registered
members of cbc.ca who use an email address to sign-in to our platform.

We’d like to share some important news about a move first announced in
March and that we hope will have a positive effect on the
conversations happening in our online spaces. Starting next week, all
CBC.ca community members will be asked to use their real names when
contributing to our sites.

On June 13, you will need to re-register and create a new account
using a real name – even if you already use your full name to comment.
There’s no action you can take now to prevent having to re-register.

How it’ll work

On June 13, at 10 a.m. ET, your old account will become dormant and
you’ll no longer be able to access your profile. Resetting our
community in this way allows us to preserve pseudonyms on comments
you’ve made in the past. It also means we can implement new
verification measures more consistently across all our platforms.

Once you’ve created your new profile, your name will be moderated,
just as comments are. We will only accept comments for publication if
they’re signed by a name that looks real. We’re also introducing email
verification on all new accounts.

A fresh start and a work in progress

For those of you who have invested hours contributing to our stories,
accumulating likes and followers, we recognize that the loss of your
profile may be hard to bear. However, we believe this reset is a
necessary step to help curtail some of the troubling behaviour we
occasionally see on our sites.

This is just another step as we continue to evolve our digital
communities; we welcome your constructive thoughts, ideas and
feedback. Most importantly, we hope you’ll help lead and shape our new
community. You can read more in this blog on how we’re building a
better community and please check out the FAQs for more details.

Finally, we recognize that some of you won’t be pleased with our move
to real names, but we’re hoping that the majority of you will see the
value in promoting transparency within our online communities.

Welcome to your new cbc.ca community (starting June 13).

Alex Johnston
Vice-President, Strategy and Public Affairs
and the CBC.ca Community Team

CBC appoints women’s advocate Alex Johnston VP of strategy, public affairs
Janet McFarland The Globe and Mail

The CBC is continuing to remake its executive ranks with the
appointment of women’s advocate Alex Johnston as its new
vice-president of strategy and public affairs, marking the third
private-sector appointment to the broadcaster’s eight-member senior
executive team in the past year.

Ms. Johnston, who has headed women’s advocacy group Catalyst Canada
for the past three years, will be responsible for helping implement
the CBC’s latest strategic plan, which emphasizes delivering content
to mobile devices such as phones and tablets, cutting physical
building space in half and sharply reducing in-house productions in
favour of outsourced programming.

Ms. Johnston said she made the move because she cherishes the CBC and
is convinced Justin Trudeau’s new Liberal government is committed to
keeping it a strong institution.

“On a personal level, I’m quite sure it would not have been the right
role for me if the government piece was not in place where I do
believe they see the true value of the institution and want what is in
the best interests of Canadians – and I think that is a strong
CBC/Radio-Canada,” she said in an interview Tuesday.

The CBC faced sharp budget cuts and staff reductions under the former
Conservative government of Stephen Harper, and was rocked by a
sexual-harassment scandal involving former high-profile radio host
Jian Ghomeshi, who is now on trial over sexual-assault allegations.

Ms. Johnston said the CBC needs a period to rebuild, and says part of
her job will be helping sell the new strategic plan to “an
organization full of people who are smart and passionate and
committed” but have been through a lot of turmoil and may not be
excited by the prospect of more change.

“As an organization, it’s been through a lot in the last four or five
years, whether it’s the funding stuff or the personnel stuff, and they
need to get back to a place where there’s hope for the future and not
just managing day-to-day,” she said.

Ms. Johnston fills a position formerly held by Bill Chambers, who was
vice-president of public affairs, which includes responsibility for
communications and government relations. He left the CBC last August.

CBC chief executive Hubert Lacroix has significantly revamped his
executive team over the past year, bringing three outsiders from the
private sector into key roles. In addition to Ms. Johnston, Mr.
Lacroix appointed Judith Purves, former chief financial officer of IBM
Canada Ltd., as CFO last March, and former Rio Tinto global mining
executive Josée Girard as vice-president of people and culture last
August, which is the top human-resources management job at the CBC.

He also promoted Sylvie Gadoury to vice-president of legal services
last June, which was an internal appointment.

The appointments mean there are four new faces on the CBC’s
eight-member executive team, which has three men and five women in the
top positions.

Ms. Johnston, a lawyer who previously practised at Goodmans LLP in
Toronto, spent her early years in Montreal and is bilingual. She is
also the daughter of Governor-General David Johnston.

She said she initially had no plans to leave Catalyst, which has
helped champion reforms adopted last year that require publicly listed
companies to disclose information about their approach to gender
diversity in executive ranks and on their boards of directors. But she
was approached for the CBC job and became sold on the challenge.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Johnston was executive director of policy
to Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, working alongside then-colleague
Gerald Butts, who was Mr. McGuinty’s principal secretary. Mr. Butts
later became a top adviser to Mr. Trudeau, and is now his principal
secretary.

Ms. Johnston plays down her Ottawa connections, but says she has
enough contact with the government to be certain of its commitment to
the CBC.

“I have no greater vantage point at this stage than anyone else, but
it’s really having a sense of who many of those people are in
government and what their values are,” she said. “I have a sense that
they believe in the institution and I think they put a very strong
minister, Mélanie Joly, who they have a lot of confidence in to lead
this.”

Catalyst Canada has launched a search to fill Ms. Johnston’s position
but has not yet chosen a successor. The Canadian office of the global
organization has 10 staff and a budget of about $2-million.

CBC announces end to anonymous online comments
Policy change fast tracked in wake of complaint by prominent New
Brunswick francophones

CBC News Posted: Mar 17, 2016 5:36 PM AT Last Updated: Mar 17, 2016 9:01 PM AT

CBC will stop allowing anonymous online comments, management of the
public broadcaster announced on Thursday.

Jennifer McGuire, CBC's general manager and editor in chief, said 'in
the interests of encouraging civil conversation CBC will not allow the
use of pseudonyms.'

All commenters will be required to use their real names instead of the
current practice of allowing pseudonyms.

The policy change comes in the wake of a complaint by a group of
prominent New Brunswick francophones over what they considered hateful
attacks on the province's French-speaking community.

A national committee has been reviewing CBC's commenting policies for
months, but has fast tracked its decision following the complaint,
officials said.

"We recognize the limits of a 'real name' policy," Jennifer McGuire,
CBC's general manager and editor in chief, said in an Editor's Blog
published on the website late Thursday afternoon.

"However, in the interests of encouraging civil conversation CBC will
not allow the use of pseudonyms."

No timeline for the change has been given.

"We are letting our users know this is coming but it will take some
time to ensure we make this transition smoothly," McGuire wrote.

University of Moncton law professor Michel Doucet, who had organized
the letter signed by 120 New Brunswick francophones, promptly reacted
to the announcement with a post on Twitter in French, saying he is
"happy with the outcome."

Observatory on Language Rights at the Université de Moncton, is
pleased with the CBC's decision. (CBC)

Reached shortly after for further comment, Doucet said he felt the
change in policy will have an impact.

"I think people, when you have to put your name, it's easy to hide
behind a pseudonym and say anything you want, but when you have to put
your name, people will think twice," he said.

Doucet said he had a meeting with CBC executives earlier on Thursday,
and felt that the letter he had sent to CBC had helped to speed up the
change in policy.

"I think CBC was already doing a reflection on how to deal with their
comments section," said Doucet. "They wanted to make it on a par with
what's being done with Société Radio-Canada. So they wanted to do
that. But it is certainly a direct result of the letters being sent."

Rosella Melanson, one of the signatories and a former executive
director of the now-defunct New Brunswick Advisory Council on the
Status of Women, also responded with a French tweet, saying "Yay."

The letter had called on CBC to overhaul its handling of online
comments to be "more discerning" and filter out those that "attack the
minority community."

Some of the examples cited in the letter included comments about an
"Acadian mafia," calls to "banish all the French" out of the province,
and a comment that said languages commissioner Katherine d'Entremont
appeared "demonic" in a photograph.

Commenters should not be allowed to hide behind pseudonyms, they had argued.

Last week, CBC's senior director of digital news, Brodie Fenlon, had
responded to Doucet, saying "more changes are needed, and will come."

But Fenlon had noted permitting commenters to use pseudonyms allows
for an inclusive platform for all voices, including victims of crime
and whistleblowers.

Requiring commenters to use their "'real names' does not guarantee
civility," he added, pointing to the signed, yet hateful messages
commonly seen on social media.

In November, CBC temporarily suspended comments on stories related to
aboriginal issues due to the inordinate number of comments that
regularly contravened its guidelines and constituted hate.

As of January, CBC now ensures all comments are reviewed by a human
moderator before publication.

@Take 4 tylenols; 1 4 each corner! Make fun all you wish but I am as
serious as a heart attack about this. I have always maintained that
people should back up their words with their true names.

However ask yourselves why CBC blocks ALL my comments and denied that
I ran for public office FIVE times?

Sad day for free speech , killed by a small vocal minority . We now
have a completely controlled press in this province as CBC joins the
likes of CanadaEast.

@Ex-expat @An anonymous attack is not free speech

Why do you assume it is a vocal minority in NB? I've searched for more
detailed statistics on the support for bilingualism and duality but
can't find anything. However, there are numerous facebook groups and
petitions signed by thousands of NBers who are against bilingualism.

A rhetorical device meant to end discussion about a real issue is to
dismiss it as only "a vocal minority". I'm not saying your wrong, but
I can't find proof you're right.

@DumbBoy *Sad day for free speech *

Free speech is about you being able to comment on the subjects, no one
will be stopping you from that, but it will stop the slander for most
part.

singleminded

The people of NB have good reason to question the biased decisions of
their provincial (Liberal) government. This is apparently intolerable
to CBC.

So goodbye CBC.
