Tamara Lich isn't going back to jail and is now allowed to visit Ottawa
In court last week, Crown argued she violated bail condition not to support anything related to Freedom Convoy
Freedom Convoy leader Tamara Lich will not be returning to jail, a judge has ruled, after a Crown prosecutor argued in court that she violated her release conditions.
At her two-day bail review last week, the organizer of the Ottawa protest that brought the city to a halt for weeks sought an amendment to the terms of her release to allow her to visit Ontario — and Ottawa, specifically — and to use social media.
The Crown, meanwhile, argued Lich should be back in custody for allegedly violating her bail condition not to support anything related to the convoy and to stay off social media.
On Wednesday, Justice Kevin Phillips ruled he would vary Lich's bail to allow her to come to Ontario but restrict her from entering Ottawa's downtown core.
The reason why Lich wants to visit Ottawa is subject to a court-ordered publication ban and cannot be disclosed.
Phillips did reject a request from Lich's defence lawyer, Lawrence Greenspon, to allow her back on social media. He told the court Lich was old enough to have lived at a time without social media, and she could continue to keep in touch with people through other means, such as texting.
Tamara Lich is receiving an award from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms for her work to help organize the Freedom Convoy protest that occupied some downtown Ottawa streets for weeks earlier this year. (jccf.ca)
Accepting award, wearing Freedom Convoy jewelry not breaching bail
During her bail review, Lich testified she would "love to attend" an event in Toronto in June to accept a freedom award, "however I won't be breaching my bail conditions in order to do so."
On March 28, a charity called the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms emailed Lich to notify her she'd been selected for its 2022 George Jonas Freedom Award, she told court.
The email, which she read aloud, said the honour was being given "in recognition of your leadership role in the Freedom Convoy."
The award announcement on the centre's website states Lich "took the initiative to help organize a peaceful protest and serve as one of its leaders. The resulting peaceful protest in Ottawa awakened many Canadians to the injustice of Charter-violating lockdowns and mandatory vaccination policies."
It also states she "suffered for the cause of freedom by spending 18 days unjustly jailed, and exemplifies courage, determination and perseverance."
The day after receiving the email, Lich emailed back to say she was "honoured" to accept. She didn't inquire about whether it would be OK, she testified under cross examination by Karimjee.
Asked whether by accepting the award she was supporting something related to the convoy, Lich said, "I guess, yeah. I guess so.
"I don't feel that this is a breach. I don't feel that that's what the recognition is for. ... I feel that the recognition is for inspiring Canadians to hold the government to account to the rule of law and to uphold their Charter rights," she continued.
No connection between award and convoy, judge rules
Phillips told court he accepted Lich's evidence that there was no connection between the convoy and receiving the award. He agreed the Freedom Convoy is over and that it would be "practicably impossible" to mount a similar protest in the city.
He also said Lich is not responsible for what other people post online, rejecting a Crown submission that she had also violated her social media ban by taking a photo of herself wearing a pendant featuring a truck image and the words "Freedom" and "Canada" emblazoned on it.
Lich sent the photo to the supporter who had given her the pendant, who then posted it on social media.
Phillips
also said Lich is not responsible for the actions of the Justice Centre
for Constitutional Freedoms, and said "there is significant
uncertainty" to the degree to which Lich will be held culpable for her
involvement overall with the Freedom Convoy.

Tamara Lich to find out Wednesday if she's returning to jail
Freedom Convoy leader compares social media ban to living in 'exile'
After a two-day bail review held this week, Freedom Convoy leader Tamara Lich will find out Wednesday whether or not she's heading back to jail.
Lich, an organizer of the Ottawa protest that brought the city to a halt for weeks, was seeking an amendment to her bail conditions that would allow her to return to Ontario and to use social media. Crown lawyers charged she was in violation of her bail conditions, and should be back in jail.
Lich, who is charged jointly with fellow convoy organizer Chris Barber, is accused of mischief, counselling mischief, obstructing police, counselling to obstruct police, counselling intimidation, and intimidation by blocking and obstructing one or more highways in relation to the protest.
She has been out on bail since March 7.
'Didn't see the harm' in Freedom Convoy jewelry
During Friday's bail review, Crown prosecutor Moiz Karimjee showed a social media post featuring Lich wearing a pendant gifted to her. The pendant features a truck image and the words "Freedom" and "Canada" emblazoned on it.
Lich, testifying via video from Alberta, said the pendant was gifted to her, and disagreed with Karimjee that giving permission for it to be posted online violated bail conditions requiring her not to "verbally, in writing, financially, or by any other means, support anything related to the Freedom Convoy."
Lich took this photo at the request of a supporter who had sent a pendant with a truck and 'Canada Freedom' emblazoned on it. (Facebook)
The photo of Lich wearing the necklace was posted on a Freedom Convoy group page that says "portions of the sale will be donated to Truckers Convoy."
Lich said this wasn't supporting anything related to the Freedom Convoy, in part because "there's no convoy to support."
"I don't see how it's a breach. It's a piece of jewlery that was gifted to me," said Lich. "I really didn't see the harm in it."
She said she took the photo because she was "appreciative" that someone had sent her "such a beautiful gift."
Lich said she had assumed the person who sent the pendant and asked for the photo would post it on a personal page.
The surety tasked with making sure Lich follows her bail conditions, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, said they were unaware the post or photo existed.
Social media ban 'comparable to exile'
Lich is seeking to be able to return to social media. Right now she is able to text and call people, but she is restricted from accessing social media platforms.
She said she would like to connect with family and friends who post and message her on social media.
"We live in social media world now, I think being banned completely from social media is comparable to exile once upon a time," Lich told the court. "I personally don't see why i can't consume my own social media and log into it even and stay connected, that's what it's all about really, staying connected."
During examination by defence lawyer Lawrence Greenspon on Thursday, Lich testified she also wants her bail conditions changed to allow her to visit Ottawa. The reasons are subject to a court-ordered publication ban and cannot be disclosed.
She also testified she would "love to attend" an event in Toronto in June to accept a freedom award, "however I won't be breaching my bail conditions in order to do so."
Lich is receiving an award from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms for her work organizing the Freedom Convoy protest that occupied some downtown Ottawa streets for weeks earlier this year. (jccf.ca)
Award for leading convoy

"I guess it is related, because of what happened," she added.

Lich arrested in February
Lich was arrested Feb. 17 and originally charged with counselling to commit mischief, shortly before before a major police operation cleared protesters and vehicles from Ottawa streets.
She was initially denied bail by Ontario Court Justice Julie Bourgeois, who told court she found Lich to be guarded and "almost obstructive" at times, and who wasn't convinced Lich would go home, stay home and stop her alleged counselling.
Lich and her then lawyer Diane Magas appealed Bourgeois's decision, leading to her first bail review in the higher court in early March.
Superior Court Justice John Johnston ruled in Lich's favour after the one-day proceeding, saying she had been a "valued employee" in Alberta and had lived a "crime-free" life, and that the risk in Ottawa had been minimized after police cleared streets.
Lich was released after spending about 18 days in custody at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. Other bail conditions included that she leave Ottawa within 24 hours, refrain from using social media and have no contact with certain co-organizers.
Her surety — who cannot be identified due to a court-ordered publication ban — put up a $20,000 cash bond, while Lich herself put up an additional $5,000 cash bond.

Tamara Lich admits accepting award is related to Freedom Convoy in fiery day in court
Crown brings up possible mistrial application, asks judge to recuse himself
Tamara Lich admitted in court Thursday that accepting an award for organizing the Freedom Convoy "is related" to the convoy, but testified she doesn't believe she violated a bail condition not to support anything related to the protest that occupied some downtown Ottawa streets for weeks.
She made the comments on the first day of her second bail review in Ottawa's Superior Court, a proceeding peppered with tense, dramatic exchanges between Crown prosecutor Moiz Karimjee and Justice Kevin Phillips.
Lich, who is charged jointly with fellow convoy organizer Chris Barber, is accused of mischief, counselling mischief, obstructing police, counselling to obstruct police, counselling intimidation, and intimidation by blocking and obstructing one or more highways in relation to the protest.
She has been out on bail since March 7, bound by another Superior Court justice's order not to "verbally, in writing, financially, or by any other means, support anything related to the Freedom Convoy," and to stay out of Ontario, among other conditions.
Lich emailed to say she'd be honoured to accept
During examination by defence lawyer Lawrence Greenspon on Thursday, Lich testified via a Zoom video link from Alberta that she wants her bail conditions changed to allow her to visit Ottawa. The reasons are subject to a court-ordered publication ban and cannot be disclosed.
She also testified she would "love to attend" an event in Toronto in June to accept a freedom award, "however I won't be breaching my bail conditions in order to do so."
On March 28, a charity called the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms emailed Lich to notify her she'd been selected for its 2022 George Jonas Freedom Award, she told court.

"I guess it is related, because of what happened," she added.
Crown asks judge to recuse himself
Just before a 15-minute late afternoon break, Phillips told court Karimjee's decorum surprised him, and asked Karimjee to "contemplate that."
When court reconvened Karimjee said he was just "doing my job" and began to list some of his problems with the justice's remarks and rulings, including that Phillips had earlier refused to allow the email notifying Lich about her award to be submitted to court.
Phillips interrupted. "I'm not interested in an argument," the justice told the Crown. "Proceed with your cross examination."
"No, I'm not arguing with you —" Karimjee began.
"I don't want to engage in this," Phillips interrupted again. "Proceed with your cross examination. I don't want to hear from you. I want you to cross examine the witness. Proceed, please."
"Your honour, I frankly need to consider whether I need to bring a mistrial application given your honour's comments," Karimjee replied.
"I'm asking you to cross examine the witness, Mr. Karimjee," Phillips said.
"No your honour, it's more than that," Karimjee replied. "... This is a significant case. ... When confronted with things that I believe to be improper, I'm not going to remain silent."
"Have you got a question for the witness?" Phillips asked after a long pause.
"I am asking your honour to recuse yourself," Karimjee replied.
"That request is denied. Go ahead with your cross examination," Phillips said, and Karimjee promptly continued questioning Lich.
Off to a rocky start from the get-go
Proceedings had gotten off to a rocky start hours earlier.
The Crown had been expected to argue that Lich should be put back in jail for allegedly continuing to support the Freedom Convoy, and Lich's defence team was expected to fight a bail condition that she stay off social media entirely.
But instead the Crown asked the judge to rule on whether a Superior Court justice has the authority to respond to alleged errors of law by other Superior Court justices.
Karimjee argued that Phillips could deal only with arguments about material changes in circumstances. Ruling on a fellow justice's errors of law could result in counsel seeking bail review after bail review until a justice gave them a favourable ruling, Karimjee told court.
After a 20-minute recess Phillips rejected the Crown's argument, opening up submissions to alleged errors of law as well as material changes in circumstance. By then it was "regrettably" 12:30 p.m. and hearing evidence had still not yet begun, Phillips told court.
Judge says it's not his job to determine Lich violated conditions
The Crown's first and only witness was Ottawa police Sgt. Mahad Hassan, the file co-ordinator in the case. (Det. Chris Benson is the lead investigator, but was busy testifying in a homicide case, court heard.)
Hassan testified he believed the more expensive VIP tickets to the Toronto freedom award event would give those ticketholders "a chance to meet the VIPs that are featured on the pamphlets" — in this case Lich and columnist Rex Murphy.
During cross examination by Greenspon, Hassan admitted there was no mention that Lich would be in attendance.
While Karimjee was leading Hassan's evidence in chief, Phillips bristled at the idea that he might be asked to decide whether Lich violated her bail condition, instead of police.
"That's a task I'm unfamiliar with. I'm not usually a police officer of release conditions. ... Are you trying to put me in a position to find a breach here, to declare that she's broken the law?" Phillips asked.
Karimjee responded that he's entitled to lead evidence proving Lich violated the terms of her release, citing the Criminal Code.

Crown trying to put Freedom Convoy leader Tamara Lich back in jail
Tamara Lich still supporting Freedom Convoy, breaking bail condition, Crown says
Ahead of her Thursday court appearance, Crown prosecutors are arguing Ottawa protest organizer Tamara Lich should be back in jail because she is violating her bail conditions by continuing to support the Freedom Convoy.
Lich agreed to attend a Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) gala planned in Toronto for June 16, where she is being given a "Freedom Award."
According to an application filed by Crown lawyers, Lich is not to support "anything related to the Freedom Convoy" and the document charges the event is "designed to support the Freedom Convoy movement."
The event includes a VIP reception with tickets going for $500, and the Crown says, "It is the only reasonable inference that Ms. Lich has agreed to attend to this event in support of the Freedom Convoy cause."
Lich has been out of jail since March 7, on the condition she leave Ottawa, reversing a decision made the previous month to keep her in jail. She has been living at an Alberta residence for about two months.
Moiz Karimjee, the Crown counsel prosecuting Lich, also alleges in his latest application the decision to release Lich in March was done without proper analysis.
She was arrested Feb. 17 shortly before the major push by police to clear out the remaining protesters who occupied downtown Ottawa streets. Lich stayed in custody and was denied bail on Feb. 22, but then appealed and was released.

Lich and Chris Barber are jointly charged with mischief, counselling mischief, obstructing police, counselling to obstruct police, counselling intimidation, and intimidation by blocking and obstructing one or more highways.
In its application, the Crown says Lich "has continued her support of the Convoy cause" and that she has done so with the assistance of the JCCF, a charity associated with the Freedom Convoy.
"The collaborative and representative nature of the relationship between the parties cannot be denied," the application says, noting the charity's lawyers have been present at court appearances.
Keith Wilson, a JCCF lawyer, went to the protests in Ottawa and appeared at official Freedom Convoy news conferences to speak on the group's behalf.

Ottawa interim police chief Steve Bell didn't ask feds to invoke Emergencies Act
Posted May 17, 2022, 3:05PM EDT.
Ottawa’s interim police chief says he did not ask the federal government to invoke the Emergencies Act during the “Freedom Convoy” in February.
The Liberals have said law enforcement asked for additional powers that could only be granted by declaring a national emergency.
Last week, however, Commissioner Brenda Lucki also said the RCMP did not ask the federal government to use the act.
Ottawa interim chief Steve Bell spoke to a parliamentary committee today, along with representatives from the Ontario Provincial Police, the RCMP and Gatineau police, about issues with jurisdiction in downtown Ottawa.
The committee on Procedure and House Affairs is examining whether the Parliamentary Protective Service should have jurisdiction over Wellington and Sparks streets, in addition to its current oversight of the parliamentary precinct.
Bell says there will need to be clarity on the boundaries of each organization’s responsibility if any changes are made, and clarity about what happens when events such as protests cross over those boundaries.

Just for the record here we can’t call in and speak to an inmate the inmate has to call out. Pat called Dave Freedom and I in one call and he called me separately on another call. The lawyer had mentioned a resolution yes until we received the final disclosure yesterday and now she’s going ahead for a bail hearing4Christiane Marie why would she be looking at resolution if she didn't even have all the disclosure? I truly believe she was stringing this along on purpose, as were the ones before her. This must be so frustrating for him. And for you.2Tamara Lavoie not at allPat had asked what the crowns looking at for him so she had a talk with the crown regarding his inquiry that’s allDefinitely not stringing him along.Christiane Marie Why would she not go for bail even if he was going for a resolution for chrissakes makes no sense whatsoeverChristiane Marie why would she be looking at resolution if she didn't even have all the disclosure? Conservatives condemn racist conspiracy theory, attack each other over Buffalo shooting
Poilievre, Brown trade accusations in response to Buffalo, N.Y. mass shooting
Leadership candidates and the interim leader of the Conservative Party are condemning the racist "white replacement theory" that allegedly inspired Saturday's mass shooting in Buffalo, N.Y.
But there is still discord in the party about how that condemnation came about — with Pierre Poilievre accusing leadership rival Patrick Brown of a "sleazy" use of an atrocity and with Brown's campaign questioning why Poilievre and other Conservatives didn't condemn the killings sooner.
It's been a particularly ugly moment in an already heated leadership race.
"It shouldn't take us time to come out and emphatically stand up for what's right," said Michelle Rempel Garner, co-chair of Brown's leadership campaign.
"Those moments of hesitation, frankly, I think they're very detrimental to Canada's pluralism. I just think our party needs to do a better job of immediately condemning this type of murderous ideology."
Saturday's shooting left 10 people dead and has been described by authorities as "racially motivated violent extremism." Most of the people killed were Black and the 18-year-old shooter reportedly left a lengthy manifesto espousing the idea that whites were being replaced by non-whites — a racist conspiracy theory known as "white replacement theory."
Brown prompts Poilievre
Disagreement among Conservatives sparked by the deaths went public on Sunday when Brown tweeted out a 2019 video of Pat King, one of the key figures behind the protest convoy that occupied downtown Ottawa in February. In it, King discusses the idea that white people are being deliberately replaced.
Brown noted that the racist theory reportedly was part of the shooter's manifesto and called on Poilievre — who has been vocally supportive of convoy protesters — to do the same.
Rempel Garner then tweeted that such racist propaganda must be denounced from every corner of every political party and said those who give space to such "treasonous" content are complicit.
"Pat King stood in the convoy and Pat King stood for this. We have to purge our own tents of hate, in all forms, or Buffalo happens," she wrote.
Poilievre levels accusation of 'sleazy' behaviour
On Monday afternoon, Poilievre's campaign released a statement denouncing both the attack in Buffalo and King.
"I condemn the attack in Buffalo and the ugly racist hatred that motivated it. Any and all racism is evil and must be stopped. I also denounce the so-called 'white replacement theory' as ugly and disgusting hate mongering. I also condemn Pat King and his ugly remarks," the statement reads.
Poilievre went on to question Brown's motives.
"For Patrick Brown to use this atrocity is sleazy — even for him."
Poilievre said he supports peaceful and law-abiding truckers who protested for their livelihoods but denounced anyone who "broke laws, behaved badly or blocked critical infrastructure."
He added that those who engage in racism are personally responsible for their behaviour.
Asked about Poilievre's statement, Rempel Garner said the killings should compel someone in a leadership role like Poilievre to "rise to the moment." She said it would be up to Canadians to decide whether he had done so.
Tory leader, Commons condemn racism
Conservative interim leader Candice Bergen also issued a condemnation Monday afternoon.
"Racism is repugnant to our values as Canadians, and it has no place in our country or in the Conservative Party. The 'white-replacement' conspiracy theory is peddled by racists and bigots. Conservatives unequivocally condemn this kind of thinking," said Bergen's statement.
She also seemed to draw a line on behaviour by protesters, such as those in the Ottawa convoy.
"[W]hile Canadians are free to protest and demonstrate, that does not include illegally blocking or occupying infrastructure, nor does it include illegal hate-speech," said Bergen's statement.
Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino condemned the shooting in a scrum Monday and said that Canada is not immune to hatred and racism.
WATCH | Public safety minister reacts to Buffalo shooting
"We have seen in the past that shootings have stemmed from hatred and acts of racism, for example, at the Quebec City mosque shooting," he said.
"We have to do more to eliminate gun violence, and we also have to do more to eradicate racism, which has no place in our society."
The House of Commons unanimously passed a motion Monday which expressed horror at the shooting, extended condolences to loved ones of the victims and reaffirmed the need to oppose racism and white supremacy. The chamber also held a moment of silence in memory of the victims.

Freedom Convoy protesters struggling to get seized items back from police
Ottawa police say they received 41 items during the protest clean-up
Several Freedom Convoy protesters say thousands of dollars of items seized during February's enforcement efforts are unaccounted for, and that getting back those items that are in police possession has been a laborious process.
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) says they received 41 items from the city during the clean-up of the protests, which disrupted life in Ottawa's downtown for roughly three weeks earlier this year.
Items in the force's possession include generators, barbecues and space heaters that helped fuel and feed protesters in the city's core.
They're being stored at OPS's evidence control facility in the city's southeast. Police say six items have been returned to their owners, but 35 remain unclaimed.
"As with any property, the owner can provide proof of ownership to retrieve their item," OPS said in a statement. "Receipts, serial numbers, and photos of items are acceptable means of identifying the property."
According to some of the protesters, many of the items collected during the clean-up were either newly purchased or donated to the convoy participants.
David Paisley, who became a de-facto Freedom Convoy organizer during the protests and remains a celebrity among supporters due to his popular social media channel, Live From the Shed, said he's tried unsuccessfully to get back roughly $1,000 worth of banners he had made.
Paisley was arrested during the police enforcement — he essentially lived on Wellington Street throughout the protests and had a live feed going during his arrest — but was never charged.
When he went to retrieve his items, police asked him for the name of his arresting officer and a case number, Paisley said.
Paisley said he wasn't provided with any documentation containing that information, meaning he's come up short in his efforts to retrieve the signs — which he says hold both sentimental and monetary value.
"As best we can tell, everything was kind of thrown in trailers and taken out of there as quick as possible," he said, adding there didn't appear to be any system in place to track where seized items were being taken.
"Time was the overarching priority, so everything was very rushed."
Ben Froese, a crane operator who was parked on Wellington Street, is pepper sprayed while police enforce an injunction against protesters on Feb. 19. Froese says he can't track down the Canadian flag he flew from the crane. (Evan Mitsui/CBC)
Ben Froese operated a crane that flew a Canadian flag and was parked almost directly in front of Parliament Hill during the majority of the protests.
Froese said police caused roughly $2,500 worth of damage to his truck's cable during the enforcement action, and the location of the flag — one of the more memorable images from the protests — remains unknown.
"I still haven't heard if it was actually taken somewhere as evidence," he said. "My flag is still a big question mark as to what they did with it, if they just threw it out to the garbage, I don't know."
Not seized as evidence, says OPS
It's unclear where flags and other items that were seized ended up.
According to OPS, it received no tents, tables or chairs from the city. It's believed city officials — and possibly private contractors — responsible for cleaning the streets post-police action threw things out.
Police say none of the items in its possession were seized as evidence and they aren't waiting for a judge's order to release them.
"If they truly only have 41 items in their possession, then either a significant amount of items were thrown out, or there's some contractor somewhere sitting on a large number of items," said Paisley.
Karl Douville helped operate the Coventry Road camp and estimates thousands of litres of fuel, straw bales and other items were removed.
"It's an incredible amount of stuff. There's tens of thousands of materials there, if not hundreds of thousands of material there, that was taken off Wellington," he said.
Douville said he's co-ordinating with other organizers to create an inventory of unaccounted items, in the hopes of getting them back.
"There's a lot of stuff that shouldn't have been taken," he said, adding there were teams of people who tried to clean up during the enforcement — but police didn't allow it.

'There needs to be a fair system'
In its statement, police said they "actively worked to identify property owners" and that in some cases, items marked with a name and phone number allowed them to do that.
Organizers are contemplating searching city dumps to see if they can retrieve things like extension cords, power bars, chairs and tables that they believe were thrown out.
They also hope police will release the items so that they can ensure they're returned to their rightful owners.
Paisley said there's an expectation property will be protected by police and noted most of the people involved in the Freedom Convoy — including himself – haven't been charged with or found guilty of any crime.
"There needs to be a fair system for getting that property back. Unless there's some kind of justification for why those items are still in police possession, it seems inappropriate," he said.
"They seem to be wanting to be claiming due process now, but they skipped all the due process before. So to expect us to have receipts and proof of everything when they just came in and scooped it all up — it doesn't seem to be a fair trade-off."

Declaration of Canadian Physicians For Science & Truth
Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom
In September 2021, active RCMP members from Police On Guard formed a small group for Mounties to discuss RCMP-specific issues. The group soon agreed that it was time for police to become vocal about the censorship of information and the violation of Canadian rights and freedoms. This was the formation of Mounties For Freedom and, in a matter of days, the group increased its numbers into the hundreds. We’re still growing!
We are a group of active duty and retired police officers who have assembled to create a haven of truth and justice for all members.
We are looking to see an end to unconstitutional public health orders.
Peace officers are being directed to defy their Oath to uphold the rights of the people they protect and this must end.
Police On Guard Mission Statement
That as active and retired Police Officers, our mission is:
To honour our Oath to uphold the Constitution of Canada, and to the best of our abilities, preserve the peace, prevent offences and discharge other duties as a Police Officer faithfully, impartially and according to law.
To continue to serve and protect the public, while remaining independent of political influence.
To repair and regain public trust which is being damaged and lost due to the enforcement of Emergency measures.
To encourage active duty members to join our court action requesting clarification on the validity of emergency measures being passed by our Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments.
We believe that these measures are not only in conflict with our Charter Oath but also place active duty police officers in an untenable position when directed by politicians and senior management to enforce these emergency measures.

COVID-19: How many Mounties are on unpaid leave for failing to get vaccinated? The RCMP won't say.
RCMP members had until Oct. 29 to acknowledge they were vaccinated or face unpaid administrative leave.
The RCMP is declining to put a specific number on how many officers it has had to place on unpaid leave in B.C. for failing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, or at least disclose vaccination status, by the Oct. 29 deadline.
Just over 4,000 federal employees have either sought an exemption or refused to be vaccinated, although it is unclear how many are from the RCMP among the more than 280,000 covered by the federal mandate.
“We are not in a position to provide specific information,” because the federal Treasury Board has been tasked with compiling and reporting the numbers, according to a statement from the force’s senior media officer in B.C., Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued the mandate Oct. 6 that all public servants in the core public administration be vaccinated and declare their status by Oct. 29, or be placed on unpaid leave as of Nov. 15.
In the RCMP, a high-profile few have declared their opposition to the mandate through a group called Mounties for Freedom, which invites members of the public to sign an open letter to Commissioner Brenda Lucki.
A recent farewell email from former Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Richard Mehner, which was circulated to the entire detachment, including its commander, Chief Supt. Graham de la Gorgendiere, is another centrepiece of the website.
Mehner’s letter is critical of what he refers to as “wannabe tyrants in Ottawa (who) have decided that I can no longer serve as a police officer because I refuse to tell them if I have submitted to their ‘vaccine’ edict.”
Over five pages, the diatribe expresses skepticism about the seriousness of the pandemic and repeats unproven conspiracy theories about vaccines and public health mandates, which he calls “our dystopian, medical, apartheid state.”
In a statement, Burnaby RCMP spokesman Cpl. Brett Cunningham said Chief Supt. de la Gorgendiere “has addressed (Mehner’s) statement with all Burnaby RCMP employees.”
While some employees have raised concerns about its contents, “the detachment is offering continuous support to those who may have been negatively impacted,” Cunningham wrote.
In total, 775 core-administration employees are unvaccinated (another 3,290 requested accommodation), which includes the 19,000 officers among 30,000 employees in the RCMP.
The force will “assess operational needs as implementation proceeds,” according to an emailed statement from spokeswoman Sgt. Caroline Duval, but they are “focused on ensuring that there is no impact on service to Canadians.”
“It is concerning” that the RCMP won’t be specific on numbers, said criminologist Rob Gordon. “But I suspect that is coming from a place of ignorance.”
Owing to the size of the organization, senior officers “simply do not know how many RCMP officers are in that position,” said Gordon, a professor at Simon Fraser University.
Other agencies have put numbers to their unvaccinated ranks, including the Toronto Police Service, which put 205 officers on unpaid leave as of Nov. 30, according to news reports.
In B.C., the province reported some 3,000 unvaccinated health-care workers on unpaid leave as of Nov. 9. An update on those figures wasn’t made available by deadline Monday.
However, the Vancouver Police Department stands out for not having a vaccination mandate and allowing officers who opt out to submit to regular testing to remain fit for duty.
The RCMP’s new union, the National Police Federation, “will continue to support members access to vaccines and their choice to be vaccinated or not,” according its official statement, forwarded to Postmedia by spokesman Fabrice de Dongo. “We have also clarified to them the consequences of their decisions.”
To Gordon, the bigger issue would be if members were seen to have discretion about abiding by the mandate.
“(The RCMP) is authorized, empowered to engage in law enforcement on an impartial basis,” Gordon said. “They really don’t have a choice. That’s the big fear here, from my point of view.”
“I mean, these people can do what they want to do in their private life, but if they want to be members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the commissioner has said to do that, you have to be vaccinated because it’s in everyone’s best interest, he really has no choice.”
Veteran Mountie's Parting Words
Hi everyone, December 14, 2021
Since most members make a goodbye email before they leave, I figured I should as well, despite the “special” circumstances around my departure. Anyways, my time here in the RCMP is up. For now. The low T wannabe tyrants in Ottawa have decided that I can no longer serve as a police officer because I refuse to tell them if I have submitted to their “vaccine” edict. I’ve served in the RCMP for 21 years and one of the first things I said to any person I ever arrested was “you don’t have to say anything to me.” Unfortunately, our government has told me that I have to tell them what’s in my body, and if the right drug is not inside me, I have to get it as condition of my continuing employment, human rights be damned. Why did I put vaccine in quotations above you ask? More on that later. Buckle up and tighten the straps on your government mandated shame muzzle, this goodbye email will likely ruffle some feathers.
My journey to this point of our dystopian, medical, apartheid state started like many of yours. Watching the television almost 2 years ago as reports started coming in of some strange virus out of Wuhan. I was a little concerned, but not much. You see, for the last 10 years of my life I had spent a lot of time as an amateur researcher of history and learned to my dismay that the official narrative of most events is usually a little suspect at best. Like weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, or the January 6th “insurrection” in D.C., the examples are sadly numerous.
I’ve also always been a very independent person. Following the herd has never appealed to me. When a belief is put forth to me I always evaluate it for myself and don’t simply accept it’s veracity based on the authority behind it. For example, during the last Federal Government census, I could not help but notice that the gender section had 3 boxes. Male, Female and other, which was a blank box. For real, the Federal Government of Canada allowed you to make up your own gender on the last official census. I found this to be a combination of amusing and insane. Feeling particularly bull headed and cheeky at the time, I naturally chose Minotaur as my gender. Yes, that’s right, on the Canadian government census my gender is that of a mythical giant man with the head of a bull.
So back to my Covid journey. I was skeptical of the pandemic from the start but decided to wait and see what evidence would surface of this dangerous pandemic. So I sat back and quietly observed. At that time, and still at the time I’m writing this, I was the admin NCO on the watch. I was in the unique position of seeing every file that came through PRIME in the 46 hour window I was at work each week. Naturally, this included all sudden death files. Pay attention now, have another sip of your latte if you have to. Since the pandemic began, until now, I was in a position to see every single sudden death file that came through our detachment area. What did I notice in this position? Nothing. No upwards trend whatsoever. Funny enough, I didn’t see people dropping dead in my neighbourhood either.
This was a very stark contrast to what I saw in media. A non-stop chorus on TV, radio, and internet, of case counts, hospitalizations and deaths. At no time in my life had I seen anything like it. A complete disconnect between my observed reality and that which was portrayed by my government and the government subsidized mainstream media. And they were reporting deaths in care homes. Care homes? When did the media ever report deaths in care homes unless it was some sort of instance of gross negligence? It’s called end of life care for a reason. People go to care homes at the end of their life. Death is the natural consequence, and this fact used to be understood as common sense.
When the statistics started showing that the vast majority of anyone dying from Covid, either had one or more co-morbidities, or was older than the average life expectancy, my skepticism of the pandemic narrative only grew. Then in the summer of 2020, I got Covid. For a few days I was really tired and shivered a lot. Then it was over. I survived the “deadly” disease like the vast majority of anyone else who caught it. To be honest, I’ve had worse flus, and worse hangovers.
At the end of 2020 I became convinced we were all being force fed a giant load of absolute bullshit. Don’t believe me? Look at world population statistics. Here’s a sample. At the end of 2018, the world population was 7,631,091,040 and that year 57,625,149 people died. This showed an overall death rate of .76%. I know some of you are shocked by this, but yes, 57 million people died of all types of causes in 2018. When you reach the end of your life, you die. At the end of 2019, the world population was 7,713,468,100 and 58,394,378 died. Naturally, because we had more people reaching the end of their lives, more people died. The death rate that year was .76%. Now let’s see what 2020 brought us. The year of the pandemic. At the end of 2020, the world population was 7,794,798,739 and 59,230,795 died. The death rate was .76%. Yes. That’s right. In the year of the deadly pandemic the world’s population grew by 81,330,639 people and the death rate did not change by even a hundredth of a percent. The media never once pulled back the lens to show this, they continued to show the narrow focus of case counts and Covid deaths. Even going so far as to change causes of death so that someone who died “with” Covid in their system was counted as someone who died “of” Covid. The Western world shut down over a disease about as deadly as the common flu. And our rights were shut down along with it.
Despite this disease having a non existent effect on the overall death rate of the world’s population the call came out for a mass vaccination. Since I was already skeptical of the pandemic, I was naturally skeptical of the need for a “vaccine”. Oh look, vaccine is in quotations again. Why am I doing that?
Because it’s not a f^#king vaccine!!!
A vaccine is created when a virus from nature is made harmless in a lab and then cultivated there. The vaccine, created from the neutered virus, is then injected into a person. The body then reacts to the vaccine just like it would to the unaltered, dangerous virus. However, because the vaccine is a modified harmless version of the virus, it doesn’t cause disease and the body’s natural immunity is able to “learn” how to cope with the virus. This “learning” is lifelong and is why people develop an immunity to whatever they were inoculated against. People who have been vaccinated against Measles do not get Measles, and the same with mumps etc etc. None of the so called Covid “vaccines” meet this definition. If you were wondering why “vaccinated” people are still getting Covid, and spreading it, this is why. The fact that “vaccinated” people still get Covid and spread it should tell you that this madness will never end as long as you buy into the official narrative.
How these new Covid “vaccines” work is based on a brand new technology never used on a massive scale. Particularly in regards to the 2 “vaccines” most heavily promoted, Moderna and Pfizer. These drugs use artificial mRNA technology. Think of mRNA as the software of our bodies. The operating instructions. Pfizer and Moderna use artificial mRNA based on a computer algorithm. These instructions are encapsulated in something called a nano lipid. A nano lipid is a tiny envelope of fat. There are trillions of these nano lipids in the Pfizer and Moderna shots. Once injected they circulate through your body through your body’s lymphatic system. Upon the nano lipids dissolving, your body receives new instructions for its immune system. These instructions tell your immune system to make spike proteins which resemble the spike proteins of the Covid virus. This is the key distinction you need to be aware of. Your body is being instructed to make the very pathogen that your immune system builds a defense against. This is completely uncharted territory and nothing like this has ever been done on the human population on such a large scale. The drug companies themselves have admitted they don’t know the long term side effects. When a recent FOIA request was sent to the FDA in the US, requesting the safety data they had on the Pfizer vaccine, the FDA asked a judge for 75 years to comply with the request. Nothing sketchy there.
To make matters worse. Every single Western nation has passed legislation shielding these drug companies from civil liability, if their vaccines harm people. While this legislation was passed years ago, it still applies to the Covid “vaccines.” You heard right. If the Moderna Covid “vaccine” harms you, you cannot sue Moderna. Same with every other drug company that makes any vaccine, Covid “vaccine” or not. They all have civil liability immunity for the vaccines they manufacture. Vaccine injury compensation has been paid out in the US under a tax funded program called the vaccine injury compensation fund, not as a remedy through civil lawsuits. Established in 1986, this fund has paid out $4.4 billion in claims. In Canada, we had no such vaccine injury fund until June of 2021. Hand on chin emoji goes here.
Make no mistake here. This is a large scale drug trial and whoever was jabbed is taking part. Having educated myself about these new drugs I was very skeptical when they started promoting them. Additionally, nearly all the drug companies making Covid “vaccines” have a very checkered history in quality control and ethics. J and J has payed 9 billion in settlements throughout it’s lifetime and Pfizer has payed $4.6 billion. Not for their vaccines of course, for their other pharmaceuticals. Moderna was founded in 2010 and their Covid “vaccine” is the first product they have ever put on the market. Information has since come to light that the Moderna “vaccine” was finishing in development in December of 2019, immediately before the pandemic hit. It’s almost like they were anticipating something. Do I dare put my hand on my chin and gaze thoughtfully upwards a second time?
As I was already skeptical about the entire pandemic narrative, I decided a long time ago that I was not going to take any of these “vaccines”. So as I had decided to sit back and watch how the so called pandemic unfolded, I decided to observe the vaccination campaign. One of the first things I noticed is that people like me were completely ignored and never talked about. What do I mean by people by like me? I mean people who had Covid and recovered. Suddenly, natural immunity didn’t exist anymore. Everyone had to get the vaccine regardless of whether they had natural immunity or not. Wait….. what? No one would ever suggest someone who had measles or polio should get vaccinated against those diseases. Why was natural immunity suddenly not talked about anymore? But if you knew where and how to look, it was talked about, and studied. The largest study was in Israel where the researchers concluded that natural immunity conveyed 27 times more protection than vaccination. Not double, not triple, 27 times! Fast Forward to recent times where an attorney in the US submitted a FOIA request, to the CDC, requesting records of any patient, who had a previous Covid infection, who was subsequently re-infected and then transmitted the Covid to another person. The CDC could not produce a single record of this ever happening. Yet for some bizarre reason, neither the government nor the media will ever talk about natural immunity and Covid together.
And now we are able to see much of the results of this mass vaccination campaign. And despite what you’ve been told, it’s not good. Data from the UK is showing that vaccinated adults under 60 are dying at twice the rate of the unvaccinated. American VAERS data shows these Covid “vaccines” have caused more deaths than all other vaccines combined in the last 30 years. In Europe, FIFA data has revealed a 500% increase in cardiac events and sudden deaths in soccer players. Very recently, the American Heart Association released a study which demonstrated that mRNA “vaccines” dramatically increase markers related to heart conditions. A recent German study showed that the higher a jurisdictions’ vaccination rate, the higher it’s mortality rate. On November 11th of this year, a Doctor Nagase came forward to report a record 13 still born births, in a 24 hour period, at BC Children’s hospital. They average 1 per month. During a very recent Ontario provincial parliament debate, MP Rick Nicholls confronted the health minister about a sharp rise in still births from vaccinated pregnant women in Ontario. All he got for his efforts was deflection. Despite this new evidence beginning to come light, there has been absolute silence in the media. Instead, they now want to vaccinate our children. Children are at a near zero risk from Covid. Vaccinating children with these experimental drugs, with unknown long term side effects, which are starting to show increasing adverse effects, is absolutely criminal.
Since I refuse to go along with this coerced “vaccination” campaign, I am being forced onto Leave without pay. Despite the fact that approximately 70% of the Federal workforce gets testing as an option, for some inexplicable reason, the RCMP, the CBSA and Federal Corrections have a mandatory vaccination order. I refuse to go along with this. This is nonsensical, illegal and unethical. I will continue to refuse and I have obtained legal representation, along with hundreds of other federal employees. We will get our day in court and we will win. Some may ask where our union stands on the issue. The answer is they didn’t. Our union leadership immediately bent the knee and offered no resistance whatsoever. Despite these setbacks, those who are fighting this know we have the truth on our side. The truth, at the moment, may be mere pebbles rolling down a slope. This will inevitably become an avalanche. So in reality, this isn’t a goodbye email, it’s a “see you in 2022” email.
Before I go, let me say this. Don’t be afraid. The government, and their mouthpieces in the mainstream media, have promoted a nonstop campaign of fear for almost 2 years now. Turn off your television and radios. Do your own research and question everything. Knowledge begins with asking questions. With each new variant they will try and frighten you, despite the fact that never in the history of virology has a virus ever mutated to become more deadly. Selective pressures always favour a more contagious, but less deadly mutation. The new “scariant” is Omicron. They don’t tell you that they skipped Mu and Xi in the Greek alphabet. Why? Because Mu or Xi just don’t sound scary. When you hear some brain dead parrot repeat the talking point “trust the science,” politely ask them to provide a definition of science. They never can because they don’t know. What they are really saying, but are too stupid to realize, is that they are saying “trust authority and don’t ask questions.” This, my friends, is the antithesis of science.
And get some sunshine. The latest German study, you know, actually science, showed an inverse relationship between vitamin d and Covid mortality rates. The study showed, given high enough vitamin d levels, a mortality rate of zero could be achieved. In addition, please don’t let them inject this “vaccine” into your children. Why on earth would you allow an experimental drug to be injected into your children, from pharmaceutical companies that have a history of civil litigation settlements, where these same companies have blanket legal immunity from the vaccines they create, for a disease that your children are completely safe from? It’s insanity. And the latest video where Trudeau explains he is excited to begin vaccinating children, looks completely psychotic and unhinged. Keep these lunatics away from your children. Your children are going to be just fine with their natural immunity.
I don’t know how many people will get to read this. I suspect that once certain ranks are aware of this email it will be pulled from the server. That right there speaks volumes in itself. Silencing the last message of a 21 year veteran who was forced to leave simply because he didn’t tell the government whether he had a drug in his body or not, doesn’t portray a leadership of transparency or good faith. On the contrary, it demonstrates both cowardice and a complete betrayal of any professed principles. Before I go, if any of you believe in courage and freedom. You aren’t alone. In fact, many members feel this way and they have created their own website: mounties4freedom.com. Another concerned group of freedom loving Canadians has created action4canada.com. Check them out when you have time.
Anyways, I have taken up too much of your time as it is. Always laugh at those who would spread fear, and see you in 2022.
Corporal Richard Mehner, your “vaccine” free Minotaur
P.S. Chief Supt. De La Gogondiere,
I taped a copy of this letter on your office door, Martin Luther style. If you don’t understand the historical reference I invite you to look it up.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon
C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., O.Q., C.D., F.R.C.G.S.
Rideau Hall
1 Sussex Drive
Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 0A1
Your Excellency,
Please
accept this as a follow-up to the initial letter we wrote dated December
8, 2021. The actions of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his
government have been divisive, deceitful, and criminal in nature. In our
first letter, we explained how the actions of the federal government
were illegal and at times criminal. In this letter, we will demonstrate
how the actions taken by Trudeau and his government are not in the best
interest of Canadians. Ma’am, for reasons listed below, we ask that you,
as you are the Commander-in-chief of the Canadian Armed Forces,
immediately cease all military involvement with Trudeau’s “vaccination”
campaign. We are also once again requesting that you execute your powers
and dissolve parliament. Dissolution of parliament will send a clear
message to Canadians that there is a constitutional crisis acknowledged
by the Queen of Canada. It will also send a message to political leaders
that the antagonistic behaviour displayed by Trudeau and his government
will not be tolerated in Canada.
In our
letter to Attorney General David Lametti, dated December 7, 2021, we
asked that he commence a fair and transparent investigation into the
actions taken by our governments toward the COVID-19 response. We have
yet to receive a response and have since publicly released our attempts
at contacting Mr. Lametti. Though we have not yet received a response
from you, we are making another attempt to contact you before making our
efforts known to the public. Please understand that making our letters
public is not an attempt to intimidate or threaten Your Excellency or
your position. We believe in government transparency and accountability,
and we believe it is the right for Canadians to know what is being
asked of their government.
Since
the date your office received our previous letter addressed to you,
several important updates have come to light. The most alarming is that
the Canadian Covid Care Alliance (CCCA) released a report titled The
Pfizer Inoculations for COVID-19 More Harm Than Good. In this report,
the CCCA used Pfizer’s own data to reveal that the injections were far
from safe and that more people died in the trials after taking the
Pfizer injection than those who died in the placebo group.1
Those who died after receiving the injection did not die of COVID-19,
resulting in manufacturer messaging that focused on trial-related
COVID-19 deaths instead of overall deaths in the trial. At the request
of Canadian parents, a criminal investigation has been opened in
relation to Pfizer’s fraudulent submissions that the injections are safe
and effective for children.2
Democratic
governments should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability
and provides information for citizens regarding what their government
is doing. To date, neither the federal government, nor any of the
provincial governments, have released the scientific data which led
government officials to declare the COVID-19 treatment injections as
“safe and effective”. This is concerning because in recent history,
several large pharmaceutical companies were forced to pay billions of
dollars in fines for both civil suits and penalties for criminal acts.3
In 2009, Pfizer paid $2.3 billion for its illegal activity and was
described as “a corporate giant that was blatantly violating the law and
misleading the public through false marketing claims.”4
The
Honourable Brian Peckford, former Newfoundland Premier, is the only
person alive today who helped draft the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms.5
Mr. Peckford has made several appearances and publicly stated that
Section 1 of the Charter, the section that allows for limitations on our
freedoms, was never intended to be used for a situation like the
current COVID-19 health response.6 Mr.
Peckford has continually advocated that the current mandates being
implemented by our federal and provincial governments violate the
Charter.7 Who could be more qualified to speak on the meaning of the Charter than the individual who cowrote it?
Many
Canadians have long-standing trust in their government. This trust has
been built over time and has resulted in many Canadians believing they
may not be qualified or equipped to question or challenge the actions of
their government. This is an anomaly throughout the world, as
governments worldwide are often challenged and scrutinized by their
citizens. Justin Trudeau and his government appear to have taken
advantage of this and participated in actions and behaviours that no
other governments in Canadian history have previously attempted.
The
actions of Justin Trudeau have been called “anti-Canadian”, and he has
partaken in unprecedented acts of surveillance to monitor Canadians.
Trudeau and his government funded a study on Canadians to determine how
best to coerce and influence them into taking the COVID-19 treatment
injection. Tactics included removing Canadians’ ability to travel, go to
restaurants, and other social settings.8
Not only did Trudeau apply these tactics to pressure Canadians into
taking the injections, but he and his government gave money to
provincial governments who agreed to do the same.9
Provincial Health Officers have declared vaccine passports are not
correlated with COVID-19 transmissions but rather serve as an incentive
to get the COVID-19 treatment injection.10
If that wasn’t enough, reports have recently come out that the federal
government was actively tracking the movement of its citizens through
cellular phone data without Canadians being aware.11
At the time of writing, there is an open contract from the Government
of Canada requesting bidders to provide “access to cell-tower/operator
location data” to “assist in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”12
Former Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioner, Ann Cavoukian,
advised that the government could not be trusted with the data, and that
privacy commissioners should be involved.13
The
extreme measures Justin Trudeau is taking do not coincide with the
evidence surrounding the COVID-19 health situation. The claims that
these measures are to combat a health emergency contradict continually
mounting evidence that demonstrates the information behind this
pandemic, including hospital COVID-19 numbers, have been misleading.14
Trudeau’s government has already rewritten laws to force healthy
federal employees, including military personnel, to be on unpaid leave
indefinitely publicly declaring them a health risk. This is despite the
fact that some healthcare workers are being allowed back to work in
hospitals even after testing positive with COVID-19.15
Justin
Trudeau’s actions appear to be a continuous attempt to divide Canadians.
In an interview aired in September 2021, Trudeau stated, “We all know
people who are deciding whether or not they are willing to get
vaccinated, and we will do our very best to try to convince them.
However, there is still a part of the population that is fiercely
against it. They don’t believe in science and progress and are very
often misogynistic and racist. It’s a very small group of people, but
that doesn’t shy away from the fact that they take up some space. This
leads us, as a leader and as a country, to make a choice: Do we tolerate
these people?”16
(the statement was delivered in French but was translated to English).
On January 5, 2022, Trudeau commented that the public was angry with the
“risk posed to us by unvaccinated people”.17 Trudeau's
comments are divisive and incite hatred toward an identifiable group
society has inappropriately labeled as “anti-vaxxers”; a dangerous and
derogatory address. The Supreme Court of Canada determined that a
"societal handicap"; society’s response to a real or perceived
disability, should be the focus of a discrimination analysis.18
The Ontario Human Rights Code defines Disability as a person who does
not currently have a disability, but they are treated adversely because
of a perception that they will eventually develop a disability, become a
burden, pose a risk, and/or require accommodation.19
There is no question that Trudeau’s comments amount to hate speech with
the intent to cause harm to an identifiable group. Trudeau’s actions
are criminal.
Ma’am,
these hostile actions taken by Justin Trudeau and his government are
unjustifiable. They are implementing measures at a speed that is simply
impossible to be challenged in a timely manner in court. Trudeau and his
government need to be stopped to provide the courts and Canadians
enough time to process and understand the situation. Trudeau and his
government have continued to push the line of government intrusion on
the rights and freedoms of Canadians. There appears to be no end in
sight as long as these overreaching actions go unchecked. Ma’am, it is
imperative that you act now without hesitation. Canadians need you more
than they have ever needed any Governor General in the history of our
country. You can send a message. A message that will reaffirm Canada is a
Constitutional Monarchy, a democratic country, and its citizens have
fundamental rights and freedoms protected by the proper checks and
balances against elected politicians who might seek powers in excess of
those conferred by the constitution, and ultimately as a safeguard
against dictatorship. Much of what you have worked toward in your career
and personal life is at risk of being swept away if the heinous actions
of Trudeau and his government are permitted to continue unchecked.
Though
Justin Trudeau won the majority of the seats in the House of Commons in
the last election, this merely demonstrates a flaw in our electoral
process. Votes for Trudeau’s party only accounted for less than 33% of
the votes.20
These are important figures because as Trudeau continues to prolong his
COVID-19 response and incite hatred, more and more people are losing
confidence in his government and his agenda. This means there are over
11 million voters who could potentially unite against Trudeau’s
government. These numbers do not include those who did not vote or those
who had voted for Trudeau but have since changed their mind about his
policies and actions. Trudeau speaks as if he represents the beliefs of
the majority of Canadians, when in fact he speaks for a much smaller
group. Does he speak for you?
On
January 3, 2022, regarding military personnel being deployed in the
Montreal area, a news report stated, “Forces personnel will begin their
deployment today to provide support to the province’s vaccination
campaign.”21
Deploying the military on Canadian soil, to a large urban area, to
assist with what appears to be a politically motivated medical treatment
campaign, which has been proven to be overwhelmingly ineffective, is
another unjustifiable step toward a unchecked authoritarian government.
As Commander-in-chief of the Canadian Armed Forces, you have the
authority to halt all military involvement with the current COVID-19
response. We request this be done immediately. The bottom line is, the
majority of people in this country do not want Justin Trudeau as their
leader. Mounties For Freedom has always hoped to prevent the escalation
of public unrest, however we cannot control the actions of over 11
million people.
We once
again humbly ask that you consider what is at stake for our country and
cease all military involvement with Prime Minister Trudeau’s “vaccine”
campaign and that you dissolve parliament. Give Canadians an opportunity
to see that you too recognize something is wrong and send a message to
other political leaders that the behaviour shown by Prime Minister
Trudeau and his government will not be tolerated in a free and
democratic Canada. We kindly request representatives from Mounties For
Freedom be allowed to meet with your Excellency so that we can provide
you with additional information and answer any questions you may have in
a timely manner.
Thank you for your time, we await your response.
Sincerely,
Mounties For Freedom

The Honourable David Lametti PC QC MP
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada
Department of Justice Canada
284 Wellington Street
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H8
Honourable David Lametti,
This
letter was created from the collective thoughts, beliefs, and opinions
of many actively serving police officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police (RCMP) from across the country. We come from various ranks,
levels of experience, communities, cultural backgrounds, religious
beliefs, and vaccination statuses. Together, we are the Mounties For
Freedom. We are individual police officers united in the belief that
citizens, including federal employees, should not be forced and coerced
into taking medical interventions.
It
is with great urgency that we write this letter. On October 21, 2021,
we wrote an open letter to RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki outlining our
concerns and asked that she reply with her plan of action. Commissioner
Lucki has yet to respond, leaving us no choice but to seek assistance
elsewhere. For your convenience, we have attached a copy of our letter
to Commissioner Lucki for your review.
As
police officers, we are sometimes required to protect the rights of
people that we may not agree with. We do this knowing we serve a higher
purpose and that the rule of law, the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms (the Charter), and our Constitution serve a greater good. As
Attorney General, you have a responsibility to apply the rule of law
fairly and without political bias. Like us, your role serves a higher
purpose. For reasons outlined below, it is imperative that you take
action to allow for a fair and transparent investigation to take place.
We have read the open letter you received from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dated December 13, 2019,1
in which he outlines his expectations of you, in your position of
Attorney General. For the remainder of the letter, we will reference it
in italics to help articulate our explanation.
“It
is more important than ever for Canadians to unite and build a
stronger, more inclusive and more resilient country. The Government of
Canada is the central institution to promote that unity of purpose and,
as a Minister in that Government, you have a personal duty and
responsibility to fulfill that objective. That starts with a commitment
to govern in a positive, open and collaborative way.” 1
Far
from being inclusive, the discrimination that has already created
segregation in our country has divided families, ended friendships, torn
apart spouses, and entered the workplace. We believe the current
messaging propagated by our federal government and provincial
governments are promoting the creation of an in-group referred to as
“Vaccinated” and an out-group as “Unvaccinated”. Even worse, the
out-group has been labelled “Anti-vaxxers,” a term used out of context
in a negative and derogatory way. The messaging from our governments is
causing the dehumanization of the “Unvaccinated” group. In 2015, Prime
Minister Trudeau’s message was, “A Canadian, is a Canadian, is a
Canadian.”2
In September 2021, Prime Minister Trudeau stated, “We're paying for the
provincial vaccine passports to make sure that when someone comes into a
restaurant, they'll know they won't be sitting next to a table of
people who are unvaccinated…And those people who still hesitate, who
still resist, well, they won't get to enjoy the same things as those who
have done their part for others.”3 By dehumanizing the out-group, an institution creates a greater divide between them and the in-group.4
“I also expect us to continue to raise the bar on openness, effectiveness and transparency in government. This means a government that is open by default…It also means humility and continuing to acknowledge mistakes when we make them. Canadians do not expect us to be perfect; they expect us to be diligent, honest, open and sincere in our efforts to serve the public interest.”1
It
was surprising for us to learn that several scientists and doctors, who
questioned the information fueling the COVID-19 mandates, spoke of
censorship.5,6
As experienced investigators, we know it is our responsibility to
present all available facts to the public, by proxy of the courts. It is
not our place to decide what the outcome of an investigation should be.
Presenting evidence that merely supports one side, while ignoring or
refusing to acknowledge substantial evidence from another side, is wrong
and tarnishes an investigation. Why then are we allowing this same
behaviour to occur by public figures? There are accredited medical
professionals from our own country who are desperately trying to have
their findings heard. Instead of allowing these professionals to speak
freely and discuss their results publicly, they are being silenced by
governing bodies.5,6
Our
vast experiences in law enforcement and as investigators have allowed
us to see how crucial it is that these medical professionals be allowed
to speak openly and publicly. Without their information being included
in discussions, we believe the citizens of Canada are not receiving the
information they need to make an informed decision.
These
medical professionals must be allowed to share their information
publicly to maintain people’s faith in the government. If the people
believe the government is continuing to censor experts, the country will
fall into instability. This is common around the world in countries in
which tyrannical governments sensor information from their people.
“We
are committed to evidence-based decision-making that takes into
consideration the impacts of policies on all Canadians and fully defends
the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”1
The Charter protects fundamental rights and freedoms essential to keeping Canada a free and democratic society.7
Section 2 of The Charter guarantees these fundamental freedoms through
the freedom of conscience (subsection a) and the freedom of thought,
belief, opinion, and expression (subsection b).8 Without
individuals having the freedom to choose, we would not have a
democratic society. We believe our federal and provincial governments
have failed to uphold the Charter. As you know, the Charter does not
guarantee absolute freedoms. If the government is going to limit
freedoms, it must establish that the limitations are reasonable given
all available facts. The government must adhere to a process to prove
their actions are appropriate, called the Oakes test. We firmly believe,
if presented with all available evidence in a court, the government
implemented mandates would not pass the Oakes test. At the time of
writing this letter, the Charter’s section 33 Notwithstanding Clause has
not been invoked for this pandemic.
“As
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, you will continue
to ensure that our Government’s initiatives respect the Constitution and
the rule of law, and that they are in keeping with Canada’s proud legal
traditions. You will continue to ensure that the rights of Canadians
are protected, including through your strong support for the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms. As Minister of Justice, you will see
that the administration of public affairs is in accordance with the law.
As Attorney General of Canada, you will uphold the Constitution, the
rule of law, and the independence of the judiciary and of the
prosecutorial function.”1
The
Canadian Bill of Rights states, “…the Canadian Nation is founded upon
principles that acknowledge …the dignity and worth of the human person
and the position of the family in a society of free men and free
institutions…Affirming also that men and institutions remain free only
when freedom is founded upon respect for moral and spiritual values and
the rule of law.”9
Requiring
mandatory COVID-19 treatment options infringes on the fundamental
belief in our society that the individual has the right and freedom to
choose. The choice of whether to receive medical treatments has always
been an individual’s right in Canada. The Canadian National Report on
Immunization (1996) stated, “Immunization is not mandatory in Canada; it
cannot be made mandatory because of the Canadian Constitution.”10
Though the Nuremberg Code is not a law, it is internationally accepted and falls in line with the spirit of our Charter and Bill of Rights. A key component of the Nuremberg Code is that participants in any medical experiment need to participate voluntarily without any form of force or coercion.11 We have obtained documentation from several Canadian doctors who have explained the current COVID-19 treatment options in Canada, being referred to as “vaccines”, were recently authorized as new drugs despite the absence of long-term data.12 According to these accredited Canadian doctors, these treatment options did not meet the criteria of true vaccines until very recently, when the definition of vaccine was changed.13,14 Without long-term data, these vaccines are still experimental. We strongly believe the act of removing the rights and freedoms of citizens who refuse to participate in specific COVID-19 treatment options is a form of coercion and against the spirit of our Constitution.
“We
have committed to an open, honest government that is accountable to
Canadians, lives up to the highest ethical standards…I expect you to
embody these values in your work and observe the highest ethical
standards in everything you do. I want Canadians to look on their own
government with pride and trust.”1
The
Government of Canada should be the ideal model of an organization in
this country. Its actions should be inclusive, tolerant, and reflective
of the Constitution and the Charter. Why has our federal government made
it mandatory for employees working from home to receive the COVID-19
treatment injections?15 Being
employed by the federal government now means you have fewer rights and
freedoms than if you were to work for an employer that does dictate
mandatory treatments for their employees.
Regardless
of their vaccination statuses, there are RCMP members who feel the
steps taken by the federal and provincial governments are too extreme
and do not have the best interest of Canadian citizens. A recent report
commissioned by the federal government demonstrates that public funding
was used to collect data on Canadians to find effective ways to pressure
them into taking a COVID-19 treatment injection.16
Applying these pressures, while withholding information, is coercive.
Forcing these mandates will cause numerous RCMP officers to lose faith
in the federal government’s commitment to the Charter. These RCMP
officers will not participate in actions they believe contradict their
morals, ethics, and Canadian laws. These RCMP officers believe it is
their responsibility to challenge the federal government in court if
necessary.
“Give
particular attention to the Ethical Guidelines…you must uphold the
highest standards of honesty and impartiality…the performance of your
official duties…should bear the closest public scrutiny. This is an
obligation that is not fully discharged by simply acting within the
law.”1
We
ask that you follow the guidelines provided to you in writing by the
Prime Minister. We ask that you arrange for a fair, public, and
transparent investigation to take place. We have credible witnesses who
will provide credible testimonies should they be given the opportunity.
At this time, these witnesses are reluctant to come forward for fear
there will not be a fair opportunity or trial in which they can present
their evidence. We kindly request representatives from Mounties For
Freedom be allowed to meet with you to discuss the details of this
investigation further.
We await your response.
Sincerely,
Mounties For Freedom

Overall Health of RCMP Members
Brian Sauvé,
Since the summer of 2021, I’ve had several bad experiences with the NPF and only a couple of good ones. I would normally source all the information in my emails, but it’s been my experience that the NPF representatives either won’t have the time to look at it or do not care to look at it. Either way, know that I can back everything up I have in this email and I’m willing to provide the relevant material if asked.
I’m writing to you today to discuss an issue I have concerning the overall mental and physical health of NPF’s membership. As you are well aware, several members across the country have been forced onto unpaid leave. Several other members are on ODS for various stress-related reasons. The NPF has failed time and time again to acknowledge what these members are going through. When November 15, 2021, hit and members began getting forced into a made-up unpaid leave category, Commissioner Lucki celebrated by announcing her annual Christmas card competition. When members looked to the NPF for a more compassionate response, they received silence. It’s always tough in those situations to figure out why the people who were supposed to stand up for you stayed silent. Was it because you didn’t have what it took to stand up and say something, or was it because you secretly agreed with how the members were being treated? The problem with your silence is that you left it up to everyone else to decide for themselves.
Even over the holiday season, there was no acknowledgement from the NPF that several members were experiencing a tough Christmas or a rough start to the new year. NPF is treating these members like they don’t exist. Some of whom are still paying union dues. Members look around and see small wins for police in other outfits who can come to work with testing. Members see that nurses who test positive for COVID-19 are still allowed back at work. I know that you don’t have control over Trudeau’s voice, but you do have control over your own. When members see these things and the NPF stays silent, it hurts. When members read a holiday news update and see no acknowledgment of the situation they’re in, after the sacrifices they’ve made in their careers, they feel abandoned.
It’s not unusual for police officers to be criticized for making work their whole lives. Members will often spend more time at work than they will with their families. A member’s career is their identity. When that is stripped away from them, and the people who were supposed to be there supporting them are silent, the pain can become unbearable.
Your leadership is allowing the NPF to abandon these members. Why are you so quick to ignore them? So quick to forget about them? Are you trying to break their spirit? Do you despise these members and want them gone? Do you want them to feel alone and hopeless? Regardless of your answers to these rhetorical questions, your actions speak volumes.
I ask that you carefully consider the psychological suffering and damage these members are enduring and that you remember your actions are working at tearing them down instead of supporting them. If you are unable to demonstrate compassion for these members, I suggest you allow someone to take your place who can.

RCMP members suffering adverse effects from Covid-19 Vaccines
Brian Sauvé,
Since the summer of 2021, I’ve had several bad experiences with the NPF and only a couple of good ones. I would normally source all the information in my emails, but it’s been my experience that the NPF representatives either won’t have the time to look at it or do not care to look at it. Either way, know that I can back everything up I have in this email and I’m willing to provide the relevant material if asked.
I’m writing to you today to discuss an issue concerning the NPF’s silence around the adverse effects some members have received from the COVID-19 treatment injections. I’ve been in contact with plenty of members who have received adverse reactions to the injections. Why hasn’t the NPF made it well known that members have suffered these injuries? You should be interested in reaching out to the membership to make sure nobody suffers in silence. We’ve learnt from countless victims that people often won’t report things if they think they will be labelled or ridiculed for speaking up against someone or something that is generally trusted by others. With the messaging from the media being that injections are “safe and effective” it wouldn’t be a hard stretch to imagine members may not want to come forward with injuries.
But you have had members come forward. Multiple members. And I know members who have been injured but refuse to come forward because they haven’t heard of other members coming forward. They don’t believe they’ll be taken seriously. You could easily remedy this by sending an email out to the membership and advising them that the NPF has received multiple reports of adverse reactions to the injections. Make them feel safe and supported for coming forward. Make sure they get the attention and treatment they need.
Over the past several months, when it comes to representing the interest of its members during the COVID-19 response, the NPF has been taking the classic RCMP “sit back and wait” approach. Much like the RCMP, this is resulting in members being injured. Please break this habit and send an email broadcast letting members know that there have been multiple reports of adverse reactions to the injections, and encourage members to reach out to the NPF for guidance and support.

RCMP Failure to Abide by Canada Labour Code
Brian Sauvé,
Since the summer of 2021, I’ve had several bad experiences with the NPF and only a couple of good ones. I would normally source all the information in my emails, but it’s been my experience that the NPF representatives either won’t have the time to look at it or do not care to look at it. Either way, know that I can back everything up I have in this email and I’m willing to provide the relevant material if asked.
I’m writing to you today to discuss an issue I have concerning the RCMP’s failure to abide by the Canada Labour Code. As you know, several members were required to watch a video discussing how the COVID-19 treatment injections (referred to as vaccines in the course) were safe and effective. The course failed to properly identify the level of risk associated with the injections. This is contrary to section 125 of the Canada Labour Code and should be addressed immediately. There are multiple members I’ve been in contact with who have received adverse reactions to these injections. I don’t think it would be out of the question to say this course may have influenced some of those members into taking the injection. It’s imperative that the training course be removed immediately until it’s updated and members are made aware of the full risks (as required under the Canada Labour Code).
I provided NPF representatives with this information and the documentation from medical professionals that articulated the risks involved with the injections. From the responses I received, I understand that the NPF board reviewed the information and determined it was not worth challenging. I’m curious to know who on the NPF board is qualified to dismiss information from a doctor specializing in immunology?
When the NPF board refused to raise an issue with the RCMP regarding the safety issues in the course, I asked the NPF to assist me in filing a grievance against the course. The response I received from the NPF was that I wasn’t one of the people who had been made to do the course, and therefore I was not aggrieved. It’s bewildering that the NPF ignored the overall point that I shouldn’t have had to go through a grievance process to put a stop to a health and safety issue. Under Article 19 of our CBA, this issue could have, and should have, been addressed by the NPF in the first instance.
Under your leadership, the NPF is failing to meet the basic requirements as a representative for its membership. Under your leadership, the NPF is failing to address a health and safety issue. What’s worse, members are receiving life-threatening reactions that prevent them from returning to their duties and you are still refusing to do your part by addressing this. I don’t pay union dues for a union to come up with excuses as to why it shouldn’t have to do its job. The NPF has put this task off too long, and it needs to be addressed immediately.

Reassess Legal Opinion
Brian Sauvé
Since the summer of 2021, I’ve had several bad experiences with the NPF and only a couple of good ones. I would normally source all the information in my emails, but it’s been my experience that the NPF representatives either won’t have the time to look at it or do not care to look at it. Either way, know that I can back everything up I have in this email and I’m willing to provide the relevant material if asked.
Several months ago, I was informed that the NPF sought a legal opinion regarding the mandates. There were a lot of cut-and-paste responses given about why the NPF was not challenging the mandates. There were a lot of wishy-washy explanations given at the time as to why the NPF would not be pursuing that avenue.
Several months have passed and some of the information we had a year ago, or even in the summer, has changed or been proven incorrect. In other Western democratic societies, we have seen that court challenges have been successful at the very least of slowing mandates down and allowing for more discussion and information to be brought forward. Groups have come together and spoken out against the legality behind the tyrannical mandates of our governments. Lawyers within our own country have started to speak up more about the actions of our government being both unconstitutional and illegal.
Some employers have changed their approach to COVID-19 mandates after understanding the ramifications of their actions. I ask that the NPF reconsider the new information and seek an updated legal opinion on supporting its membership. There is more to consider than just the cost of hiring a legal team. There is more to consider than just the cost of hiring a legal team. There is a cost to the well-being of your membership who feel unsupported. There is a cost to the communities that aren’t receiving the service of several experienced officers. There’s a cost to the members at work who are working harder to fill the void of their coworkers.
Please factor in the totality of the situation and seek out an updated legal opinion. Please be transparent and share the result with the membership.

Veteran rips Trudeau’s treatment of truckers: ‘Treating Canadians like terrorists’
One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church: Going Out of Business?
by Harold Ristau
With the decline of people in the pew, I have increasingly noticed in the smaller congregations that I visit a more “selective” passing of the offering plate along the pews after the sermon. Instead of passing it from one lap to the next, I have witnessed ushers only targeting those that they recognize as givers, while trying not to disturb those that they believe are unlikely to place something into the plate: either because they are children, the spouse of a giver, they give electronically, are a first time visitor, or for some other reason.
This kind of practice may make sense if we see the offering plate as a “collection plate,” as many protestants do. For many, the intent of passing the plate, bag, or bucket around the pews, chairs or bleachers is to collect money from the people who, best case scenario, are so grateful for the sermon that they naturally want to ensure that this preaching continues—like opting to give money to your favourite charity. But the passing of the offering plate (notice that I didn’t say “collection plate”) is better viewed as a wonderful liturgical act rich with meaning, than as an opportunity to get money from people.
Giving God His Own
In the Old Testament, while the offerings were used to support the priests, Levites and the poor, their primary purpose was as a sign that acknowledged all good things came from God. It is particularly appropriate for us to have the offering in our services take place after hearing His Gospel proclaimed in the sermon. In some sense, it is a symbol of us giving back to God out of gratitude for what He has given to us. After all, nothing we own belongs to us. It is all God’s and just “on loan” to us. We sing “We give thee but thine own, Whate’er these gifts may be; All that we have is Thine alone, A Trust, O Lord, from Thee” (LSB 781).
In other words, God doesn’t need our money! It’s already His—all of it. We actually give to a church that doesn’t need it. Instead He desires that we give, not because He benefits from it, but because we do. In that sense, you could say the offering plate is a worthwhile act to pass to each individual, even if it comes back empty. It symbolizes us putting our very selves into the plate, and no amount of money that we give can do the image justice. By contrast, the direct deposit route—where believers ensure that the pre-authorized “tithe” is automatically shaved off the monthly work cheque—can sometimes be misconstrued as if we are paying our “membership fees” to the church club.
I recall as a pastor in an inner-city church, how some of the attendees who struggled with mental health issues and financial poverty would sometimes place household objects in the offering plate, such as old jewellery. Although it was hard not to snicker, these guests offered a very good illustration of the point. When the widow brings her two pennies, which are of very little practical good (what good can two pennies do in the operation of the Temple!), Jesus praises her for her sincerity, innocence, and humility. She gave one hundred per cent of what she had. She gave herself back to God. So the question isn’t about what amount of money one is willing to give up, but who has faith and who doesn’t.
The offering plate doesn’t “collect” stuff from us that God doesn’t already have. Or, if it does, it does so in this sense: it “offers” back to God the only thing that He doesn’t have but wishes to possess: our sin. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). This is why in LSB setting three, after hearing the sermon, we sing Psalm 51 as the “Offertory” (“Create in me a clean heart, O God”)—before we pass the plates. We give Him ourselves in response to Him giving us Himself. What a surprising but blessed exchange!
The Church is Not a Business
When we understand the purpose of the offering in this biblical manner, we find ourselves repenting of viewing His church as a corporation, business, or even bank, in which God functions as the CEO. A lot of Christians go into panic mode when they look at their church’s “financial situation.” When there is not a lot of money in the bank, church members don’t like to “dip into their savings” and feel the need instead to “save up for a rainy day.” I believe that every Christian knows that this attitude expresses a lack of faith, although we try to convince ourselves that to think otherwise is irresponsible. After all, the world doesn’t work that way. What kind of company doesn’t save up?
The answer is God’s! The church is in no other business than giving, by the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus’ death for us on the cross. And an empty bank account means that the congregation is doing what Jesus wants them to do: supporting the pastor and his family, spreading the Gospel through missions, and feeding the poor. Financially stable congregations can sin in the same way, when they believe that their financial health can be attributed to their great planning as opposed to God’s grace. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin (Romans 14:23).
The church is in no other business than giving, by the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus’ death for us on the cross.
Our obsession with saving can often arise from simply not trusting. And saving is definitely not from faith when God says spend! Thus, God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). In a sense, to hold back the financial offerings given to the church by believers with the intent to do certain things like supporting clergy salaries, outreach, and good works in the neighbourhood and around the world, is a sin against the seventh commandment. Yes, stealing! The Holy Spirit moves people to give to the church for certain clear purposes laid out in Holy Scriptures; by not using it in those ways we are misusing that which has been entrusted to us by God through them.
Voters assemblies could argue that it is their intent to eventually use the funds in those ways. But doesn’t the parable of the barns have something to say here? And related to that, whatever happened to faith and trusting God? Even if our church should shut down someday, wouldn’t we want to know that we had never stopped following God’s will? His “hidden will” may make us uncomfortable since we have no control over it, and it may not match our own. For the sceptic who assumes that a zero balance in the church bank account is a sign of bad stewardship, let’s pretend that on Judgement Day the topic comes up with God. If He were to challenge us by saying something like, “Why didn’t you put my money in the bank in order to save it for that rainy day?” we could say, “Lord we were just doing what you asked.” Do you really think He would accuse us of trusting Him too much or chastising our generousness?
God has a Plan
Our faith-driven decision to “spend all the church’s money” might look foolish and irresponsible to the world—as foolish and irresponsible as the innocent Son of Man volunteering to die on a cross as a criminal. But even if our local church should close some day, we can even rejoice in the midst of that (1 Thessalonians 5:18)—for perhaps, in some strange way, even that may be in keeping with God’s Will and part of His larger plan of salvation for the world as He prepares us for His Second Coming. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer once wrote: “It is not we who build. Christ builds the church. No man builds the church but Christ alone. Whoever is minded to build the church is surely well on the way to destroying it; for he will build a temple to idols without wishing or knowing it. We must confess. He builds. We must proclaim—He builds. We must pray to Him—that He may build.”
Bonhoeffer continues: “We do not know His plans. We cannot see whether He is building or pulling down. It may be that the times which by human standards are times of collapse are for Him the great times of construction. It may be that the times which from a human point of view are great times for the church are times when it is pulled down.”
We know God’s will as revealed in the Holy Scriptures—how to live and believe rightly—but we do not know all His plans. Clearly, His will is that we live by faith, tossing all those things which we believe we need and cannot live without (i.e. idols) at the foot of His cross, and entrusting ourselves and our Church into His wounded yet powerful hands. After all, the Church that will never go broke, and is as glorious as it could ever be, is the one that awaits all the elect, in the place “where neither moth nor rust destroy” (Matthew 6:20).
The mission of all of our local churches is to continue to build and support that eternal Church. And when our efforts are focused there, driven by faith instead of doubt, in repentance for all dependence on our human efforts towards ensuring “success,” then the result will never disappoint—even if that includes poverty or even the closure of some buildings. It may be hard for human reason to accept, but believe it or not, God loves your church more than you do. And He can actually do something about the crises in which we find ourselves. But usually His doing involves us giving: giving our wisdom, intelligence, finances, and very selves to Him, to do with them as He knows best—for you, for me, and for His holy Church that stretches into eternity.

How the end of the downtown occupation unfolded in Ottawa
A timeline of events over Family Day weekend in the nation's capital
It was a Family Day weekend the likes of which Ottawa has never seen, as three weeks of enduring protests were brought to a swift end. Starting last Friday, unprecedented police action pushed demonstrators off of Wellington Street and moved trucks occupying the downtown core since Jan. 29.
Here's how it all unfolded.
Thursday
Heading into the long weekend, police warn protesters to move out of the area and the Children's Aid Society calls on parents to take their kids out of the area due to "potential police action."
Interim Ottawa police Chief Steve Bell warns a major increase of police officers will be seen throughout the core.

A secure perimeter is set up and, according to police, there are 100 checkpoints. All highway off-ramps to downtown streets are closed, but some on-ramps remain open so people can leave town.
Friday
Five days after the federal government invokes the Emergencies Act, police forces from across the country start moving in to disperse protesters.
On Friday morning, the first area to see police action is around Nicholas Street and the Mackenzie King Bridge. Police warn people to leave the area. As officers move in, several arrests are made and a truck's windows are smashed.
Shortly after 11 a.m., police line up on Rideau Street near Joey's restaurant and begin to move westward. At the same time, rows and rows of officers form on Colonel By Drive near the Westin Hotel. The police contingent includes public order units and members from forces across the country. Bringing up the rear are eight officers on horseback and a tactical vehicle.
Protesters move to Colonel By to stand nose-to-nose with police, yelling "Hold the line." Every 10 minutes or so, police move northward a few steps and come into physical contact with protesters. Some protesters are arrested.
People wave flags and shout at the police as they are pushed onto Rideau Street.
By 1:30 p.m., police move all protesters out of the ByWard Market, off Sussex Drive and off Colonel By Drive. Police, including the Sûreté du Quebec, eventually form a line from the front door of the Château Laurier hotel, across Rideau Street, to the Senate building.
New protesters arrive and some children are in the crowd. Some parents have brought their kids to the occupation to "witness history." Police earlier estimated about 25 per cent of the trucks have children.
A protester sings 'O Canada' as they are arrested after trying to push through a line of police officers on Friday. (Justin Tang/Canadian Press)
Throughout the afternoon, witnesses say the atmosphere is tense, demonstrators are loud and animated. A wall of officers slowly moves in, pushing the crowd. Physical contact with officers leads to some arrests.
Late in the afternoon, mounted police on Rideau Street near the Château Laurier attempt to create space between protesters and officers, according to police.
In the pushing and shoving, people are knocked down by horses, including a woman with a walker, who is reportedly injured. This incident is now being investigated by the police oversight body called the Special Investigations Unit.
Social media and U.S. media outlets spread rumours the woman was trampled and killed. This is later confirmed to be untrue.
By Friday night, several trucks have left the core, but the "party" atmosphere continues in front of the Château Laurier and along Wellington Street.
By end of day, police say they've arrested 100 people. including three of the protest leaders: Chris Barber, Tamara Lich and Pat King. Barber is released on bail and ordered to leave the city within 24 hours.
Saturday
On Saturday morning shortly after 9 a.m, police wearing helmets and armed with batons pour out of the Château Laurier, moving quickly along Wellington Street, pressing protesters west past Elgin Street. Police clear out protesters gathered around the National War Memorial.
At Metcalfe Street, right in front of the gates of Parliament Hill, there's a melee as police say protesters throw a gas canister.
A person cries out after police deployed a chemical riot control agent as they take action along Wellington Street to put an end to the protest. (Justin Tang/Canadian Press)
Police announce another protest organizer, Pat King, faces four charges. Protest co-organizer Tamara Lich has a court appearance, but remains in custody.
Police use "a device" to create a loud bang during their advance and report one protester had also "launched a gas canister" at officers.
Officers, including those on horseback, push the protesters from the west end of Wellington Street, making more arrests.
Some of the people arrested are in "body armour" and have smoke grenades and fireworks in their bags, according to police.
By noon, all protesters have been corralled onto O'Connor Street, near Sparks Street. Police say protesters become "assaultive" and officers use pepper spray. People use snow to wipe out their eyes.
Ottawa police also appeal to people to stop flooding its 911 line as a means to "express displeasure about the police action."
A Canadian police officer pepper sprays a demonstrator as they work to restore normality to the capital while trucks and demonstrators continue to occupy the downtown core. (Carlos Osorio/Reuters)
Late Saturday afternoon, protesters gather on Bank Street between Sparks and Queen streets. A speaker is set up blaring music and people with flags and signs dance on the street.
Once Wellington is cleared of demonstrators, workers move in to put up more temporary fences to keep them out.
Police on Saturday move in to clear downtown Ottawa near Parliament hill of protesters after weeks of demonstrations. (Justin Tang/Canadian Press)
A statement from the so-called "Freedom Convoy," one of the main organizing groups, calls out what it describes as police brutality. Social media posts allege police are using excessive force during arrests.
On Saturday evening, a police tweet says protesters assaulted officers with weapons "warranting the deployment of mid range impact weapons." This leads to the launch of a second investigation by the SIU.
Sunday
On Sunday, Ottawa's mayor says vehicles seized during the crackdown should be sold to cover costs incurred by the city.
Some children remain front and centre in the crowds over the weekend.
By Sunday afternoon, police say they have made 191 arrests, and laid 389 charges against 103 people. Most have been released on bail conditions that include being prohibited from going into the protest area. Police have also towed 79 vehicles including heavy trucks, pickup trucks and cars.
The interim police chief says the investigation will "go on for months to come."
Residents enjoy the quiet as city crews clean up the main protest site. Officers move in on the supply camp on Coventry Road.
Monday
It's a bit of a ghost town in Ottawa's downtown core after the end of a raucous protest, but police checkpoints remain to stop protesters from returning. However, the downtown LRT stations reopen.
Cleanup efforts continue now that trucks and protesters are gone from the core.
Police send social media messages that only parliamentary employees are permitted north of Sparks Street, between Elgin and Bay streets. Wellington Street remains closed to all traffic.
Debris sits on the ground in front of Parliament Hill’s gates after police took action to clear the street of trucks and protesters. (Justin Tang/Canadian Press)
Some members of the truck convoy are reported to be regrouping outside the city as more than 50 vehicles are seen over the weekend in Vankleek Hill, Ont.
The City of Ottawa warns any communications involving financial compensation, which appear to come from the city, due to the convoy protests are not authentic.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defends his government's use of the Emergencies Act as MPs prepare to vote on the act. The House of Commons approves its use.

CEASE & DESIST SERVED TO CORE FEDERAL DEPARTMENTS
Wednesday, January 26, 2022
FEDS FOR FREEDOM
FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
This notice is to inform the press and the public at large, that today the President, Secretary and Chief Human Resources Officer of the Treasury Board (the official employer of federal public servants) have been served with a Cease and Desist letter regarding the federal vaccination mandate for public servants.
Today, January 26th 2022, the lawyers for Feds For Freedom, a not-for-profit advocacy organization for public servants, served The Honorable Mona Fortier, Peter Wallace, Christine Donughue along with all Departmental Ministers of the Core Public Service Administration under the Treasury Board Secretariat. These documents put the individuals served on notice that the federal vaccine mandates are unjustifiable, unconstitutional and criminal in nature. Feds For Freedom maintains that bodily autonomy and informed consent, free of coercion, intimidation or bullying are fundamental rights that are inviolable. The consequences laid out by legal counsel include, but are not limited to:
- Numerous charter rights challenges;
- Legal action against the Government of Canada; and
- Applications seeking injunctive relief and punitive damages.
As federal public servants, we have had our livelihoods stripped from us; we have endured unprecedented amounts stress and hardships. We have been harassed, ridiculed, mocked and had hatred and violence incited against us. This type of abusive behavior cannot and will not be tolerated; we expect and request an expeditious response.

Mayoral candidate, pastor granted release pending contempt hearing for
breaching public health orders

2021. Photo by Larry Wong/Postmedia
Mayoral candidate Kevin J. Johnston was granted his release Monday
after being arrested Saturday for breaching a court order that
required him to comply with COVID-19 public health restrictions.
But Johnston complained the condition of his release — that he comply
with masking requirements, along with other orders issued by chief
medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw — might be difficult for
him to follow, pending a June 16 contempt of court hearing.
“I’m already feeling the anxiety,” Johnston told a virtual court
hearing, as he sat, masked, in the prisoner’s box in a Calgary Court
of Queen’s Bench courtroom where the judge and lawyers appeared on
video link.
“I simply cannot wear a mask for that period of time,” he said. “I’m
already feeling the anxiety of this right now and I’m sweating. I’m
bothered by having to have this on; I could not possibly wear a mask
for that entire amount of time.”
But Justice Adam Germain told Johnston that he wouldn’t have to wear a
mask 24 hours a day; he only had to comply with restrictions regarding
masking, social distancing and limited attendance at gatherings.
“There’s nothing in these health orders that requires you to wear a
mask in your own abode,” the judge said. “(Your lawyer Ian) McCuaig
will get the health orders and brief you on them.”
McCuaig, who appeared via WebEx from his Toronto office, said Johnston
might raise issues of free speech as a political candidate as a
defence to his alleged breach of the court order restricting his
activities.
Before Johnston’s court appearance, Fairview Baptist Church pastor Tim
Stephens appeared for his release hearing.
Albert Health Services lawyer Kyle Fowler agreed to his release on
condition he comply with a May 6 order prohibiting non-compliance with
public heath guidelines.
Lawyer Leighton Grey said Stephens, who was arrested Sunday for
holding a service without complying with the restrictions, may argue
an amendment to the initial court order of Justice John Rooke meant
that pronouncement no longer applied to the pastor.
He too will face a contempt hearing on June 16.
