Prime Minister Trudeau, family headed to Jamaica for weeklong holiday vacation

PMO says Trudeau will remain in constant contact with Ottawa during trip

The Prime Minister's Office says Trudeau will remain in constant contact with Ottawa during the trip and continue to be briefed and updated on issues.

The PMO also says it checked with the federal ethics commissioner in advance of the travel to make sure it follows guidelines.

Trudeau had been found in violation of conflict-of-interest rules in 2017 after a 2016 vacation he took to the Aga Khan's private island in the Bahamas.

The prime minister must fly on a Royal Canadian Air Force plane for security reasons, even if it's for personal travel.

The family's flights to and from Costa Rica over the Christmas holiday in 2019 cost the government about $57,000 and thousands more were spent on flight crews' stay in San Jose.

A week vacation for him, increasing cost of living for the rest of us
But don't worry, your hard earned tax dollars are paying for infrastructure in other countries, you can sleep easy now

What a disservice to your fellow Canadians it was by voting for this guy

Yep, just think of the mess and offshore stuff if I had voted for the cons. The cost of living would be twice as high. Just look at the countries which have con governments.

no dear, look at the countries who use the same undemocratic election system we do which gives absolute totalitarian control over citizens. Countries like china, russia, bolivia, south africa, ukraine, nambia. We are NOT living in a democracy. When 33% of the votes give the liberals 47% of the seats/power, there is something horribly wrong.

Ah yes there it is... the cons "would have been worse" response.. you have no idea how they would have been worse, you just know the media is anti-conservative and praises the Liberals/keeps them out of site when possible. That's somehow good enough for you to disregard anything Trudeau does. A very poor way of thinking when heading to the polls

Methinks only the folks living in the riding of Papineau could vote for him leaving the rest of us to decide to vote for his cohorts or not N'esy Pas?

This the guy who takes a private flight to Costa Rica for a summer holiday. Like there is nowhere in Quebec or Ontario to take a summer holiday. Some environmentalist.

Methinks he is hard pressed to find a spot he can feel welcome in Canada these days N'esy Pas?

You can be certain he will be staying in a secure gated resort. I doubt he will be going for a street tour of Kingston. I wonder what the locals would think of his face painting incidents? Will he do a rendition of Day-O while there? Blood clot, bumba clot!

Good luck with that Christmas wish coming true

Did he not just go on vacation? While it is good he is checking, he really shouldn't need too. This is one of those litigious issues, you make anything appear legal if you have the tools and no one to challenge it. Is there not some sort of travel advisory in Jamaica? It would be better if this were business.
