Reject the Emergencies Act
February 20, 2022

Madam Speaker, there is indeed an emergency in this country. Indeed, there are a series of emergencies.
There is the emergency of the family whose 14-year-old daughter has attempted suicide after two years of isolation from sports, social interaction and other healthy activities that sustain a happy and heartful mind. There is the emergency of the federal public servant who, for unrecognized medical reasons, cannot get vaccinated and is now deprived of an income and a job. There is the emergency of the trucker who was hailed as a hero while driving our goods and services across international borders unvaccinated for over two years, who suddenly was declared a public health threat and deprived of his job as well. There is the emergency of the 32-year-old still living in his mom's basement, because under the pretext of COVID, the government printed so much money that it now costs $836,000 for the average house. There is the emergency of the single mother trembling as she walks down the grocery aisle because she cannot afford a basket of affordable goods, because the government has inflated her cost of living. There is the emergency created by the regulatory gatekeepers who keep people in poverty by blockading first nations people from the ability to develop their own resources and blockading immigrants from the ability to work in the very professions for which they are trained and qualified.
These are the emergencies we should be addressing, but instead, the Prime Minister has created a new emergency. What is his motivation? Of course, it is to divide and conquer. How did this all start? Let us remember that the Prime Minister suddenly imposed a brand new vaccine mandate on the very truckers who had been free to travel across borders without a vaccine, and he did it at a time when provinces and countries around the world were removing vaccine mandates. He did it to a group of people who are by far the least likely to transmit a virus because they work and sleep all by themselves 22 hours a day.
Media asked his health minister and his chief medical officer for evidence supporting the decision. Neither had any. In fact, the medical officer said it was time to return to normalcy, yet the Prime Minister, in spite of all these facts, brought in this new mandate to deprive people of their living, because he knew that it would spark in them a sense of desperation. If he could deprive them of their incomes, they would be so desperate that they would have to rise up and protest, and then he could further demonize them, call them names, attack their motives, belittle them and dehumanize them in order to galvanize the majority against the minority.
This must be the political opportunity his Deputy Prime Minister spoke about when she described what COVID represented to the government. The Liberals have attempted to amplify and take advantage of every pain, every fear and every tragedy that has struck throughout this pandemic in order to divide one person against another and replace the people's freedom with the government's power.
At the beginning of the pandemic, it started immediately. The government attempted to ram through a law that would have given it the power to raise any tax to any level for any reason without a vote in Parliament. It tried to pass Bill C-10 to strip away free speech online. Thankfully, Conservatives blocked it from doing so. The Prime Minister's authorities have said they want to track Canadian cell phones for the next five years. Now this, the Emergencies Act, is the latest and greatest example of attacks on our freedom.
Ostensibly, it was meant to stop blockades, which had already ended before he even brought forward this legislation. In Alberta, in Manitoba, and at the Ambassador Bridge, those blockades were ended peacefully, in some cases with protesters hugging the police officers and bringing the matters to a successful close so that goods and services could resume.
Instead, in that context, the Prime Minister brought in a law that not even Jean Chrétien brought in after 9/11 killed dozens of Canadians in a terrorist attack, that not even former prime minister Harper brought in when a terrorist murdered a Canadian soldier at the war monument and came running into Centre Block spraying bullets in all directions, and that not even the current Prime Minister brought in when blockades by first nations were standing in the way of those who were attempting to build the Coastal GasLink pipeline. For the first time in this law's three-decade history, the Prime Minister brings it in to address what he says was a protest in front of Parliament Hill.
Ironically, this power goes beyond any of the protests and/or blockades the Prime Minister claims to want to address. For example, it would allow governments and banks to seize people's bank accounts and money for donating to the wrong political cause. One journalist asked the justice minister if small sums donated, for example, to support an end to vaccine mandates could get someone's bank account frozen. The minister did not deny it. Instead, he said that people who make donations of that kind should be very worried.
To freeze people's bank accounts is not just an attack on their finances but on their personal security. If their bank accounts are frozen, they cannot buy food, they cannot buy fuel, they cannot pay their children's daycare fees and, under this law, they can face this personal attack without being charged with a single, solitary crime.
The Prime Minister says that this is time-limited, yet his own finance minister said she wants some of the tools to be permanent. He said it will be geographically targeted, yet his own parliamentary secretary for justice said that “the act technically applies to all of Canada”. The rules apply everywhere and indefinitely.
Finally, there is nothing in the act that limits the kinds of financial actions that could lead to people's accounts being frozen, and if they are frozen unjustifiably, the act specifically bans people from suing either the bank or the government for that unjustifiable treatment, opening the door for people who have nothing whatsoever to do with either the blockades or the protest having their bank accounts frozen without cause.
The Prime Minister says he wants to do this to remove the blockades, blockades that have already been removed. He says he needs these unprecedented powers in order to bring our country's order back to the pre-protest period, although across this country that has already occurred.
I say to the House that I oppose this unjustifiable power grab and, as prime minister of Canada, I will ensure that no such abuse of power ever happens again.
However, I say that we should end some of these blockades. Madame Speaker, we can remove all of the blockades. Let us remove the mandates and restrictions that are blocking people's livelihoods today. Let us end the blockades on freedom of speech that the government is trying to erect with its online censorship bill. Let us end the regulatory blockades so that builders can provide affordable homes, first nations can develop their economies and escape poverty, and newcomers can actually work in the professions for which they were trained. Let us remove the inflationary taxes, deficits, and money printing so that people's wages can again buy them homes, food and fuel, let us remove that blockade.
Let us get people back in control of their lives by making Canada the freest place on earth: free to speak, free to think, free to work, free to worship, free to own a home and build one's own destiny. Let us bind up the nation's wounds with compassion and respect and unite our country for freedom.

The Kevin J. Johnston Show with Brian Peckford

Kevin J. Johnston

Tonight on the Kevin J. Johnston Show

EARLY SHOW SPECIAL!!!!!! The Constitution , especially the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and how it is being violated. Brian Peckford explains why!
Derek pulls up a clip from the Convoy on the ground, where people are singing," We are the World" in a circle joining arms and hands. I guess that's such a big threat to Justin. Yeah it's so terrifying. All the cops need to stop all that fun and people coming together as one. We need more people on the ground to come here. This has come out such a dictatorship from the over power grab of JT. He's afraid of loosing his powers from his orders from Klaus Shaub. When we win, they fail and the NWO collapses.

It's been a lot of constitutional issues going on. The JCCF has been busier than ever. A lot of people are wondering what's going on. I thought we all had a pretty good Constitution. The government's not supposed to be tramping on all of our rights.
We're watching what's going on with the Ottawa and decided to invoke the Emergencies Act and it's not looking good for freedom in Canada.

Brian pecker says for 2 years all the governments of Canada have been trampling on people's Charter Rights and freedoms, which everybody's been arguing about since day one. The court systems are pretty slow. The various Court actions that have been taken that tried to defend the charter Rights and freedoms are still in the courts. The only courts that are to rule right now are the lower courts.

Alfred Brian Peckford PC (born August 27, 1942) is a Canadian politician who served as the third premier of Newfoundland from March 26, 1979 to March 22, 1989. A member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party, Peckford was first elected as the Member of the House of Assembly (MHA) for Green Bay following the 1972 general election. He served as a cabinet minister in Frank Moores' government before he was elected as PC leader in 1979 following Moores' retirement.

Background

Alfred Brian Peckford was born in Whitbourne, Newfoundland on August 27, 1942, and was raised in the communities of Whitbourne, Marystown, and Lewisporte. He earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and has completed postgraduate work in English Literature, Education, Psychology, and French Literature. Prior to entering politics, he was a high school teacher in rural Newfoundland.[1] He was the founding patron of the Wessex Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.[2]

Politics

Peckford was the Progressive Conservative (PC) candidate in the district of Green Bay in the 1972 provincial election. The PC Party won a majority government in the election and Peckford was narrowly elected in his district over the Liberal candidate.[3] In 1973 he was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to Premier Frank Moores and the following year he was sworn into cabinet as the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.[1][4] In the 1975 general election Peckford won 70 percent of the popular vote in his district, defeating the Liberal and New Democratic Party candidates. The PC Party won its second majority government under the leadership of Moores and Peckford remained the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.[5] The following year Moores shuffled his cabinet and Peckford was appointed Minister of Mines and Energy; and Rural and Northern Development.[6]

Mines and Energy Minister

Peckford was appointed Minister of Mines and Energy on September 9, 1976, replacing John Crosbie who was leaving provincial politics to run federally. The offshore oil industry was seen as a bright spot in the economic outlook for the province. As the minister responsible Peckford fought hard for provincial control over the emerging industry. Oil companies suspended offshore drilling in 1977 in protest, but after some compromises were made the oil companies eventually accepted the Newfoundland terms, which aimed to maximize local economic benefits and minimize social and environmental disruption. Oil companies would start drilling once again in 1978 under the province's term. One of the terms arranged was that oil companies would be responsible for paying the cost of training local people to work in the industry. The companies had the choice of spending the money themselves on training and researching or paying it into the provincial treasury. Peckford said he pushed for these terms with oil companies after seeing resource give aways in the mining sector as well as the Upper Churchill Falls hydroelectric deal.[7] While Peckford was able to negotiate an agreement with oil companies over drilling in the continental shelf, the province was engaged in ownership dispute with the federal Liberal government over offshore petroleum resources. However, this dispute was not settled until after Peckford became premier.[8]

Premier

On January 19, 1979, Moores announced he was stepping down as premier of the province and leaving politics.[9] Even before announcing his leadership bid Peckford was mentioned as a likely frontrunner to succeed Moores.[10] 10 people ran for the leadership of the party at its March 17, 1979, convention. Out of those 10, Peckford along with Leo Barry, Walter Carter and William Doody were seen as the candidates who had a serious shot at winning.[11][12] Peckford was still considered by some media as the frontrunner and had racked up the most cabinet and caucus support.[13] At the convention he led on the first two ballots and was elected leader over Carter and Doody on the third and final ballot.[14]

At 36 years of age Peckford became the youngest first minister in Newfoundland's history and one of the few members of the political elite from a working-class outport background.[15] Liberal leader Bill Rowe challenged Peckford to call an election immediately, however Peckford announced he would wait several months before calling one and would first bring down a budget, introduce new legislation, and overhaul the rules of procedure in the legislature.[14] On May 25, 1979, the legislature was dissolved with an election called for June 18. The election was called after Rowe had announced a Liberal leadership convention for July 6–7, due to party dissension over his leadership.[16] While Rowe had planned on contesting the leadership himself he stepped aside and the Liberals installed Liberal MP Don Jamieson as leader two days after the election was called.[17] Prior to Moores' resignation an opinion poll showed the Liberals leading the Progressive Conservatives, however no formal polls were conducted during the election campaign.[9][18] On election day Peckford led his party to its third straight majority government, they won 50 percent of the popular vote and 33 of the 52 seats in the House of Assembly. The Liberals won 41 percent of the vote and 19 seats, the NL NDP won 8 percent of the vote but no seats.[19][20]

Resource management dominated Peckford's ten years as Premier of Newfoundland, particularly offshore oil, the fisheries, and hydroelectric developments. In all three areas, Peckford hoped to wrestle control from outside interests to secure greater revenues for the province. He argued this would end Newfoundland's status as the poorest province in the country. His government tried to renegotiate the Upper Churchill contract with Hydro Quebec, which had been signed by Premier Joey Smallwood in 1969. The deal sold cheap power to Hydro Quebec for 65 years with no allowances for inflation or revision. The province launched two legal battles over the deal but the Supreme Court of Canada ruled twice in Quebec's favour, in 1984 and 1988. The Peckford government sought to develop power on the Lower Churchill River, but could not secure a transmission route through Quebec into lucrative American and Canadian markets.[15]

Although the fisheries remained vital to the economy of rural Newfoundland, they fell under federal jurisdiction. Ottawa determined fish quotas, distributed trawler licenses, and set all other aspects of fisheries policy. During the 1982 constitutional negotiations Peckford tried to acquire greater provincial control of the fisheries, but was unable to get enough support from other premiers. Peckford argued the province had a historic and moral right to the fisheries and the government did its best to influence federal fisheries policy. When the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans issued licenses to three factory freezer trawlers in 1985, Peckford declared it a "disaster of monumental proportions." Overfishing continued to be an issue, and decisions made by Peckford's own administration did not help matters. Just three years after he left office cod stocks collapsed and the federal government announced a cod moratorium, which is still in effect in 2012.[15]

After securing deals with oil companies regarding offshore exploration, he battled with Ottawa over ownership of the oil.[21] The Peckford administration had tried to negotiate an agreement with Pierre Trudeau's Liberal government over ownership, but were unsuccessful. With the two governments unable to come to an agreement the dispute was sent to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1982. The Peckford and Trudeau governments were that far apart on their views that Peckford hinted that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians might take a more radical stance, similar to the Quebec separatists, if the courts ruled against them.[22][23]

During his heated dispute with the federal government Peckford called an election for April 6, 1982, hoping to regain a mandate to continue his tough stance with Ottawa and renegotiate the Upper Churchill contract with Quebec. The Liberals, led by Len Stirling, disagreed with Peckford's aggressive stances and campaigned on a slogan of "Make Work Not War".[24] On election night Peckford led his party to victory again, winning 61 percent of the vote and 44 of the 52 seats in the House of Assembly. Only eight Liberals were elected and Stirling was defeated in his own riding of Bonavista North.[25][26][27] During his election victory speech Peckford stated that "I am more convinced than I have any time in the past that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians speak [with] one voice when we all say one day the sun will shine and have-not will be no more", words that went on to become a household phrase in the province.[28][29]

In March 1984 the Supreme Court ruled that the federal government owned the right to develop minerals on the continental shelf off Canada's coast.[30] Peckford shifted his efforts to gaining joint management and most of the revenues from offshore oil resources and embarked on a cross-Canada tour to drum up support for the province's position.[31][32] In the September 4, 1984, federal election Brian Mulroney's Progressive Conservative Party won a large majority government. Prior to the election Mulroney had agreed to a fair deal for the province with regards to offshore energy resources.[33] On February 11, 1985, less than six months since Mulroney's election victory, both levels of government signed the Atlantic Accord. The Accord granted Newfoundland significant decision-making powers and financial benefits. It made the federal and provincial governments equal partners in the management of offshore developments through the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board. The Accord was widely hailed as a success for the Peckford administration and a turning point for the provincial economy.[31]

Weeks after signing the Atlantic Accord, Peckford announced that an election would be held on April 2, 1985.[34] He self-proclaimed himself the "Great Negotiator" for the Atlantic Accord but during the election he was hounded by teachers and public service employees who were upset with the two year government-imposed wage freeze.[35] Fraser March, the president of the Newfoundland Public Employees Association, had pledged to campaign against "every Tory in the province".[36] A poll released just days before the vote showed the Progressive Conservatives and Liberals were tied at 41.5 percent outside St. John's, while Peckford's Tories led in the capital city.[37] However, the Progressive Conservatives won 49 per cent of the popular vote on election night, compared to 37 percent for the Liberals and 14 percent for the NDP.[38][39]

Although resource development dominated Peckford's time as premier his government is responsible for a number of things that have shaped Newfoundland and Labrador. After his party was re-elected in 1979 Peckford appointed Lynn Verge and Hazel Newhook to cabinet, they became the first women to serve as Cabinet ministers in the province. Peckford also brought in the first pay equity policy, established the first Status of Women Council, and in 1983 appointed Margaret Cameron as the province's first woman Supreme Court justice. In 1980 the new provincial flag, his government is responsible for the Department of Environment, they brought in grade 12 to the high school curriculum, and started construction on the Trans-Labrador Highway. In 1987 the Peckford government partnered with Phillip Sprung to construct a hydroponic greenhouse complex on the St. John's-Mount Pearl border. While the greenhouses were supposed to create jobs, tap into a profitable export market, and supply local consumers with fresh and affordable vegetables year-round, they ended up being an economic disaster. The government poured $22 million into the project and it went bankrupt only two years later. The credibility of Peckford and the Progressive Conservatives had been hurt by the project. On January 21, 1989, he announced he was leaving politics, Tom Rideout was chosen as his successor in March, and the PC Party was defeated in the provincial election the following month by the Liberals.[1][15][40]

Post-political life

Peckford became a business consultant and has sat on numerous boards since leaving politics including the board of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the 1990s. He relocated to British Columbia in the early 1990s and in 1998 was appointed to lead a one-person inquiry into the state of Fraser River salmon stocks and fishery management.

In 2008, he was appointed chair of a federal government–appointed expert panel to review federal chronic disease policy, especially diabetes, and to present a report to the federal Health minister. He is currently a director of Strongbow Exploration Inc., a public junior mining company. He has also been an advisor to the British Columbia Conservative Party, co-chairing the party's issues management committee.[41]

Peckford endorsed the People's Party led by Maxime Bernier in the 2021 Canadian federal election[42] and Peckford appeared on Jordan B. Peterson podcast Season 4 Episode 78, published January 26, 2022, where he claimed that the Canadian government infringed on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms during the COVID-19 pandemic.[43]

On January 27, 2022, it was revealed that Peckford is the lead plaintiff for the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms in a federal court case which is challenging the validity of the federal government’s ban on travel for people who are unvaccinated.[44][45][46][47][48][49]

Peckford and his wife currently live in Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island.

Tonight on the Kevin J. Johnston Show with Ed and Stefanos

Ed says their railroading Pat King in the courts. Stefanos says the
crown attempted of trying to bring in evidence from second and third
party hearsay and that's not allowed. Pat has really good lawyer who
has down a phenomenal job. Apparently so done was reading news
articles and they are trying to admit that as evidence. It didn't
happened thankfully. With all the arguments back and forth ends with
coming down with Pat's Asurety.
Because the person was in his background in the video and she only
knew him for 4 weeks. They couldn't trust her to exercise her duties
as his asurety.

Today after I listened to Ed of the PPC and the Libertian wannabe
lawyer Stephy Baby whine about their buddy Pat King I called Ed again.
He gave me 10 seconds to tell why I was calling this time but I only
needed 5. Later I called his buddy who went to law school in Moscow
Vladislav Sobolev. That conversation went well at first until he made
a snide remark about the war in his nativeland then I said look aother
email and hung up on the snob

WeAreAllEssential (WAAE) rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with
across Canada

Not only have we supported more small businesses than any other
coalition to open up fully and stay open, WAAE has been integral to
two of the foremost legal actions currently underway.

Adamson’s Barbecue, one of WAAE’s founding members is positioned to
challenge The Reopening Ontario Act like none other, thanks in part to
Founder Vladislav Sobolev, who connected Adam Skelly with Chris
Weisdorf, currently assisting Skelly’s legal team with game-changing
evidence and experts.

On the west coast, WeAreAllEssential has been actively supporting BC’s
proposed constitutional class action put forth by The Canadian Society
for the Advancement of Science in Public Policy. Sobolev was
responsible for making some integral connections in its early stages
and also played a key role in spearheading a cease and desist letter
presented to health authorities, law enforcement, and policymakers.
This letter has put critical pressure on all those that might
perpetuate these unjustified measures to stand down.

Tonight on the show, getting exciting about the convoy heading to
Ottawa. Alot of people are in favor of what's happening. A report a
call to Liberal party and ask them for their official statement if
they were going to reverse the mandates and they said of course not.
If we're going to release the mandates we would have done it already.
And we're not a bit concerned about a dozen couple trucks showing up
to Ottawa.
Also the police in Ottawa I have no idea how who's this actually huge
this thing is yet. They don't know how to plan for it they don't know
what to do with it.
We made it in the Guinness book it's the world's largest Convoy in
history! The states are also arriving in large numbers as well as much
as 10,000 or more. They're tired of the lies too.
This is not going to end soon, because it took them about 10 years to
put this all together Trudeaur does make money off of this, because he
gets money for every job that someone gets. That to me is a conflict
of interest to say the least.

Dr. Gurguis, unfortunately, could not make it on the show this evening.

Kevin is in good spirits is enjoying his house arrest and he's got a
new book coming out.

Tonight topic is about why alternative news is popular and essential.
Kevin has been released today from bail.
So we have some awesome guests today and the first guest has just
started a new media organization and it's called Maverick Media.
Keith. The alternative media is essential now and the traditional
Legacy Media is not giving you the full story we all know that all our
viewers know that I wish the whole world would know that and so here
we have these amazing alternative Medias popping up. One of the most
popular ones is rebel news and then there's true north and there's
Western standard. These alternative Medias is money. The Edmonton
there's no ads, because no business with any integrity wants to
support a newspaper that doesn't tell you the full truth. Businesses
have been pulling their ads like mad and now it's not even worth the
money to buy the Edmonton journal you're barely getting anything, so
why bother and they don't tell you.
