Its a nobrainer to those in the know to understand why the "Powers That Be" who oversee CBC block any comment I make about Trump

Although Trump is a huge buffoon at least he hates NAFTA too

Everybody and his dog knows I have been speaking publicly against NAFTA since 2004 Just like the LIEbranos I was also against it out of the gate and I never changed my mind like they did.

SUSSEX - GOLD FOUND AND BERNARD LORD'S OPINION!!!!

The Unconventional Candidate

David Amos Isn’t Campaigning For Your Vote, But….

By Gisele McKnight

FUNDY—He has a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket, a chain on his wallet, a beard at least a foot long, 60 motorcycles and a cell phone that rings to the tune of "Yankee Doodle."

Meet the latest addition to the Fundy ballot—David Amos.

The independent candidate lives in Milton, Massachusetts with his wife and two children, but his place of residence does not stop him from running for office in Canada.

One has only to be at least 18, a Canadian citizen and not be in jail to meet Elections Canada requirements.

When it came time to launch his political crusade, Amos chose his favourite place to do so—Fundy.

Amos, 52, is running for political office because of his dissatisfaction with politicians.

"I’ve become aware of much corruption involving our two countries," he said. "The only way to fix corruption is in the political forum."

The journey that eventually led Amos to politics began in Sussex in 1987. He woke up one morning disillusioned with life and decided he needed to change his life.

"I lost my faith in mankind," he said. "People go through that sometimes in midlife."

So Amos, who’d lived in Sussex since 1973, closed his Four Corners motorcycle shop, paid his bills and hit the road with Annie, his 1952 Panhead motorcycle.

"Annie and I rode around for awhile (three years, to be exact) experiencing the milk of human kindness," he said. "This is how you renew your faith in mankind – you help anyone you can, you never ask for anything, but you take what they offer."

For those three years, they offered food, a place to sleep, odd jobs and conversation all over North America.

Since he and Annie stopped wandering, he has married, fathered a son and a daughter and become a house-husband – Mr. Mom, as he calls himself.

He also describes himself in far more colourful terms—a motorcyclist rather than a biker, a "fun-loving, free-thinking, pig-headed individual," a "pissed-off Maritimer" rather than an activist, a proud Canadian and a "wild colonial boy."

Ironically, the man who is running for office has never voted in his life.

"But I have no right to criticize unless I offer my name," he said. "It’s alright to bitch in the kitchen, but can you walk the walk?"

Amos has no intention of actively campaigning.

"I didn’t appreciate it when they (politicians) pounded on my door interrupting my dinner," he said. "If people are interested, they can call me. I’m not going to drive my opinions down their throats."

And he has no campaign budget, nor does he want one.

"I won’t take any donations," he said. "Just try to give me some. It’s not about money. It goes against what I’m fighting about."

What he’s fighting for is the discussion of issues – tainted blood, the exploitation of the Maritimes’ gas and oil reserves and NAFTA, to name a few.

"The political issues in the Maritimes involve the three Fs – fishing, farming and forestry, but they forget foreign issues," he said. "I’m death on NAFTA, the back room deals and free trade. I say chuck it (NAFTA) out the window.

NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement which allows an easier flow of goods between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Amos disagrees with the idea that a vote for him is a wasted vote.

"There are no wasted votes," he said. "I want people like me, especially young people, to pay attention and exercise their right. Don’t necessarily vote for me, but vote."

Although…if you’re going to vote anyway, Amos would be happy to have your X by his name.

"I want people to go into that voting booth, see my name, laugh and say, ‘what the hell.’"

Whether you like Trudeau or not, he has done an admirable job on the Trump file.

“NO he didn’t “

We go it.... because you say so.... Not based on anything concrete, just because you say so.

Trudeau’s government has been negotiating for months on NAFTA, I would hardly call it doing nothing. The “decision” Trump made was because Trudeau didn’t cower or blink and Trump did.

Trump says he made up facts about trade deficit in meeting with Trudeau

'I didn't even know': Trump insisted to Trudeau that U.S. runs a trade deficit with Canada

The Canadian Press Posted: Mar 15, 2018 1:36 AM ET
U.S. President Donald Trump, shown with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House last year, told a fundraiser that after Trudeau told him the U.S. does not have a trade deficit with Canada, he replied, "Wrong, Justin, you do." (Sean Kilpatrick/Canadian Press)

U.S. President Donald Trump boasted in a fundraising speech in Missouri on Wednesday that he made up facts about trade in a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, according to a recording of the comments obtained by The Washington Post.

The newspaper said in a report posted on its website that Trump had insisted to Trudeau that the United States runs a trade deficit with its neighbour to the north without knowing whether or not that was the case.

Trump said on the recording that after Trudeau told him the U.S. does not have a trade deficit with Canada, he replied, "Wrong, Justin, you do," then added, "I didn't even know.... I had no idea."
The president said he then "sent one of our guys out" to check the prime minister's claim.

"Well, sir, you're actually right," Trump says in the recording. "We have no deficit but that doesn't include energy and timber — and when you do, we lose $17 billion a year. It's incredible."

U.S. runs trade surplus with Canada, U.S. says

Trump regularly bemoans a trade deficit with Canada and complained about it in late February by saying: "We lose a lot with Canada. People don't know it. Canada's very smooth. They have you believe that it's wonderful. And it is, for them. Not wonderful for us."

But a different story is told in the recently released 2018 White House "Economic Report of the President" — an annual document prepared by Trump's own team which bears his signature and contradicts a number of trade statements and policies already articulated by him.

One example involves the supposed trade deficit with Canada. Trump keeps insisting it exists, but the document he signed states Canada is among the few countries in the world with whom the U.S. runs a surplus.

The document states: "The United States ran a trade surplus of $2.6 billion with Canada on a balance-of-payments basis."

Canadian officials are once again disputing U.S. President Donald Trump's claim that his country runs a trade deficit with its neighbour to the north.

Trump boasted in a fundraising speech in Missouri on Wednesday that he made up figures regarding the supposed trade deficit in a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, according to a recording of the comments obtained by the Washington Post.

Trump says on the recording that after Trudeau told him the U.S. does not have a trade deficit with Canada, he replied, "Wrong, Justin, you do" — then adds, "I didn't even know ... I had no idea."

The president said he then sent a staff member to double-check the claim.

"Well, sir, you're actually right," Trump says in the recording. "We have no deficit but that doesn't include energy and timber and when you do, we lose $17 billion a year. It's incredible."

Trump doubled down on the trade deficit claim on Twitter Thursday morning.

"We do have a trade deficit with Canada, as we do with almost all countries," he said. "They do. They almost all do and that's how I know!"

A spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland disputed Trump's trade tally.

"Canada and the United States have a balanced and mutually beneficial trading relationship. According to their own statistics, the U.S. runs a trade surplus with Canada," spokesperson Adam Austen said.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative confirms that "the U.S. goods and services trade surplus with Canada was $12.5 billion in 2016," Austen said.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau, chair of the cabinet committee on Canada-U.S. relations, offered a similar line of defence on Thursday.

"At this point it's very important to point out that there is over $2 billion a day of trade between our two countries and overall annually the United States has a small surplus with Canada," he told reporters in Montreal.

"So we can talk about balanced trade between the two countries, huge amounts of trade, and this is something we want to continue to improve as we negotiate the NAFTA agreement."

Canadian government sources previously have explained away Washington's account of the Canada-U.S. trading relationship as basically counting goods twice.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has been including goods that pass through Canada but don't originate here as Canadian exports in his export calculations, artificially inflating the U.S.'s trade deficit in goods with Canada, sources told CBC back in February.

For example, a Chinese washing machine that passes through the port of Vancouver on its way to the U.S. is being counted as part of both the U.S. trade deficit with China and the U.S. goods deficit with Canada.
