Tory candidate turfed over social media posts to continue campaign
Jad Crnogorac says she'll sit as an Independent MLA if she wins in
Dartmouth South
By Michael Gorman, CBC News Posted: May 18, 2017 4:56 PM AT

Jad Crnogorac isn't going away.

The former Progressive Conservative candidate in Dartmouth South said
Thursday she would continue her campaign despite the party dropping
her earlier this week for past social media activity.

Crnogorac, who has said the party has a double standard in how it
treats its candidates who are women, will still appear on the ballot
as a Tory candidate because changes cannot be made after May 10.

If she wins, Crnogorac said she would sit as an Independent in the legislature.

"We're just planning what we're going to do for strategy," she said.
"We don't have much time."

Crnogorac said the issues she's chiefly concerned with include mental
health support, improvements for classrooms and teachers, and support
for entrepreneurs.

Other candidates on the ballot in Dartmouth South include Vishal
Bhardwaj (Liberal), Claudia Chender (NDP), Jim Murray (Atlantica
Party) and June Trenholm (Green).
Social media controversies

Crnogorac is the third candidate in this election to either bow out of
the race or be dismissed over social media posts they have made.

Dartmouth East NDP candidate Bill McEwen stepped down Monday after a
CTV Atlantic report about sexist content on a website McEwen hosted
and his use of derogatory language to describe people who are gay.

Pictou East Liberal candidate Matthew MacKnight was dropped by the
party 10 days ago over what the campaign chair called "inappropriate
social media commentary.

Police, Public Prosecution Service Review to be Delayed

We meet with Murray Segal and understand why the review needs to be
delayed. It is for the best and I agree.

MEDIA RELEASE

Independent reviewer Murray Segal is recommending that he delay his
review of the police and Public Prosecution Service response in the
Rehtaeh Parsons case.

Mr. Segal met with the Parsons family this week. He concluded that he
can complete a more thorough review once the court proceedings against
two young men charged in the case are complete.

Justice Minister Lena Diab has accepted Mr. Segal’s recommendation to
delay the review. She says that while she is eager to receive the
review, she wants it to be as far-reaching and inclusive as possible,
with meaningful recommendations for change.

The court case is ongoing against two men who face child pornography
charges. Mr. Segal will resume his review immediately once the case
concludes.

a 16-member cabinet.

Stephen McNeil was sworn in as the province’s 28th premier Tuesday in

McNeil will be joined in cabinet by nine veteran members of his caucus

Former party leadership candidate Diana Whalen was sworn in as deputy
premier and finance minister, while Andrew Younger is the new energy

female attorney general and justice minister.

The Liberals won 33 of the 51 seats in the legislature after the Oct.
8 election.

'Bizarre' end as Andrew Younger withdraws from Dartmouth East race

Former Liberal cabinet minister cites health and privacy reasons

By Michael Gorman, Jean Laroche, CBC News Posted: May 03, 2017 3:54 PM AT

Andrew Younger has withdrawn from the provincial election.
Andrew Younger has withdrawn from the provincial election. (CBC)
Independent candidate Andrew Younger has withdrawn from the provincial election race in Dartmouth East.
In an interview with CBC News, Younger — a former Liberal cabinet minister — cited health and privacy reasons for the decision.

He said he made the choice in consultation with his wife after the news website AllNovaScotia.com posted a story Tuesday night that released "private family information and health information."

"While the story isn't exactly accurate in how it reflects the situation, my family and I have decided that we just don't want to be the targets of smear campaigns over the next 30 days."

Andrew Younger, wife Katia
Andrew Younger said he accepts what comes with being a public figure, but he wasn't willing for it to spread over to his family, including wife Katia, anymore. (CBC)

The story reported on an emergency protection order Younger's wife, Katia, sought against him. But Younger said that isn't what his wife intended to apply for and it was an error on the part of a justice of the peace that caused the confusion.

"What she was seeking was to deal with some custody issues while we were living apart and while this medical issue was dealt with."

Younger didn't elaborate on the medical issue.

Time in office

Younger was a prominent member of Stephen McNeil's cabinet after the Liberals won the 2013 election.
He carried the energy portfolio and oversaw issues such as a review on hydraulic fracturing in the province and certain terms related to the Maritime Link deal.

He would hold the portfolio until taking a leave of absence in 2014. It was later learned the leave was connected to Younger being the victim of an alleged assault at the hands of a former party staffer with whom Younger admitted to having an inappropriate relationship.

Younger would eventually return to work, and to cabinet, as environment minister.

Previous controversy

Younger found prominence in a particularly unwanted way in late 2015 when he was kicked out of cabinet due to decisions he made related to the assault trial.

He used his parliamentary privilege to avoid testifying, which resulted in the case being thrown out. The judge in the trial admonished him for the decision.

He was then fired due to discrepancies in what he told McNeil regarding his choice to invoke privilege. He sat as an Independent MLA for the duration of the sitting.

Controversy would continue when recordings Younger secretly made of conversations with McNeil's former chief of staff, Kirby McVicar, came to light. McVicar would later step down after he revealed personal health information about Younger during interviews with reporters.

Thanks family

Younger said he doesn't know what will be next for him, but it became clear he had to make his wife and son his top priority and that meant pulling out of the race.

"I haven't thought about it because obviously I was focused on the campaign. We felt pretty confident that we were going to win."

Offers of donations and volunteering, and requests for signs were "flooding" his office, he said.

But Younger said while he accepts that being a public figure means he's subject to certain things, it's not fair for those to spread to his wife and family.

"I know I haven't always been the best husband in the world, but I love my wife and I love my son very much and I have no shame in making this decision because it's about putting them first.

A bizarre end

The former municipal councillor described his political career as "varied," but said it's probably better to leave it to others to judge. He's proud of helping expand Shubie Park, clamp down on provincial government advertising and improving offshore liability.

Younger acknowledged there have been "a few bizarre things" in his political career.

"I guess maybe it's fitting that it goes out in a bizarre way."

I tried to explain to you on the phone just now but you didn't want to
hear it but whereas I was not near the Internet for a period of ten
days I could not email anyone even if I wished to correct?

However I must inform you that before I dropped out of sight for a
while then appeared in Federal Court on the December the 14th I did
post my opinions of the election of the latest Speaker of the the
House within the CBC domain both BEFORE and after Geof Regan won the
position of speaking on behalf of the Queen. Clearly Canada's latest
Speaker ignored me for nearly 12 years until I mentioned him in
Federal Court on Jan11th, of this. Then he wasn't long sending me the
letter hereto attached the very next day EH?

Some of my statements still about Regan's election exist within the
CBC webpage today and clearly I pointed to my appearance on Rogers TV.
Please notice CBC deleted my first comment but when someone atacked a
comment that no longer was in the PUBLC view CBC allowed my next
comments to remain for over one month and counting.

Do past online gaffes disqualify someone from running for office?

All 3 major party leaders in N.S. say the candidate vetting process sometimes misses things

By Michael Gorman, CBC News Posted: May 17, 2017 6:00 AM AT

Jad Crnogorac (PC), Matt MacKnight (Liberal) and Bill McEwan (NDP) are all out of this provincial election after questionable social media posts they made in the past were brought to light.

Should questionable social media posts automatically spell disaster if someone wants to run for office?
Stephen McNeil doesn't think so.

The Nova Scotia Liberal leader knows a thing or two about the issue as the province nears a May 30 vote. His party dropped Pictou East candidate Matt MacKnight during this provincial election campaign when offensive tweets MacKnight wrote several years ago were brought to light. McNeil said part of the problem is when campaigns and parties find out about past posts from someone other than the candidate.

Stephen McNeil
Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil says candidates can overcome past online transgressions, but they need to be up front about them. (CBC)

If someone is to overcome past transgressions, he said, parties need to hear about it from the candidates themselves and not reporters or other sources.

"I don't think anyone believes someone should be punished for their entire life for something that they've done in the past," he said.

"But I do think the important part is it's an issue of making sure that if there is something, that you've actually communicated it to the party."

Tories, NDP affected, too

The Liberals aren't the only party in this election — or others, for that matter — to be affected by controversial social media posts.

On Monday the NDP's candidate in Dartmouth East, Bill McEwan, resigned from that race when a blog he used to write was brought to light. On Tuesday it was the Tories' turn: they dropped Dartmouth South candidate Jad Crnogorac for tweets they deemed to be over the line.

McEwan and Crnogorac's names will remain on the ballot, however, because the nomination period has already closed.

The 2015 federal election also saw all major parties losing candidates over past social media posts. Ala Buzreba, a 21-year-old Liberal candidate, stepped down from running in the Calgary Nose Hill riding after apologizing for offensive tweets she posted as a teenager.

Several Tory candidates running in Quebec were criticized for controversial comments they posted online, and a federal NDP candidate in Nova Scotia, Morgan Wheeldon, was forced to resign after suggesting in a 2014 Facebook post that Israel was engaged in "ethnic cleansing."

Public is public

Mike Smit, a computer scientist at Dalhousie University, said it's not difficult to find information people have posted online, even if they've tried to hide or delete it. It becomes even easier, he said, if social media accounts aren't protected.

"If you've put it out there to be public, it's public," he said.

Jamie Baillie
Tory Leader Jamie Baillie says all parties are doing their best to vet candidates, but sometimes things are missed. (CBC)

All three major party leaders said on Tuesday that their candidates and potential candidates are subject to a vetting process, which includes examining social media use and accounts.

Although Tory Leader Jamie Baillie said parties expect candidates to be honest and up front about anything that could become an issue, he acknowledged it can be difficult to keep track of it all.

Still, in the case of Crnogorac, her offending tweets weren't difficult to find and not that old. Baillie conceded the party didn't do a good enough job in that case.

"We're doing our best to vet them and obviously we missed some pretty offensive posts that crossed an important line with me and we'll be looking at how we can do a better job of that vetting in the future."

Gary Burrill
NDP Leader Gary Burrill says finding the balance between what is a foolish mistake and what disqualifies someone from being a candidate can be a fine balance. (CBC)

NDP Leader Gary Burrill, who called McEwan's comments "entirely unacceptable," said even with the best efforts the vetting process can miss things.

Determining what is a foolish comment or a mistake from the past and what is something that disqualifies someone from running is a fine balance that requires "a lot of care and wisdom," he said.

As would-be politicians fall like dominos due to past social media posts, a Cape Breton University political scientist believes a process will evolve where potential candidates pre-emptively disclose past activity in an effort to minimize damage.

"We will see more examples, I predict, of candidates … before the heat of the campaign coming clean and saying, 'As I mine my past, as I look at some of the comments I made unreflectively, there are incidents and comments for which I now apologize and I want to assure the public that these do not reflect who I am,'" said Tom Urbaniak.

"I think we will see more pre-emptive confessions, if you will, going forward."

Being defined by the past

In the absence of disclosing potentially problematic posts ahead of time, Urbaniak said candidates risk having those posts define them if they do come to light.

It's a particular issue for candidates without a strong previous public profile, he said, such as the three in this election, and a reason why someone such as Matt Whitman is able to recover publicly and remain in the race — he had a past record of public service to point to and it wasn't the first time the public at large was hearing about him.

Regardless, Urbaniak said the message from this election and others to anyone thinking about running is simple and not surprising.

"Be reflective, think before you press send, think about what your values are and make sure that what you're putting out there is consistent with what your values are."

Tory candidate turfed over social media posts to continue campaign

Jad Crnogorac says she'll sit as an Independent MLA if she wins in Dartmouth South

Jad Crnogorac isn't going away.

The former Progressive Conservative candidate in Dartmouth South said Thursday she would continue her campaign despite the party dropping her earlier this week for past social media activity.

Crnogorac, who has said the party has a double standard in how it treats its candidates who are women, will still appear on the ballot as a Tory candidate because changes cannot be made after May 10.

If she wins, Crnogorac said she would sit as an Independent in the legislature.

"We're just planning what we're going to do for strategy," she said. "We don't have much time."

Crnogorac said the issues she's chiefly concerned with include mental health support, improvements for classrooms and teachers, and support for entrepreneurs.

Other candidates on the ballot in Dartmouth South include Vishal Bhardwaj (Liberal), Claudia Chender (NDP), Jim Murray (Atlantica Party) and June Trenholm (Green).

Social media controversies

Crnogorac is the third candidate in this election to either bow out of the race or be dismissed over social media posts they have made.

Dartmouth East NDP candidate Bill McEwen stepped down Monday after a CTV Atlantic report about sexist content on a website McEwen hosted and his use of derogatory language to describe people who are gay.

Pictou East Liberal candidate Matthew MacKnight was dropped by the party 10 days ago over what the campaign chair called "inappropriate social media commentary."

NDP Dartmouth East candidate drops out of race over offensive comments

'I regret my behaviour and I want to take full responsibility for my actions,' says Bill McEwen

An New Democrat candidate in Dartmouth, N.S., has stepped down after a media report about inappropriate statements he made online in the past.

Dartmouth East candidate Bill McEwen issued a statement Monday saying he regrets his behaviour and wants to take responsibility for his actions.

The statement followed a CTV Atlantic report about sexist content on a website McEwen hosted and his use of derogatory language to describe people who are gay.

"I apologize for my past actions and believe that I must be accountable to my community and the residents of Dartmouth East for inappropriate statements I made and supported in the past," he said in the statement.

"Sexism, misogyny, and homophobia are pervasive within our culture. We must work hard to combat these, and other forms of oppression within our communities, and within ourselves."

Online history haunting

McEwen becomes the second candidate to step aside after past social media comments came to light.

The Liberals dropped Pictou East candidate Matt MacKnight a week ago over similar inappropriate social media commentary.

McEwen did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CBC News.

McEwen's name will remain on the ballot even after he withdraws as a candidate because nominations have closed, Elections Nova Scotia said Tuesday. It is too late for the New Democrats to run a replacement candidate in the district because the nomination deadline passed last week.

Dartmouth East is a highly sought-after riding because Independent MLA Andrew Younger is not reoffering this election.

Liberals drop Pictou East candidate over 'inappropriate social media commentary'

Matthew MacKnight deactivated his campaign Facebook page Monday night

The Nova Scotia Liberal Party dropped its Pictou East candidate Matthew MacKnight on Monday over what the campaign chair called "inappropriate social media commentary."

"The comments made previously by Mr. MacKnight are not in any way acceptable and run contrary to the values of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party, our Leader Stephen McNeil and indeed all Nova Scotians," wrote Nova Scotia Liberal Party campaign chair Chris MacInnes, in an emailed statement.

After a "thorough review" of MacKnight's comments, MacInnes wrote "it's clear he can no longer stand as a candidate for the Liberal campaign."

#Downsydrome controversy

A spokesperson for the party told CBC News Monday night the Liberals would not be commenting on what exactly MacKnight is supposed to have said on social media.

The party also wouldn't comment on if it would find a replacement candidate for Pictou East

Global News referenced a 2013 tweet in which MacKnight appeared to be complaining about customers at the tech shop The Source calling about store hours for another shop.

The tweet ended with #downsydrome, a derisive reference to people with Down syndrome.

MacKnight Tweet

The 2013 tweet was still on his campaign Twitter account Monday evening. A few hours later, MacKnight made his Twitter account private. MacKnight also deleted his Facebook campaign page.

CBC News attempted to contact MacKnight on Twitter Monday night but did not get an immediate response.

Mr David Amos

Thank you for contacting me.

1) Are you currently a resident and eligible voter in the Cumberland
South electoral district?

2) If you are in Cumberland South and would like to address issues that
concern the scope of the Provincial authority, please provide a short
point form outline of your questions on my own or the Atlantica's Party
policies.

I feel a frustration in your previous communications, however, dealing
with the wrong person will not help you get the issues resolved. If it
is something I can address personally, I will.

Thank you for your understanding

Dear Mr. Amos:

Thank you for your email dated March 18, 2017 to the Honourable Lena
Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration for the Province of Nova Scotia,
regarding David and Kathryn Wright. As I am Director of Programs for
the Office of Immigration, Minister Diab has requested that I respond
to your email.

I have been following this story in the news as well and am sorry to
hear about the difficulties of Mr. & Mrs. Wright in moving to Nova
Scotia.

In Canada, immigration is a shared responsibility between the
provinces and the Canadian government via Immigration, Refugees and
Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Provinces can nominate individuals for
permanent residency through provincial nominee programs; however, IRCC
has the final authority with respect to all admissions to the country.

I note that you have already contacted the federal Minister of
Immigration, the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, with your concerns. You may
also wish to contact your Member of Parliament as these decisions are
solely a federal responsibility.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to me and for
sharing your views on such an important issue.

Yours truly,

Mr Jensen.

I believe my filing was clear in stating my wishes. Obviously my list
far less numerous than that of the CROWN'S.

I see no need to explain myself to you at this time other than to
explain that if the CROWN is successfaul in its malicious attempt to
dismiss and very legitmate complaint I will attempt to bring the
matter before the Supreme Court of Cnanda and I will need to argue the
Consitution etc.

Pursuant to the hearing on April 3rd. I ask again have you been in
touch with the RCMP or the FBI about the true copy of a Yankee wiretap
tape that has been in the docket of Federal Court since 2015 and
discussed by me with three judges of that court thus far?

Dear Mr. Specter:

I have been asked to forward the enclosed tapes to you from a man
named, David Amos, a Canadian citizen, in connection with the matters
raised in the attached letter. Mr. Amos has represented to me that
these are illegal FBI wire tap tapes. I believe Mr. Amos has been in contact
with you about this previously.

Very truly yours,

I did try hard to talk to you last fall. Ask David Rodenhiser. That
said I think you Emera dudes are crazy not to at least try to settle
with me before I decided to raise the stakes in your wicked game.
Please don't think me dumb I saw you checking me out whilst we talked
and I could tell that you believed every word I said.

FYI the reason I was so pissed off was a few days earlier a host of
very corrupt cops in seven cars pounced my son and I at 2:30 in the
morning right after the David Alward and the PCs won their big
mandate. As you can see I have reloaded some of my old videos that
were maliciously deleted just as the writ was dropped. Surf through
and you will see your face Mr Spurr You seemed like an ok guy on the
phone but so did the former Attorney General Mikey Murphy before he
and his pals sent all the corrupt cops to attack me. If nothing you
should deny that we talked on the 6th and that quite some time before
I opted to upload a video about you Ermera dudes again and reintroduce
myself to big talking activists in BC.

Mr. Amos,

I confirm that I have received your documentation.

There is no need to send us a hard copy. As you have said yourself,
the documentation is very voluminous and after 3 days, we are still in
the process of printing it.

I have asked one of my lawyers to review it in my absence and report
back to me upon my return in the office. We will then provide you with
a reply.

Subject: I am curious

Madam

I did not receive a response from you to the last email so I am not
certain if you received it. I must inform you that I will be closing
my briefcase in Yahoo for public view at the end of the week. I have a
great deal of material to add and I only wish certain parties to view
it. I opened it for you the other day as an act of good faith. Mr.
Pozen can check my work in the dockets of the various courts around
Boston they are a matter of Public Record my files are not. As you can
see by this and some following emails. I am very busy dealing with
criminal matters first before filing civil complaints in the USA. As I
told you when you called a lot has been happening. I have made a lot
of cops mad at me and I don't trust them a bit particularly after the
Police Commission is willing to check their work so i have been busy
watching my back and covering my butt. However that does not mean that
I have not thought about our conversation and was curious about a few
things.

I was glad to receive your call and impressed by the fact that you
were more than willing to receive the material and a copy of the
wiretap tape in particular. Your stated willingness to uphold the law
was a rare statement to me. However I was curious why you only
mentioned my voicemail to Mr. Pozen and not the email to your company
and the news program that it owns. Did they not inform you as well? If
they didn't I am not surprised because I have some other rather
interesting denials from the Media. the most interesting would have to
be from the PBS program called Frontline when I introduced its
producer Michael Sullivan to the US Attorney Michael J. Sullivan. Now
that is a story well worth W5 telling. Too bad they showed me their
ass. As a courtesy to you and a further act of good faith, I will not
forward this email to anyone else until after I return to the USA and
nothing has been resolved between BCE and I and I am compelled to name
it in my complaint. I would find it very hard to believe that Mr,
Pozen does not know everything he needs to know about me right now.

I had also called a lawyer, Steven Skurka who had a week long little
special on CTV . I had tried to inform him that I knew my rights his
assistant hollered at me. You from speaking to me yourself that I am
not a rude character. I found it too funny to be treated that way and
I had resolved to serve him this stuff byway of the local ATV Station
that had presented his smiling talking head to me. That is why I was
telling you that you could get this stuff from the local ATV station.
I found it quite strange that you did not rely on them to send it on
to you. Thus I must make an extra copy to comply with your request.

I know the date stamp on the forwarded email is incorrect but that is
because my old laptop goes to the first year in it when I boot up and
sometimes I am too busy or tired to bother changing it. However MSN
tracks it with the true date. Brad Smith and I have a bone to pick as
well and I have been checking his work rather closely since he ignored
my letter to him last year. His boss Bill Gates is gonna be very angry
and Brad Smith and Steve Balmer in the near future if I have anything
to do with it. If you do act ethically and immediately I will settle
with your company very cheaply in comparsion to the bottom lines of my
first two complaints. In fact I will be so impressed I will
immediatlely offer you a better job than the one you have now. Please
study the material I will provide you closely and ask me any thing you
wish.

I will do as I promised and send the material you requested as soon as
I can put it all together. Right now I am on the move and far away
from my printer. Is the following your correct address? Perhaps you
should consider sending someone to the my meeting with the Police
Commission in Fredericton next week in order to hear me speak of these
matters to law enforcement before I return to the USA. Once I do
return there I will serve the Mr. Pozen the material as promised and
call him to testify in my pending trial. The following emails should
explain some of my concerns to you. My wife will be in Canada next
week as well to pick up our kids. I will allow you to speak to her if
you wish. She has had a nervous breakdown over the legal crap and I do
have her Durable Power of Attorney pursuant to M.G.L. 201 B. Mr. Pozen
can ask Robert S. Creedon Jr. about that document. I argued it with
him before the entire Judicuary Commitee on Sept. 18th 2003.

I will call you in a minute to make certain that you get this and the
following emails.

For the Record I gave the Irving "Rag called the Gleaner" in Fat Fred
City and the CBC dudes in Toronto copies of the following lawsuits in
the USA in 2002 long before I gave some material to Bellglobemedia
byway of their W-Five yo yos. Clearly nobody knows how to read if they
don't think I ain't sued folks before EH?

Ask W-Five or their lawyers if I am a liar or not. Better yet ask
Stevey Boy Murphy or Andy Campbell in Fat Fred City if they dare to
chaleenge the truth. If all else fails and you bloggers seek counsel
you can trust why not ask Chucky Leblanc or your "Blogger General"
T.J. Burke he received the same documents on June 24th, 2004 the day
Danny boy Busierres and the Fat Fred City Finest attempted to banish
me from the LEG but it ain't worked out to well for them yet EH Chucky
Leblanc? However chucky was quick to report that I was banished the
following day and ain't said apeep about it since. Who to you think
told him not to talk about it? Kelly lamrock, T.J. Burke. the Irvings
or all three?

FYI W-Five took an interest in my matters at about the same time
Chretien's underling was calling Bush a moron.(I oftern call myself an
oxymoron Methinks somebody has been studing my words EH?) I supported
Chretein's underling's thinking in two affidavits demanding judgements
by default filed in the following dockets on December 12th, 2002.

The following day Cardinal Law (Methinks that is why chucky hates me
so) quit Beantown and ran off to the Holy See. Years later he helped
pick the latest Pope(a former Hitler Youth who is making his bones
with the croooked little Georgey Boy Bush Jr. right now in the USA.)

Never Forget the Queen is the protector of the Faith of the Church of
England . She would not allow her family's assests to be stolen and
given to the catholic Church. Why should I act any different?

Subject: possble story

I am a Canadian Citizen who thus far, as a plaintiff, has two Lawsuits
in the US District Court of Massachucetts they are numbered 02-11686-
RGS and 02-11687-RGS.

They were removed to that Court from the Norfolk Superior Court by the
US Attorney Michael J. Sullivan very improperly. However they shall
remain there because of my status as a Canandian Citizen. Judge Sterns
has not even held a Conference about the matters because he likely
does not want to hear the matter because I have presented all Members
of the Bar with their worst fear of a catch 22 problem.

Accordinging to law he is late. I have complained of 47 defendants 34
of whom are State Defendants( the Attorney General, The Commission of
Judicial Conduct Board of Bar Overseers etc) and 3 are Federal
Treasury Agents. Some of the defendants are over two months late in
their answer to the Summons.

The smallest suit amounts to 188 million dollars in the form of
relief. There is a lot to these matters and too much to briefly
explain. But in a nutshell my wife's Aunt, who is buried beside Rose
Kennedy, left my wife some money. It was stolen by her relatives in
executing the estate. No news there. But the crooks are very well
connected politically and every part of the old crony network in
Boston covered for them.

The crook and our cousin, Charles J. Kickham Jr of the Kickham Law
Office on Beacon St, has been past President of Bar Associations. He
has sat on the Board of Governors of Harvard Law School etc. I have
given much information to many members of the press who have simply
ignored some interesting facts.

What should be somewhat newsworthy is how far a wild colonial boy has
come in prosecuting Pro Se the most profund Yankee carpetbaggers. My
next two lawsuits Under title 18 are wickedly righteous. I have left
one copy of much information in Saint John New Brunswick at a lawyer's
Office, Mosher and Chedore 33 Charlotte St if some one wishes to view
them. I can be reached at this Cell number 506 434- 1379

I believe that only propaganda exists these days. The other two terms
are merely myths that bullshitters use to jusify greedy wordsmiths who
try to wax poetic for whomever will pay them the most. If all else
fails the corporations hire the cheapest help they can get for local
events and just cut and paste and print and pay some other dude for
the fancy words to help sell their newsrag. Original thought and common
sense evaporated with veritical intigration or whatever the evil
corporate bastards wish to call these days.

Perhaps some clever Indian in BC will ask me why I ran against Andy
Scott when he was the Minister of Indian Affairs EH John Duncan? I see
folks in your neck of the woods checking my work alot lately. No doubt
some of it is because of the upcoming election and the doings between
me and the Wally Opal and the RCMP back in 2005. However there is the
doings between the NEB and I in 2006 but that bullshit only involves
mere matters of money and the environment. YOU cannot deny that the
Minister of Indian Affairs has had Hard Copy of my concerns since 2004
and THAT involves the Captial Crime known and MURDER. YOUR head office
is in Amherst Nova Scotia which well within MY stomping gounds. Thus
that is where I will serve you the summons in order to bring the RCMP
and your lawyers to Federal Court CORRECT Minister Duncan? Perhaps you
should call the RCMP in Amherst Nova Scotia and ask them about the
documents and CD I served on them with a witness who has my Durable
Power of Attorney in August of 2012 in order to bring everything up to
date.

FYI its mostly the same materail that Wally Opal and the lawyer
Shirley Heafey as the Commissioer of Public Complaints Against the
RCMP received byway of registered US Mail (signature required) in 2005

Cullen to question Enbridge, government at JRP in February
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DECEMBER 12, 2012

Prince Rupert – MP Nathan Cullen will next appear before the National
Energy Board's Enbridge Joint Review Panel (JRP) in February.

Cullen will question witnesses from Enbridge on emergency preparedness
and response mechanisms that would be established to deal with oil
spills.

Later in the spring, Cullen will also cross-examine Department of
Fisheries and Oceans officials about federal assessments of the
project’s environmental impacts.

JRP hearings continue in Prince Rupert this week and are set to resume
there on February 4.  The panel will sit for two-week rotations until
early spring and must issue its recommendation by the end of 2013.

Dear David,

Apologies for the delay in my response. This week was jammed with
board meetings for our riding and a massive volunteer appreciation BBQ
that we held yesterday. I'm just catching up on messages now.

Apropos the information you sent to me, I found it very interesting.
In fact, here in Calgary East, I'm planning a series of
workshops/public lectures that look at "Corruption in Canada". My
policy team and I are meeting this week to discuss the items you sent
to me and your case in particular to see what we can do in terms of,
at least, bringing some public awareness to this case and other cases
of corruption and questionable practices in Canadian governance and
government relations with businesses.

Do make sure to send us a follow up on what you decide to do, apropos
your proposed law suit. I will share the information with my team.

As my own follow up question, though, why have you sent me this
material as opposed to approaching your local MP and/or Liberal
candidate? Surely others would be interested too.

I know Ted. He's a great person and he'll be a wonderful MP. Do let me
know what transpires on that front.

Best of luck in your efforts. We'll chat soon,

Josipa

Say hey to Ted Hsu

I explained myself to your sister Ana ( who was quite nice) She
obviously told you I had called after you responded to my first emaiI.
She told me you were heading out to debate that night so I sent you
the email with the attachemnt about BHP and Potash Corp so you could
embarass some Conservatives as to why Harper stopped the hostile
takeover last year but clearly you did not read it in time for the
election but there is still a bit of time to stir the pot before the
Speech from the Throne in June

Anyway to answer your question I am the whistleblower that inspired
this hearing in Washington DC before I came home and ran for public
office 4 times in Canada between 2004 and 2006 then got stuck here
without my wife and kids

Hi David -

I just heard your message (sort of) on the telephone.
Unfortunately the line is garbled and all I could hear was your name and
a mention of a Senate website site. The rest is mostly garbled for some
reason and I can't make out your phone number or the website you were
trying to direct me towards. Were you on a cell phone, by chance? It
sounds like digital interference on the phone.

That said, I have indeed scanned through the emails you sent to me,
but I have a number of questions, as the order of the emails is all
over the place and it's hard for me to track what happened when and
who you were responding to at certain times.

I thought that it might be easier for you to come to one of our
meetings (i.e. our board meeting on June 1st). We always leave a
slot of time for people from the community, like yourself, to talk about
issues thought to be important and which we, as Liberals, can talk about.

Indeed, as I'm developing a lecture series for Calgary East right now, it
might be worthwhile having you succinctly explain the situation and your
role in whistleblowing, so that I can grasp the issues at hand.

In the meantime, could you email me your number and a link to the
website you mentioned. I can start by looking at the site.

Cheers, Josipa

A F F I D A V I T

I, Stephen J. May, of the City of St. John's, in the Province of
Newfoundland and Labrador, Barrister and Solicitor, make oath and say
as follows:

THAT I am a Partner in the St. John's office of PATTERSON PALMER
solicitors for William Matthews, the Member of Parliament for
Random-Burin-St. George's in the Parliament of Canada.

THAT Mr. Matthews originally retained Mr. Edward Roberts, Q.C. on or
about 30 April 2002 after Mr. Byron Prior, the Defendant/Plaintiff by
Counterclaim, had made allegations against Mr. Matthews in a
publication called "My Inheritance - The truth - Not Fiction: A Town
with a Secret". In that publication, the allegation was made that Mr.
Matthews had had sex with a girl who had been prostituted by her
mother. That girl was alleged to have been Mr. Prior's sister.

THAT upon being retained, Mr. Edward Roberts wrote a letter to Mr.
Prior. That letter to Mr. Prior is attached as Exhibit "1" to my
Affidavit.

THAT subsequent to Mr. Roberts' letter to Mr. Prior, Mr. Roberts
received a 1 May 2002 e-mail from Mr. Prior. That e-mail is attached
as Exhibit "2".

THAT subsequent to Mr. Roberts receipt of the e-mail, Mr. Prior swore
an Affidavit acknowledging that what had been said in that publication
was false. That Affidavit is attached as Exhibit "3" to my Affidavit.
Following Mr. Roberts' receipt of that Affidavit, Mr. Matthews advised
that he was satisfied not to pursue the matter any further and our
firm closed our file.

THAT on or about 25 October 2004, I was retained by Mr. Matthews
following his gaining knowledge that a web site, made a series of
allegations against him relating to my having sex with a girl of
approximately 12 years old through to an approximate age of 15 years
old. It also accused him of being a father of one of her children and
accused him of having raped that girl. Upon checking the web site I
saw that Byron Prior, the Defendant, had been identified as the author
of the material on the site.

THAT Mr. Matthews instructed me to write Mr. Prior, to remind him of
the fact that the allegations had been admitted to being false through
a 16 May 2002 Affidavit to advise him of Mr. Matthews' intentions to
commence legal proceedings if the comments were not removed from the
web site. A copy of my letter to Mr. Prior is attached as Exhibit "4"
to this Affidavit.

THAT I attach as Exhibit "5" a transcript from a 5 November 2004
voicemail left by David Amos, identified in the voicemail as a friend
of Mr. Prior.

THAT I attach as Exhibit "6" a portion of a 6 November 2004 e-mail
from Mr. Amos.

THAT until I received his voicemail and e-mail, I had never heard of Mr. Amos.

THAT Mr. Amos has continued to send me e-mail since his 5 November
e-mail. Including his 6 November 2004 e-mail, I have received a total
of 15 e-mails as of 23 January 2005. All do not address Mr. Matthews'
claim or my involvement as Mr. Matthews' solicitor. I attach as
Exhibit "7" a portion of a 12 January 2005 e-mail that Mr. Amos sent
to me but originally came to my attention through Ms. Lois Skanes
whose firm had received a copy. This e-mail followed the service of
the Statement of Claim on 11 January 2005 on Mr. Prior. I also attach
as Exhibit "8" a copy of a 19 January 2005 e-mail from Mr. Amos.

THAT I attach as Exhibit "9" a copy of a 22 November 2004 letter
addressed to me from Edward Roberts, the Lieutenant Governor of
Newfoundland and Labrador covering a 2 September 2004 letter from Mr.
Amos addressed to John Crosbie, Edward Roberts, in his capacity as
Lieutenant Governor, Danny Williams, in his capacity as Premier of
Newfoundland and Labrador, and Brian F. Furey, President of the Law
Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. I requested a copy of this
letter from Government House after asking Mr. Roberts if he had
received any correspondence from Mr. Amos during his previous
representation of Mr. Matthews. He advised me that he received a
letter since becoming Lieutenant Governor, portions of which involved
his representation of Mr. Matthews. Mr. Roberts' letter also covered
his reply to Mr. Amos.

THAT I attach as Exhibit "10" an e-mail from Mr. Amos received on
Sunday, 23 January 2005.

THAT I swear this Affidavit in support of the Application to strike
Mr. Prior's counterclaim.

SWORN to before me at
St. John's, Province of Newfoundland and Labrador this 24th day of
January, 2005.

Subject: David Amos

Hello Lisa,

David Amos asked me to contact you. I met him last June after he became
an independent (not representing any political party) candidate in our federal
election that was held June 28. He was a candidate in our constituency of
Fundy (now called  Fundy-Royal).

I wrote a profile story about him, as I did all other candidates. That
story appeared in the Kings County Record June 22. A second story, written
by one of my reporters, appeared on the same date, which was a report on
the candidates' debate held June 18.

As I recall David Amos came last of four candidates in the election.
The winner got 14,997 votes, while Amos got 358.

I have attached the two stories that appeared, as well as a photo
taken by reporter Erin Hatfield during the debate. I couldn't find the photo
that ran, but this one is very similar.

Raising a Little Hell- Lively Debate Provokes Crowd

By Erin Hatfield

"If you don't like what you got, why don't you change it? If your
world is all screwed up, rearrange it."

The 1979 Trooper song Raise a Little Hell blared on the speakers at
the 8th Hussars Sports Center Friday evening as people filed in to
watch the Fundy candidates debate the issues. It was an accurate, if
unofficial, theme song for the debate.

The crowd of over 200 spectators was dwarfed by the huge arena, but as
they chose their seats, it was clear the battle lines were drawn.
Supporters of Conservative candidate Rob Moore naturally took the blue
chairs on the right of the rink floor while John Herron's Liberalswent
left. There were splashes of orange, supporters of NDP Pat Hanratty,
mixed throughout. Perhaps the loudest applause came from a row towards
the back, where supporters of independent candidate David Amos sat.

The debate was moderated by Leo Melanson of CJCW Radio and was
organized by the Sussex Valley Jaycees. Candidates wereasked a barrage
of questions bypanelists Gisele McKnight of the Kings County Record
and Lisa Spencer of CJCW.

Staying true to party platforms for the most part, candidates
responded to questions about the gun registry, same sex marriage, the
exodus of young people from the Maritimes and regulated gas prices.
Herron and Moore were clear competitors, constantly challenging each
other on their answers and criticizing eachothers' party leaders.
Hanratty flew under the radar, giving short, concise responses to the
questions while Amos provided some food for thought and a bit of comic
relief with quirky answers. "I was raised with a gun," Amos said in
response to the question of thenational gun registry. "Nobody's
getting mine and I'm not paying 10 cents for it."

Herron, a Progressive Conservative MP turned Liberal, veered from his
party'splatform with regard to gun control. "It was ill advised but
well intentioned," Herron said. "No matter what side of the house I am
on, I'm voting against it." Pat Hanratty agreed there were better
places for the gun registry dollars to be spent.Recreational hunters
shouldn't have been penalized by this gun registry," he said.

The gun registry issues provoked the tempers of Herron and Moore. At
one point Herron got out of his seat and threw a piece of paper in
front of Moore. "Read that," Herron said to Moore, referring to the
voting record of Conservative Party leader Steven Harper. According to
Herron, Harper voted in favour of the registry on the first and second
readings of the bill in 1995. "He voted against it when it counted, at
final count," Moore said. "We needa government with courage to
register sex offenders rather than register the property of law
abiding citizens."

The crowd was vocal throughout the evening, with white haired men and
women heckling from the Conservative side. "Shut up John," one woman
yelled. "How can you talk about selling out?" a man yelled whenHerron
spoke about his fear that the Conservatives are selling farmers out.

Although the Liberal side was less vocal, Kings East MLA Leroy
Armstrong weighed in at one point. "You're out of touch," Armstrong
yelled to Moore from the crowd when the debate turned to the cost of
post-secondary education. Later in the evening Amos challenged
Armstrong to a public debate of their own. "Talk is cheap. Any time,
anyplace," Armstrong responded.

As the crowd made its way out of the building following the debate,
candidates worked the room. They shook hands with well-wishers and
fielded questions from spectators-all part of the decision-making
process for the June 28 vote.

Cutline – David Amos, independent candidate in Fundy, with some of his
favourite possessions—motorcycles.

McKnight/KCR

The Unconventional Candidate

David Amos Isn't Campaigning For Your Vote, But….

By Gisele McKnight

FUNDY—He has a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket, a chain on his
wallet, a beard at least a foot long, 60 motorcycles and a cell phone
that rings to the tune of "Yankee Doodle."

Meet the latest addition to the Fundy ballot—David Amos.

The independent candidate lives in Milton, Massachusetts with his wife
and two children, but his place of residence does not stop him from
running for office in Canada.

One has only to be at least 18, a Canadian citizen and not be in jail
to meet Elections Canada requirements.

When it came time to launch his political crusade, Amos chose his
favourite place to do so—Fundy.

Amos, 52, is running for political office because of his
dissatisfaction with politicians.

"I've become aware of much corruption involving our two countries," he
said. "The only way to fix corruption is in the political forum."

The journey that eventually led Amos to politics began in Sussex in
1987. He woke up one morning disillusioned with life and decided he
needed to change his life.

"I lost my faith in mankind," he said. "People go through that
sometimes in midlife."

So Amos, who'd lived in Sussex since 1973, closed his Four Corners
motorcycle shop, paid his bills and hit the road with Annie, his 1952
Panhead motorcycle.

"Annie and I rode around for awhile (three years, to be exact)
experiencing the milk of human kindness," he said. "This is how you
renew your faith in mankind – you help anyone you can, you never ask
for anything, but you take what they offer."

For those three years, they offered food, a place to sleep, odd jobs
and conversation all over North America.

Since he and Annie stopped wandering, he has married, fathered a son
and a daughter and become a house-husband – Mr. Mom, as he calls
himself.

He also describes himself in far more colourful terms—a motorcyclist
rather than a biker, a "fun-loving, free-thinking, pig-headed
individual," a "pissed-off Maritimer" rather than an activist, a proud
Canadian and a "wild colonial boy."

Ironically, the man who is running for office has never voted in his life.

"But I have no right to criticize unless I offer my name," he said.
"It's alright to bitch in the kitchen, but can you walk the walk?"

Amos has no intention of actively campaigning.

"I didn't appreciate it when they (politicians) pounded on my door
interrupting my dinner," he said. "If people are interested, they can
call me. I'm not going to drive my opinions down their throats."

And he has no campaign budget, nor does he want one.

"I won't take any donations," he said. "Just try to give me some. It's
not about money. It goes against what I'm fighting about."

What he's fighting for is the discussion of issues – tainted blood,
the exploitation of the Maritimes' gas and oil reserves and NAFTA, to
name a few.

"The political issues in the Maritimes involve the three Fs – fishing,
farming and forestry, but they forget foreign issues," he said. "I'm
death on NAFTA, the back room deals and free trade. I say chuck it
(NAFTA) out the window.

NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement which allows an
easier flow of goods between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Amos disagrees with the idea that a vote for him is a wasted vote.

"There are no wasted votes," he said. "I want people like me,
especially young people, to pay attention and exercise their right.
Don't necessarily vote for me, but vote."

Although…if you're going to vote anyway, Amos would be happy to have
your X by his name.

"I want people to go into that voting booth, see my name, laugh and
say, 'what the hell.'"

I don't believe John Conway knows as much as he thinks he does so he
deserved to be somewhat more enlightened EH Brad Wall? Rest assured
that I called him and told him as much as he wanted to know while
Lingenfelter's campain manager played as dumb as a post about my
concerns.

However as dumb as Lingenfelter and his cohorts may pretend to be if
the NDP boss in SK truly practiced old style, right wing “take no
prisoners” politicking he who have embarassed the hell out of Brad
Wall last year with the letter from Jac Nasser to mean old me that is
hereto attached.

Anyone with two clues between their ears or even a dumb NDP dude would
know that BHP Billiton's Marius Kloppers visiting Brad Wall during an
election campaign is just no coincidence at all. Something smells
truly rotten indeed. However the only way to resolve my concerns is
byway of litigation CORRECT MR WALL?

Mr. Amos,

When you called my cell phone earlier, as I was on my way into a
meeting, you offered to send me an e-mail outline the information you
are looking for from the David Suzuki Foundation. Is this it??

I am not responding to Dave Amos' emails, but I believe I have heard
he has some "issues".  I have no sense of what his involvement is with
the organization or why he is threatening law suits (my receptionist
just intercepted a call and he told her he didn't want to leave a
message and to just tell her that he would "see me in court").

Does anyone have any idea what to do about this guy?   Should we just
ignore him?

COALITION CALLS ON LEADERS TO ACT IMMEDIATELY TO STOP OIL AND GAS
EXPLORATION IN GULF OF ST. LAWRENCE
For Immediate Release - October 4, 2010
PICTOU, NS – Today’s decision by the Canada Newfoundland and Labrador
Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB) to allow seismic blasting in the
Gulf of St. Lawrence was met with shock and concern by a coalition
calling for a moratorium on oil and gas development in the Gulf of St.
Lawrence. The coalition - made of aboriginal, fishing, and
environmental organizations - is calling on municipal, provincial,
federal, and aboriginal leaders to act swiftly to halt the testing.

“With this decision, the CNLOPB has approved an activity that could
damage this entire precious ecosystem,” according to Mary Gorman of
the Save Our Seas and Shores, “We want this decision reversed
immediately, and action taken to allow jurisdictions bordering on the
Gulf to have a say in its future.”

“Seismic testing could start in the next 48 hours, potentially
damaging marine mammals like blue whales, and disrupting fish and
fisheries. This approval has given oil and gas as a toehold in the
Gulf that could lead to full scale drilling,” according to Danielle
Giroux of the. “Fishermen I work for need more say over protecting the
Gulf. We want the CNLOPB’s decision reversed immediately.”

“An oil spill in the Gulf of St. Lawrence would impact fish stocks and
coastal communities in Quebec, PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and
Newfoundland. Moreover, the national importance of this ecosystem must
be upheld.”  says Gretchen Fitzgerald, of the Sierra Club Canada. “
Federal laws to protect endangered species and fish habitat recognize
the importance of protecting our shared biodiversity and resources.
This decision is not reflecting this shared responsibility or concerns
expressed by groups around the Gulf.”

Bennett was assisting Cape Bretoners opposing a coal-fired power plant
at Point Aconi in Nova Scotia when he first caught the attention
Elizabeth May, then Sierra Club Canada’s executive-director. May liked
his approach – among other things, he’d brought his wife and two
daughters to a potluck supper meeting and assured the group he was
there to hear from them, not issue orders. Several years – and, after
an interview on a train ride from Toronto to Ottawa -- later, she
hired him as the Club’s director of atmosphere and energy.

He managed environmental education campaigns; was the Club’s main
spokesperson on air, energy, automotive and climate change issues;
prepared fundraising proposals; and wrote position papers and research
articles.

During this period, Bennett also headed the Climate Action Network, an
association of up to 100 environmental, health, labour and faith
organizations from 10 provinces and two territories. There, he was
also the chief spokesperson, wrote releases and papers, and acted as
liaison with government officials, ministers, MPs, their staffs and
industry leaders. He did similar work with a successor organization,
ClimateforChange.ca.

It was then that he was involved in preparing reporters for the
federal Conservative government’s climate plan. “I figured we had to
talk to the media. We had to meet the government head-on, and say what
they were doing was going backward. We were very effective.”

The work “succeeded to the extent that when Stéphane Dion became
Liberal leader, the party thought the climate and environment were
where they should campaign. They were right; they just did it very
badly.”

A spirit of collaboration

Most recently, Bennett was communications director for the Green Party
of Canada, including the 2008 campaign in which the Greens, led by
May, won nearly a million votes and was the only party to increase its
total.

“It’s a well-rounded background, ranging from activist events to
negotiating in the halls of power,” Bennett says. “My knowledge covers
the spectrum of issues across the country.”

Bennett’s experience has demonstrated the importance of collaborating
with other groups and including as many people as possible, and their
ideas, in whatever work must be done. That was especially obvious in
the creation of the Green Budget Coalition, which analyzed federal
budgets in terms of their impact on environmental concerns.
