Anna Lillian Amos-Nickerson

June 24, 1923 - October 19, 2023 (100 years old)

Anna lived a full life and after 100 years passed away peacefully at Parkland, Tucker Hall, Saint John, where she was well looked after by the kind, dedicated, caring nurses and staff. Anna was born in Dorchester, N.B. her parents were the late Alfred Dawson Mitton and Marguerite Mitton (Smith). Following her marriage Anna lived in British Columbia and then relocated to Dorchester until 1967 when Fredericton became home. Saint John was her final residence although Fredericton remained her favorite location.

Anna is survived by six of her seven children. Ronald M. Amos (Theresa) Ottawa, Elizabeth A. Keirstead (Eric) Miramichi, Nancy J. Chedore (Reid) Saint John, David R. Amos (Jean) Kars, N.B. Dale C. Amos, N.B. and Scott E. Amos, (Melanie) Fredericton, as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by husbands, C. Max Amos (1984) and Lloyd H. Nickerson (1997) and one son, Brian Keith Amos (Martha) 1995. Anna was the last survivor of eight siblings having been predeceased by brothers Norval, Raymond, Alvin, Orland and Austin Mitton and sisters Alva Gildart and Aderine Perremont.

Anna's career was home making. She was known for her delicious meals, bread, buns, pastry and jam. Her home was spotless (most of the time, there were seven children) and in her free moments she could be found in her vegetable and flower gardens, or knitting mittens, socks and afghans. The family have many of her warm hand knit socks and needlepoint pictures.

In keeping with Anna's wishes there will no funeral service. A gathering of family to share memories was held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on October 22, 2023 with interment in Fair Haven Cemetery.
