Health Minister Bruce Fitch is latest PC minister to leave politics

Health Minister Bruce Fitch is latest PC minister to leave politics

Long-serving Riverview MLA says 'tumultuous' year within Tory party didn’t influence decision to retire

One of the longest-serving Progressive Conservative members of the legislature has joined several of his colleagues heading for the exits.

Health Minister Bruce Fitch, MLA for Riverview since 2003, said Friday he will not seek another term in this fall's provincial election.

But he said he plans to stick around as MLA until then and is willing to stay in cabinet and not "take the foot off the gas" on health-care improvements.

"It's up to the premier about the cabinet appointment, but I've certainly said I'm more than willing to run it right up to the wire, because there's a lot of very good things going on," Fitch said.

Health Minister Bruce Fitch announces he will not seek another term

Duration 1:25
Fitch says he promised his family during the last election that this would be his last term.

In a statement, Premier Blaine Higgs thanked Fitch for his long service.

"I know it wasn't an easy decision to retire and each person comes and goes from politics for their own unique reasons," he said.

"I wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement."

The minister, who turned 65 this year, said it was the right time to step back and focus on other things, including his family.

Fitch is the 11th Tory MLA elected in 2020 to either quit or decide not to run again, though he made it clear his decision had nothing to do with Higgs's leadership.

"I feel the only option for the province of New Brunswick in the next election is Premier Higgs and the PC team," he said.

Fitch was not among the six PC MLAs who voted against Higgs on Policy 713 last June, some of whom complained about the premier's leadership style.

He told reporters he had decided heading into the last campaign in 2020 that it would be his final term.

And he avoided questions Friday about the split in the PC caucus and how Higgs's leadership style compared to the two other Tory premiers he worked with, Bernard Lord and David Alward.

"All three premiers have had different manners of administration," he said.

"The last year has been a little tumultuous. That's obvious. But that's not weighing on my decision."

Fitch, a former mayor of Riverview, held a variety of high-profile provincial cabinet positions over the years, including energy, economic development, environment and local government, social development and health.

He was also interim leader of the PC party and the official opposition from 2014 to 2016.

Well look at what and who baled ship from the Liberals , and how quickly NB went from a minority government to a majority when it was revealed their plan with their " pet project " that went from 17 million to 130 million to appease their base .

I don't think this gentleman is responsible for any improvement in Health Care in the Province so perhaps it's time to get someone in the Health Department that can do the job and tell it like it is -- Higgs or no Higgs!

Being 65 years of age now , and with over 20 years of service as an MLA , his pension would be significant ; and he can collect it as soon as he leaves political office . Thank you for your service to our province Mr. Fitch ; best of luck in your retirement .

Not if Higgs has anything to do with it. Dr. Parrott was a member of the PC caucus until Higgs didn’t like his suggestions about health care. For reference Higgs was finance minister at the time as it was the Alward government.

It really depends on which decade an individual picked up his ideologies from. I sincerely hope we are done with the 1970's view of the world. We've had a really bad run of that with the Liberals and Conservatives for the last 50 years. I wouldn't mind a guy or gal who was interested in weakening the party apparatus in our politics. It should be hard to get bad ideas pushed through from both inside and outside of a party. If it was very hard to do we might succeed in trying to get money to buy political outcomes.

Dear Mr. Amos,

Thank you for your follow up e-mail to me today. I was on days off over the holidays and returned to work this evening. Rest assured I was not ignoring or procrastinating to respond to your concerns.

As your attachment sent today refers from Premier Graham, our position is clear on your dead calf issue: Our forensic labs do not process testing on animals in cases such as yours, they are referred to the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown who can provide these services. If you do not choose to utilize their expertise in this instance, then that is your decision and nothing more can be done.

As for your other concerns regarding the US Government, false imprisonment and Federal Court Dates in the US, etc... it is clear that Federal authorities are aware of your concerns both in Canada and the US. These issues do not fall into the purvue of Detachment policing in Petitcodiac, NB.

It was indeed an interesting and informative conversation we had on December 23rd, and I wish you well in all of your future endeavors.

PC Leader Bruce Fitch calls for Justice Minister Stephen Horsman to resign

Fitch alleges Horsman 'lied' to legislature about judges calling him to discuss Bill 21

The proper thing for him to do to restore some kind of faith or credibility to this government is resign.
- Bruce Fitch, interim Tory leader

Horsman later contacted CBC News to say he had misspoken in the house. "No one's actually personally calling me," he had said. "I see people at functions, and they come up to me and state, 'Thanks for including judges in the whole process.'"

On Tuesday, Fitch called that "a confession."

"It's a lie and he's trying to cover up that lie and that's inexcusable, especially for a minister of justice," Fitch told reporters.

It's also "improper" for Horsman to be talking directly to justices when the chief justice should be his "point of contact" in the justice system, said Fitch.

"The proper thing for him to do to restore some kind of faith or credibility to this government is resign" from all his positions because "it's the same face, whatever hat you put on," he said.

If Horsman "doesn't see the errors in his way and won't resign, then it's up to the premier to show the leadership and ask the minister to resign."

'I see no issue at all'

In a written statement issued on Tuesday, Horsman said he "may have left the impression" during his remarks in the legislature that he had received personal phone calls from justices, but he wanted to clarify that he has "had the opportunity to engage in conversation with various members of the judiciary on a range of subjects" while carrying out his duties.

Asked whether he had "lied" in the legislature, Horsman replied, "Absolutely not."

Justice Minister Stephen Horsman denies the allegation he 'lied' in the legislature and will 'absolutely not' resign. (CBC)

"That, to me, is just politics," he told reporters of Fitch's allegations. "What do I say to that? I'm not going to play that political game," he said.

Horsman reiterated that no justices are calling him to discuss the amendments to the Judicature Act outlined in Bill 21 and that he will "absolutely not" resign.

Premier Brian Gallant also rejected calls for him to step in and seek Horsman's resignation.

He said it's "not very uncommon" for someone to have to clarify comments made in the legislature where "you're answering a question with one minute."

"It's not always the easiest thing to do, so at times you say it the wrong way, so he clarified his comments right away. I see no issue at all," Gallant said, following a jobs announcement in Saint John.

"The deputy premier is doing a great job, he's working very hard to move the province forward, he's somebody that has a lot of integrity … We're very proud of the work he's doing."

The Progressive Conservatives and Green Party both say Bill 21 is unconstitutional because it would violate the independence of the courts. A government could use its veto to punish a justice who made decisions it didn't like, they say.

Debate on the bill was adjourned on May 18 after Green Party Leader David Coon raised procedural objections to its third reading. But the premier has said he intends to get the bill passed when the legislature resumes on June 28.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rajinder "Raj" Saini (born August 21, 1967) is an Indian-Canadian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Kitchener Centre in the House of Commons of Canada from 2015 to 2021.

Saini was first elected to Parliament in the 2015 federal election.[4] He said that one of his top priorities for his time in Ottawa would be addressing Canada's need for a national pharmacare policy.[1] He was a member of two parliamentary committees, the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee, as well as the Access to Information, Privacy, and Ethics Committee.[5] Reflecting an interest in Foreign Affairs, Saini was a member of multiple Parliamentary Associations and Parliamentary Friendship Groups, including the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association, the Canada-Israel Interparliamentary Group, the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group, the Canadian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the Canadian Delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), and the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association (NATO PA). He was also an executive member of the Canada-Germany Interparliamentary Group.[5]

Saini spoke in the House of Commons on topics including the International Day for Tolerance, Public Safety Canada, the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, and Canada's efforts to combat ISIL.[6]

Sexual harassment allegations

In 2021, allegations emerged that Saini engaged in inappropriate behaviour including unwanted sexual advances towards female staffers on four occasions.[7] On September 4, Saini announced he was ending his campaign for re-election, denying any wrongdoing.[8] Saini did not withdraw his candidacy prior to the close of nominations and his name remained on the ballot as the Liberal candidate for the September 20 vote.[9]

Regarding the alleged incidents, Saini had been cleared of wrongdoing by a workplace assessment independently commissioned by the House of Commons in the spring of 2020. The workplace assessment concluded that the staffer making the allegations was "creating a toxic environment and many staff and the MP report strained relationships with her" and recommended that "the employment relationship may need to be reconsidered ... in order to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for the remainder of the staff."[10] The staffer who made the allegations had her employment terminated with cause in August 2020 by the House of Commons. Saini was advised to seek a restraining order against the staffer by the Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel, though he refused

The interim Public Sector Integrity Commissioner refused to appear at
OGGO today, what a lack of transparency from the government!

Lets just say say I downloaded and saved then watched these webcasts
several times with great interest after I watched the webcast of April
28th. After my recent conversations with the OGGO clerk and several
others I suspect that you all know why by now.

Everybody knows that I have been calling Joe Friday and his many
cohorts liars for years and saved the proof of what I say is true
Correct? Check this out before you dare to disagree.

I talked to Don Newman earlier this week before the beancounters David
Dodge and Don Drummond now of Queen's gave their spin about Canada's
Health Caree system yesterday and Sheila Fraser yapped on and on on
CAPAC during her last days in office as if she were oh so
elthical.. To be fair to him I just called Greg Weston (613-288-6938)
I suggested that he should at least Google SOUCOM and David Amos It
would be wise if he check ALL of CBC's sources before he publishes
something else about the DND EH Don Newman? Lets just say that the fact that
your old CBC buddy, Tony Burman is now in charge of Al Jazeera English
never impressed me. The fact that he set up a Canadian office is
interesting though

Anyone can call me back and stress test my integrity after they read
this simple pdf file. BTW what you Blue Sky dudes published about
Potash Corp and BHP is truly funny. Perhaps Stevey Boy Harper or Brad
Wall will fill ya in if you are to shy to call mean old me.

Enjoy Mr Weston

http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news/story/2011/05/15/weston-iraq-invasion-wikileaks.html

"But Lang, defence minister McCallum's chief of staff, says military
brass were not entirely forthcoming on the issue. For instance, he
says, even McCallum initially didn't know those soldiers were helping
to plan the invasion of Iraq up to the highest levels of command,
including a Canadian general.

That general is Walt Natynczyk, now Canada's chief of defence staff,
who eight months after the invasion became deputy commander of 35,000
U.S. soldiers and other allied forces in Iraq. Lang says Natynczyk was
also part of the team of mainly senior U.S. military brass that helped
prepare for the invasion from a mobile command in Kuwait."

http://baconfat53.blogspot.com/2010/06/canada-and-united-states.html

"I remember years ago when the debate was on in Canada, about there
being weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Our American 'friends"
demanded that Canada join into "the Coalition of the Willing. American
"veterans" and sportscasters loudly denounced Canada for NOT buying
into the US policy.

At the time I was serving as a planner at NDHQ and with 24 other of my
colleagues we went to Tampa SOUCOM HQ to be involved in the planning
in the planning stages of the op....and to report to NDHQ, that would
report to the PMO upon the merits of the proposed operation. There was
never at anytime an existing target list of verified sites where there
were deployed WMD.

Coalition assets were more than sufficient for the initial strike and
invasion phase but even at that point in the planning, we were
concerned about the number of "boots on the ground" for the occupation
(and end game) stage of an operation in Iraq. We were also concerned
about the American plans for occupation plans of Iraq because they at
that stage included no contingency for a handing over of civil
authority to a vetted Iraqi government and bureaucracy.

There was no detailed plan for Iraq being "liberated" and returned to
its people...nor a thought to an eventual exit plan. This was contrary
to the lessons of Vietnam but also to current military thought, that
folks like Colin Powell and "Stuffy" Leighton and others elucidated
upon."What's the mission" how long is the mission, what conditions are
to met before US troop can redeploy?

Prime Minister Jean Chretien and the PMO were even at the very
preliminary planning stages wary of Canadian involvement in an Iraq
operation....History would prove them correct. The political pressure
being applied on the PMO from the George W Bush administration was
onerous

American military assets were extremely overstretched, and Canadian
military assets even more so It was proposed by the PMO that Canadian
naval platforms would deploy to assist in naval quarantine operations
in the Gulf and that Canadian army assets would deploy in Afghanistan
thus permitting US army assets to redeploy for an Iraqi
operation....The PMO thought that "compromise would save Canadian
lives and liberal political capital.. and the priority of which
....not necessarily in that order. "

You can bet that I called these sneaky Yankees again today EH John
Adams? of the CSE within the DND?

Your lawyers can trust that the link I provide below are to a very

will see that the Governor General as Commander in Chief of our Armed
Forces has already admitted to receiving two sets of the hard copy of
some of my documents and two CDs from me already and suggested that I

already have their fancy knickers in a knot.

Need I say that to me your Commission is just another bunch of
chickenshit bureaucrats like all the rest? So please allow me to
introduce you to the evil bastard himself He is purportedly Barry K.
Winters if not at least that is his email address.

I must say I find it interesting the the Russians care more about my
battles with a zionist than the very people in my native land who
employ him. Interesting EH Mr Harper and Iggy?

No need to enlist me into the Privy Council and swear me to secrecy,
It is not National Security I am concerned about it is the security
and well being of my family. I am gonna do my best to make sure the
Russians, Chinese and Iranians know EVERYTHING that you and the

crimes etc. Why not if your employee can brag about planning wars and
advocating the murder of my family talking about what I know of
banksters etc is small potatoes EH Franky Boy McKenna, Jacky Boy

That said I must ask Raymonde Cléroux the obvious question after what
you witnessed in "Barry K' Winters" blog howcome your did not call the
RCMP if not the Military Police yourself? Scroll down and try to
figure out a proper answer as to whether or not the evil zionist broke

in 2002.

And within the info many of my YOUTUBES

BTW the RCMP and the Edmonton PD have refused to do anything so rest
assured I will take care of the evil bastard myself in an ethical and
rather stylish fashion. As I said NOBODY sexually harasses and
threatens to kill my children. However I will file a lawsuit against
the CROWN to cover my butt before I kick his. Perhaps you should
worry about your pocketbook in the "Mean" time.

Perhaps your lawyers should review the CROWN Liabilty Act as if
pertains to the CSE and the DND then study every word of that
zionist's malicious blog to see if I am wrong about why the
commissioner of the Human Rights Commission would not defend her own
reputation.. No matter how secretive the CSE and the RCMP may be at
least you admitted to the knowledge of the death threats and sexual
harassment of my children after I have been complaining of your
associate for over a year. Tell me why I don't sue you dudes
personally starting with Colonel Pearson and his idiot assistant Lt
Col Tony Weber who think everything is too funny and don't wish their
military police to bother to act within the scope of their employment
just like you would not EH?

April 10, 2010
Some where in the streets and alleys tonight
Some where in the alleys of New Brunswick and Calgary are two uneducated
bums, another day closer to their demise. They are homeless, shiftless,
uneducated, loud, obnoxious and insane ...for these "people" death now is
better than another day of life...they have made nothing of their
lives...and are nothing but a burden to their families, "friends" and
the....tax payer.

David Amos is reduced now to the status of bum, wandering about asking people
for spare change, and scouring the streets for cigarette butts to smoke.
When he gets some change he does this sort of thing.

I managed to talk to a Lieutenant-Colonel Tony Weber is Acting Base Commander
of Base Gagetown 506 422 2000 ext 1410. He and one of his Sgt Majors even
looked at Barry Winter's blog for me

We seemed to get along as we discussed their vague knowledge of politicians,
Afghanistan, other officers they claimed to have never heard of, the CSE, our
missing emails and the words within Barry Winters blog. the Lt Col truly
seemed like an ok dude.

But the instant he said that Barry Winters malicious words were of no
embarrassment to him I got pissed all over again. Imagine if such shit had
been published by a former officer about him or his family? I bet he
would have sued his bosses long ago if winters had not be locked
up immediately.

Anyway I told the Lt Col that I would see him in courtand hung up on the
snobby bastard and split before the RCMP attempted to corner me in another
phone booth like they did for another one of Harper's former Minister Greggy
Baby Thompson's evil minions two years ago. Small wonder he is quitting
politics EH IGGY?

Oh Dear....how far has the "real deal" the "ethical whistle blower" has
fallen.
