Statement from the Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister, Nathalie G. Drouin

From: Privy Council Office
Statement

“On October 14th, because of a significant and ongoing threat to public safety, the RCMP and officials took the extraordinary step of making public accusations of serious criminal activity in Canada perpetrated by agents of the Government of India.

The Government of Canada has not stated, nor is it aware of evidence, linking Prime Minister Modi, Minister Jaishankar, or NSA Doval to the serious criminal activity within Canada.

Any suggestion to the contrary is both speculative and inaccurate.”

Did you read this??? "Mark Carney’s abrupt ascent to the leadership of Canada’s Liberal Party and his appointment as prime minister have unleashed a wave of controversy. His parachuting into the safe Liberal riding of Nepean, displacing veteran MP Chandra Arya, has raised eyebrows, but the real focus of scrutiny lies with Arya’s son, Siddhant Arya, and his prominent position at Brookfield Asset Management—a firm deeply tied to Carney."

Liberal MP Sean Fraser changes mind, will seek re-election

Former cabinet minister announced in December he would not run again

Liberal MP and former cabinet minister Sean Fraser is cancelling his plans to retire from politics and will announce today he will seek re-election in his Nova Scotia riding of Central Nova.

CBC News first reported the news Tuesday morning and Fraser later confirmed it in an interview.

"It's an opportunity to demonstrate to my kids that when there are important fights to have, good people need to stand up to bullies," he said, in reference to the current U.S. administration.

Fraser said he made the decision Monday after a phone call from Liberal Leader Mark Carney asking him to reconsider.

Fraser announced in December he wouldn't run again because of the strain the job placed on his family life. But sources say Carney reassured Fraser they would find a way to balance his workload with his family life.

Liberal MP Sean Fraser changes mind, seeks re-election in Nova Scotia

Liberal MP and former cabinet minister Sean Fraser confirms he will seek re-election in the riding of Central Nova in Nova Scotia after he decided to step away from politics in December 2024. Fraser said he received a call from Liberal Party Leader Mark Carney about reconsidering to run and said he got assurances from Carney that he will be able to balance family life with work.

Fraser said Carney assured him that if he stayed on he would be able to spend more time with his family.

"We probably spent half an hour on the phone discussing the assurances that we could create a family-friendly environment that would allow me to serve my community without compromising my ability to be a present husband and father," he said.

Fraser and Carney are expected to appear together at an event later today in Nova Scotia where the news will be officially announced.

Asked about the news in Halifax, Carney said Fraser is an "exceptional public servant."

"I and my colleagues have wanted Sean Fraser to come back and serve Canada at this crucial time. Sean stepping up for our country ... is exceptionally good news for Canada," he said.

Fraser stepped down from the federal cabinet in December when he announced he wouldn't run again. He was the federal housing minister until then, and immigration minister before that.

The Liberals nominated a candidate to run in Central Nova last week. The nominee, Graham Murray, was the only Nova Scotia Liberal candidate absent from Carney's appearance in Halifax on Tuesday.

Fraser is not the first high-profile Liberal to change their mind about running in the upcoming election. Cabinet minister Anita Anand had said she would not run again, but changed her mind last month.

New Brunswick MP Wayne Long and Ontario MP Helena Jaczek also said they would not run again, but then reversed course.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre seized on the news to reiterate his point that a Carney Liberal government would lead to more of the same, and criticized Fraser's record on the immigration and housing files.

"He helped contribute to creating this crisis in the first place. And now Mark Carney and the Liberals say that he should be back," Poilievre told reporters in Vaughan, Ont.

Chandra Arya
I have been informed by the Liberal Party that my nomination as the candidate for the upcoming federal election in Nepean has been revoked. While this news is deeply disappointing, it does not diminish the profound honour and privilege it has been to serve the people of Nepean — and all Canadians — as their Member of Parliament since 2015. Over the years, I have poured my heart and soul into this role. I am immensely proud of the work I have done as a parliamentarian, the unwavering service I have provided to the residents of Nepean, the principled stands I have taken on issues that matter deeply to Canadians, and the causes I have stood up for — even when it was difficult, even when it came at a personal or political cost. Serving my community and country has been the greatest responsibility of my life, and I remain grateful for every moment of it.

Liberals revoke Chandra Arya's nomination, after removing him from leadership race

National campaign director informed Arya in letter, but provided no reason

A man in a suite walks outside and waves.
Liberal MP Chandra Arya, pictured in 2019, had already been nominated, but the party's national director told him in a letter that new information led the campaign co-chair to recommend that his "status as a candidate" be revoked. (Justin Tang/The Canadian Press)

Chandra Arya, a Liberal backbench MP whose short-lived bid to replace Justin Trudeau as leader was cut short by the party, says he has been dropped as the candidate for the Ottawa riding of Nepean.

The 62-year-old has represented the riding since 2015.

National campaign director Andrew Bevan informed Arya of the decision in a letter Thursday, just days before an expected election call.

The move to remove him comes almost two months after the party also told Arya it would not accept him as a candidate for the party leadership.

Arya had already been nominated, but the letter says new information obtained by the party's "green light committee" led the campaign co-chair to recommend that his "status as a candidate" be revoked.

Bevan does not include any details about the new information.

Arya, who shared the letter on his Facebook page, says being an MP was the "responsibility of my life."

Liberals reject candidacy

"While this news is deeply disappointing, it does not diminish the profound honour and privilege it has been to serve the people of Nepean — and all Canadians — as their Member of Parliament since 2015," he wrote.

The party also refused to provide any information when it rejected Arya's candidacy for the leadership race in January.

The decision opens an Ottawa seat as an option for Prime Minister Mark Carney, who has thus far not declared which riding he intends to run in during the election.

Various Liberals have suggested Carney could run in Edmonton, where he grew up; in Toronto, where the Liberals tend to do well; or in Ottawa, where he now lives.

Carney is widely expected to visit Rideau Hall to launch the election on Sunday, for a vote on either April 28 or May 5.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Steven Garrett MacKinnon (born September 28, 1966) is a Canadian politician who has been the member of Parliament (MP) for Gatineau since 2015. A member of the Liberal Party, MacKinnon is the Minister of Jobs and Families.

Early life and education

MacKinnon was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and studied business at the Université de Moncton and Queen's University.

In addition to his career in politics, MacKinnon has worked in business and public affairs. From 2007 to 2015, he was Senior Vice-President and National Practice Leader at a global public affairs consultancy firm, where he led teams and major projects in mergers and acquisitions and financial communications.

Political career

As political advisor

McKinnon served as executive assistant and an advisor to New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna from 1988 to 1995.

A supporter and advisor to former Prime Minister Paul Martin, McKinnon was named Deputy National Director upon Martin's election as party leader and Prime Minister. He acted as the party's communications chief during the 2004 election, and was promoted to national director of the Liberal Party of Canada after the election. In that role, he oversaw a overhaul of the party's constitution and the last competitive leadership contest decided through a delegated convention, both cumulating at the party's convention held in Montreal in December 2006 where fourth place contender Stéphane Dion emerged as the surprised victor. McKinnon announced he resignation as national director in the week immediately following the convention. He later served as the returning officer for the 2013 federal leadership election.[1]

Parliamentary career

MacKinnon first contested for a seat in parliament in the 2011 federal election in Gatineau, finishing third and almost 50 points behind Françoise Boivin, a former Liberal MP running for the New Democratic Party who secured 62% of the votes, and the then-incumbent Bloc Quebecois MP Richard Nadeau by just over 1 point.

Four years later at the 2015 election, MacKinnon returned and defeated Boivin by a 2-to-1 margin. He was relected in 2019 and 2021 with similar margins against Bloc Québécois rival Geneviève Nadeau.

MacKinnon was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement in January 2017, and with the exception for the campaign period in 2019 held the role continuously under three ministers until the dissolution of parliament prior to the 2021 election.

Frontbench career

Following the 2021 election, MacKinnon was appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as Chief Government Whip and was sworn in as a Privy Councillor.

He was promoted to cabinet in January 2024 on an interim basis as Leader of the Government in the House of Commons during the parental leave of the incoming House Leader Karina Gould. He was made a full member of cabinet in July as Minister of Labour and Minister of Seniors. In the cabinet shuffle that took place at the height of the 2024–2025 Canadian political crisis, MacKinnon relinquished the senior portfolio and consolidated other workforce related portfolios to became the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.

In the two weeks following the resignation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, MacKinnon publicly explored a bid in the 2025 Liberal Party of Canada leadership election,[2][3] but opted not to enter the race citing the short duration of the race. He later endorsed the candidacy of former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney. On January 25, MacKinnon was appointed Leader of the Government in the House of Commons of Canada after Karina Gould resigned from cabinet to run in the leadership race; MacKinnon had previously stood in for her during her maternity leave the previous year.

On March 14, 2025, upon the beginning of the 30th Canadian Ministry, MacKinnon was appointed Minister of Jobs and Families by new Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Mr. Amos,

Did you know that they eat puffins in Iceland?? Puffins!

Full disclosure: I have a cat named Puffin but she is (a) not from
Iceland; (b) does not eat puffins; (c) has no discernible central
nervous system - though I guess that is my cross to bear, as a
responsible cat owner, and not yours, as a public nuisance.

Did you enjoy your butter tart substitute? I was expecting a thank you
note but then I realized you were likely very busy suing the
government of Rwanda for using the wrong sort of hand cream or
something equally important.

Sincerely,

Dominic

Suzuki's people just surf the net and play dumb Correct?

I am not responding to Dave Amos' emails, but I believe I have heard
he has some "issues". I have no sense of what his involvement is with
the organization or why he is threatening law suits (my receptionist
just intercepted a call and he told her he didn't want to leave a
message and to just tell her that he would "see me in court").

Does anyone have any idea what to do about this guy? Should we just
ignore him?

Paula

Subject: The one true thing Stevey Boy MacKinnon said yesterday in
Fredericton was that the boys were back town

That includes little old me.and I took pictures to prove it was true.
Ask porcupine.(Since Cpl. Kevin Jackson of the RCMP has finally struck
himself dumb Chucky Leblanc should at least see himself and the CBC
dudes in the attached photo. While all the liberals dogs were sniffing
and licking each other's arses in front of the Legislature buildings,
I was having a rather interesting conversation with Bernie Lord (more
like a little lawyer doing a lot of double talking) in front of
several witnesses (his former Cabinet Ministers) beside the Centennial
Building where my father used to work for many Finance Ministers in
the past. Rest assured my father's ghost was laughing at the nonsense
of it all. However my son is not. (Sad but true)

Alas my poor father I knew him well. I have had a thousand times more
fun than he ever did. I have no doubt whatsoever that he is (his ghost
that is) impressed at how far his wild child had come in his efforts
at poking holes in the stuffed shirts that he had to obey. My father
toiled in an ethical fashion for a corrupt government in order to put
supper on the table and keep a roof over our heads. I do the same but
against the public corruption. My father knew me well as well. He knew
I would never follow orders and was far too dumb to know fear yet just
clever enough to do exactly what I wished in my own personal pursuit
of happiness. On his death bed my father admitted he was jealous of my
chosen lifestyle and sometimes wished he had chosen that path as well.
I thanked him for his blessing and for being a very honourable father.
Even though my father and I argued tooth and nail most of our lives,
he and I held a great respect for each other despite of it all. My
father left this wonderful old world knowing he had the respect and
love of a very different man whom he had raised as a son and friend.
All men should be so lucky EH?

My father, Max had five sons. I have only one. I named him after my
father. I know him well as well I raised him as a Mr. Mom. My son, Max
is more clever than my father and I put together. I made my son my
best friend out of the gate because that is the way it should always
be even though I am his boss for 18 years. Methinks my boy is on the
right path and he has witnessed and understands much already. I do all
of this for him in a similar fashion as what my father did for me. (In
case you haven't figured this out this was personal note to my son he
is in the USA and the Bcc line of this email. He checks my work and
stress tests my ethics all the time and I am proud that he does. We
argue a lot as well but with respect and joy. They say sons of strange
fathers go far in life EH? If my boy can ethically deal with me with
success, it follows that he will have an easy time with the likes of
you N'est Pas?

(P.S.I talked yesterday to that nasty old bureaucrat, Tiny Tim Andrew
who wants to Mayor of Fat Fred City. He was having fun with me and I
allowed it for a bit so that he would understand he was making fun of
the wrong pissed off Maritimer. Tiny Tim with the grey beard said he
remembered my Honourable Farmer Friend Werner Bock and also claimed
that he knew my father and Lloyd Nickerson, the Conservative dude who
married my mother after my father had died. When he joked while
munching his on supper that I had named my son after Mad Max I was all
done talking to that bastard outside of a court of law and let him
know in no uncertain terms as only I can do.)

Whereas you all claim to know so much, why should I brag of my prowess
at connecting dots? (Danny Boy Fitzgerald does that enough for both of
us N'est Pas?) Why not just save the fun for court? Sometimes less is
more so I will prove to Hollies and his boss why Johnny Crosbie needs
to sing for more booze because his powers to smooze are fading fast.
(Looks like I was kinda sorta wrong for a bit anyway but it must
really rot Byron Prior's socks that another devil he made a deal with
within the very same law firm that your buddy Richy hates so much is
now a Lieutenant Governor too. It appears to me that some Newfy's
truly are that dumb. and Patterson Palmer must have figured if it
worked once with Prior it would work twice) Press print on the
attachment Mr. Hollies look your new boss in the eye and talk of his
pal and the Newfy lawyer Crosbie. (I did not include it this time
because sometimes less is more EH?) Perhaps you have some interesting
pillow talk with your wife ASAP. She has already displayed to me that
she does not understand the meaning of the expression "non partisan".
Tell me honestly, do you think she will remain as Chief Electoral
Officer now that the liberal boys are back in town or will Barbara
Laundry get her old post back? I have not forgotten the tricks that
that woman pulled on me in the last federal election. Do you think the
new Commissioner Mr. Corbet ( I believed that was his name and I was
correct)will overlook just as the other Laundry dude did?

If I confuse you please understand that I am kinda sorta speaking in
riddles as any court jester or fool worth his sand would. Why let the
cat out of the bag too soon EH? (I am still the same you dudes will
never understand ethical thinking outside the box anyway) I am still
busy lining up my ducks. Never forget yesterday was only the second
day of duck season around home. I still have a whole month before the
Yankee federal election is a matter of important history. (Now we are
facing another one in short order) Perhaps the Maritimer in Stevey Boy
MacKinnon (notice he got shitcanned for opening his piehole and Doug
Tyler's sneaky plays for more gold keep backfiring on him too too too
funny EH?) Perhaps Johnny Crosbie is clever enough to explain the
following poem to the very dumb porcupine. He don't understand that he
is the goose the doesn't matter right now (his big day was today)as he
tries hard to pick a fight with me. I know my son will understand
because he longs to come to Canada to come hunting with me. After that
perhaps you dudes should give Greg Byrne's former law firm partner the
Newfy lawyer Stevey Boy May a call and ask him to explain the
following affidavit he wrote about a fool taking on Johnny Crosbie's
crowd of goofy Newfy's. Perhaps my fellow loser in this past election
Mr. Bruno Roy can explain the following email to y'all. (You are gonna
love the next two email Chucky baby one is a response from Greggy
Byrne and another is a response from Carl Davies that I have been
saving from four years ago it is time to send them to Stevey Boy
Harper to make the liberals sit up and pay attention to a pigheaded
Maritimer with a long memory and good records) Rest assured your old
lawyer pal Mr. Turner never will. (Do you even remember him Chucky?
Rest assured Brian Mulroney does.
